- Today I am dealing with this 2006 Saturn Vue with day time DRL lights that won't shut off.

That was some crazy electrical ghosts. Im glad you tracked it down. Also check your alternator output at 2500rpm. Add "with fix" to your title. That way people will know that your gonna show the fix if they watch the whole video like I did.
It had me going & thank you for the tip. Last night I almost did not make it home due to the storm & about 2 miles from home that high beam came back on. I could not turn it off. Had to disconnect the battery. Talk about electrical ghost, I did not replace the relay yet, no relay! Now I am really stumped. I did not have time today to work on it had a lot to clean up after the storm. I appreciate any help with this one.

THAT WAS ALOT OF WALKING AROUND FOR A RELAY ISSUE, BUT AS A 49 YEAR MECHANIC I FIGURED IT WAS THE HEADLIGHT REPLAY ON MY2000 MAZDA PROTEGE, JUST WANTED TO SEE WHAT OTHER FOLKS ISSUES WERE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. BEST TO REPLACE BOTH RELAYS BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THAT RELAY TO GO BAD,

Thank you so much for this vid, my lights will not turn off on my 08 saturn vue. Have been disconnecting the battery. We're in the middle of a snow storm tiday, but will definitely get at this tomorrow. I been going nuts with this.😢

Well the lights did not go out and I even pulled the 15a fuse brights went out but others showed signs of wanting to come on. So reinserted fuse and disconnected the battery for now.
These electrical problems can be a head banger. When you pulled the fuse the other lights came on?
You should check turn signal switch because if you push the handle forward they turn off

I'm having more or less the same problem with my Pontiac Sunfire. Although my car really only has one relay altogether as far as I know. I swapped it and I still got the problems
Thank you for stopping & taking the time to comment. It has been around 2 years & it just started to happen again. Previous comments I received and mechanic I know said it may be the turn signal switch. So this time I just bought one. It arrived 3 days ago. Check the wire harness going to the fuse box under the hood. When I opened the hood to check the relay I touched the wire harness & the lights went out. The switch has been working properly ( on/off ) for the last 2 days.
Once the weather warms up I will be unraveling the harness to check for a short.
This may or may not be the same issue you are having. Let me know if it is of any help.

Wow..My car was over heating, because the second fan wasn't coming on. I took my car to the garage. The guy took some of the fuses and relays out, and back in again. The fan started to work again. But, on the way home, my indicators stopped working, then started again. When I got home.turned the ignition off. My fog lights wouldn't turn off😢. I took the car back to the garage. They still have the car.. Driving me crazy 😧

There are a few suggestions in the comments below that may be helpful if you get your car back & it still has these issues. Also I had an electrical issue that had me stumped for days. While I was poking under the hood I slightly pushed the wiring harness that goes to the fuse box. Everything worked after that. There was a short in one of the wires and when it was in the right position everything was fine, then the issues would reappear when it would be jolted while driving.

My beams comes on while driving randomly but turns off soon as I put it into park.
avocado chocolate, Thank you for watching. There could be several causes from a wire being loose, rubbed bare, a faulty switch, loose fitting. Without going through & testing can not really say. Sorry I can not be of more help.

@@JOEZEP54 thank you for responding! I will absolutely give an update once I get it fixed. It might be awhile bc I have many other things needs done to this car. But that issue is the only one havent been pin pointed and no code from a diagnostic test was picked up. Only issue I had from it was when I turned on the high beams trying to see why it turned on randomly and the light went off in the dashboard. Next day, my car battery was dead and I had to get it jumped. But since then I never messed with the high beams again. I just let it come on and off from the auto setting. Maybe someone will learn from me if they're having the same issue. Just leave it on auto setting til you get it fix.
@@avocadochocolate6123 I know what you mean. It is one of the disadvantages of driving older vehicles. I have this & a 2000 Blazer. But 2 big advantages, one no monthly car payments that are larger than what mortgages use to be and the other plenty of material for my YT channel LOL. I would like to find a truck from the early seventies that is not a rust bucket but in the Northeast it is a unicorn. I miss points, plugs & very little or no computer & relays.

It isn't that relay. The high beams are what is stuck on and that relay controls the daytime running lights. It appears to be the multifunction high beam/turn signal/headlight controller on the steering column.
EDIT: Indeed, it is the multi-function switch on the steering column. This is on my daughter's car. I replaced the switch and all is well. It is an extremely quick, easy, and cheap fix. While waiting for the part, I pulled the two high beam fuses in the fuse box so my daughter could at least use the car during the daytime. You either do that or disconnect the battery if you don't want to buy a new battery. While the high beams were stuck on, the low beams would not work so no night driving. I think Joe Z probably had an intermittent issue with his switch that coincidentally went away while he was messing with those relays. My guess is that it comes back at some point in the future.

A friend of mine that is a mechanic said the same comment as you.
After switching the relay I was ordering a new set up for the multifunction high beam/turn signal/headlight controller based on what he said, but the issue stopped, at least up to now. Not sure why. But will look into the controller if it happens again. Comments to help clear up or just add to a video is always appreciated. Hope to hear form you again.

Thanks, Louis! I also ordered this part just in case the DRL relay I ordered isn't enough (for my wife's 2005 Saturn VUE with only 46000 original miles on it!) The relay comes tomorrow, Sunday, and the controller you mention on Thursday so I'll get a chance to see if it's one or the other or both. I unfortunately also had ordered an ambient light sensor and daytime running lights resistor (DRL) replacements but will hold off on installing those (if at all) until I see if JOE Z's and your highest potential solutions work out. BTW, I also ordered a car battery switch* to temporarily disable the battery so the spontaneous lights coming on don't drain the battery overnight while the issue is being fixed.
* on Amazon it's: "Ampper Top Post Knife Blade Master Switch, 12V / 24V Battery Disconnect Switch Isolator Power Cut Off for Marine Car Boat RV ATV (Negative)". Unfortunately, you have to reset everything. Oh and as an aside: In California, you can't smog the car unless the computer has enough driving info on it -- can't have that if the battery is disconnected and you haven't driven enough miles.

Until my multi-function switch comes in four days on Thursday (05-Aug-2021), I will follow the procedures you outline above so the vehicle can at least be used during the day. I am assuming this is what you are talking about (Amazon link): amzn.to/3BYv6PT else I would need to order the right part post-haste. [As a side note on the Amazon reviews in the link above, it seems to have worked for some but not all. Maybe they didn't seat the device properly or they got a defective switch out -of-the box. In any case, I'll keep trying of my first one doesn't work as this seems to be the dead-on solution to my issue.]

Bro help my headlights won’t turn off they are all the way on
If you do not have time now to diagnose what the issue is disconnect the battery at the negative terminal to shut the lights off. This is not a solution but just a way to save your battery so you can reconnect it tomorrow & start your car.

Thank you for stopping by. Without being able to check out your system I can only give you my best guess. It may be the Turn Signal Headlight Combination Switch. You can check it out on this link amzn.to/3Wch3Qu. This is to my Amazon store front. Keep in mind it this is a guess. Without diagnosing it you may be just changing parts.
