A Mike Rowe and a dirty job. You taught me to continue as I always do. Have mine maintained when I'm at my fav garage in Havasu before setting out on any journey. I have not done anything but run mine to run it. Been well over a yr since I needed it. Now I have all my solar and no need for the thing. I would be happy to remove it all together and save on gas not lugging the extra weight around. Great seeing love you professional terminology. Your always a hoot.
Just wanted to drop in and thank you Paul for the tip you gave many moons ago about the extra part on the tow dolly to keep the tongue of the dolly in place. We were on our way to Abita Springs La and when we got here , when hubby was getting the truck off the dolly he found that the pin was missing. Without that extra clamp that you had on yours we would have lost our truck and maybe wrecked our mh. Thx again. Love YALLS channel.
Just used this video to fix our code 36 issue and turned out it was the fuel solenoid that we thought was a water censor to kill the engine if too much water was in the fuel. Cleaned the solenoid which was VERY stuck and it fired up and ran clean after 2 years. You're a saint good sir.
It's great to hear comments like this! That solenoid is a pain in the butt and such a simple fix that people can easily tackle it on their own. I am glad you were able to get your problem solved! Safe travels!!
I had the same problem, I ordered a new Chinese carb for $35,but before it arrived I found your video on cleaning the carb. I skipped the cleaning part and went right to the elevation screw and removed it and I didn’t even spray any carb cleaner in it, just let the gas come out put it back in And it runs now so thanks for this video. It has gotten me in the right direction or maybe it’s fixed. Thanks again.
Thank you for this video. I had the exact same issue with my generator! Your video guided me through the process and my generator runs flawlessly! Very much appreciated.
Nice video! They recommend 30min at half load every 3 months. I go by this with my small engines and havent had a problem since even with ehanol fuel. Set a quarterly reminder on your google calendar and it'll always be ready to go
@@LifeWithPaulLorena I want to mention that I took my motorhome to have it serviced at camping world oil change for both the generator and the RV. They replaced the oil in the generator but they didn't tighten the oil filter and all the oil leaked. my generator wouldn't start when I checked the oil it was 0 ...don't take your RV to camping world they aren't good
Hey Paul ..... NICE to see you posting again !!! GOOD job with the Gen carb ... (Sadly, the fuel we get today is crap, and it will cause gumming, clogging, issues in anything, especially when that engine isn't ran much ....) . I go through this with my 84 Honda GoldWing, every spring time .... only mine is a "times4" Mikuni carburetors . /// But I LOVE that old bike , ... Can't seem to prt with her !! I hope you both are doing WELL, down there in sunny, warm Mexico 😎, (It's rather chilly up here in coastal Massachusetts) Rick S.
Somebody mentioned using fuel stabilizer and I never thought of that because we're always in the rig, but for long term storage it probably makes sense. Do you ever use that stuff?
Great video! What size is that fuel line? I will be doing a similar service soon. Genny still runs but not great and smells horrible. I'm gonna do the seafoam treatment where you connect a separate fuel line to a jug of gas and seafoam mix. Then fire it up and let it eat. Also probably get the service kit with new plugs, air, fuel and oil filter. Hopefully that brings her back around.❤
Love your videos….I even watched this one all the way through and I sure as hell won’t be doing any mechanical work 😂. PS: buy me a margarita when we get back and I won’t tell Lori you used her bottle brush and her pink screwdriver! ❤
I started using TRUFUEL in my Honda generators i buy it at. Lowes and Home Depot one gallon can non ethanol doesn’t gum up the carb a and can sit for many months not cheap but peace of mind
If I didn't mention it in the video, I do not remember Randi. I just rebuilt my mother-in laws generator carburetor and forgot to count the turns before taking them out. I grabbed the info from online somewhere, as a starting point, and then kept testing until it ran well. It's close to 2 turns, but not sure if it's that jet or the main. You do the same thing. try to start it at 1-1 1/2 turns and see how it runs. Keep adjusting until it runs smooth. Sorry I don't have a better answer.
Thank you for the videos. We’ve decided to leave Florida and head to our happy place - the Baja - do you folks like to have visitors? We’d be happy to meet up when we’re in the hood…
Hi Paul, thanks for the demo. I too have solar and rarely run my gen 5500. I need to do this also. You can't travel Baja without solar. Last past Feb and March I travel the same Baja route you took the year before. Are you at the property you bought down there? Safe travels. Don
Paul! Did my eyes just deceive me? Your hands are dirty 😂. As kids I never ever seen you get your hands dirty. Maybe recommend a stabilizer as generators sit for long time not in use. But I’m just a back yard mechanic 😂😂😂
I guess you weren't paying attention, my friend. I always wrenched on my own motorcycles, snowmobiles and cars growing up. We didn't have a choice, living in the middle of nowhere. Although we aren't technically storing our RV, adding some stabilizer wouldn't hurt.
Most old-er RV's don't have the Gold version, and is totally different with the carb disassembly... I have an Onan 6000 and looks nothing like the Marquis models... BUT, Mine is on a sliding tray.... and I use it when driving for ac instead of running dash ac. mostly.... I do believe in the solar setup as I have several portable Bluetti systems that have 30 amp RV outputs . Really it all started with sailboats... Solar..... cheap bastards, saving their money for Rum.... Today, if I sold my antique 1978 GMC Royale... I would opt for a 33 ish (non Thor product) built before 2010 and convert to batt and solar totally. DC and inverter system. ( no Propane) .. I would probably run AGM's or Gel... Then down the road if anything happens. you can replace a bad batt easily with whatever except lithium...
A sliding tray would be so much friggin better! Good luck finding a non-Thor product nowadays! They own everything!! You did say 2010, so you should be good! Lol
Paul u are so smart. I wish I lived down there with u. Love mom
That's a biased opinion based on you being my mom. Others might argue with you on that! Lol

Paul you done good , I retired from small engines 45 years 👍👍
Thanks Joe. I appreciate that! 👍
I don't ever comment but I felt compelled to here... this guy's educational and hilarious at the same time. Well done and thanks for sharing!
I'll take that as a compliment Randy! That's exactly what I am going for! 😂
Very helpful it took me all day watching this video for one second made me realize it was my solenoid. God bless you.
Glad it could help!
Thanks!

Thank you much for showing us a way to clean the carburetor. Thanks Don

Loved your funny comments and the way you fixed the carbonator ❤ thank you

Take your time and your generator will be humming in no time!
Good knowledge to have, can be used on any small equipment that has a carb. Thanks for the instructional video.........
Thanks for watching!

I have to do something similar to my Bike when I get back to Canada. It's got 4 carbs. Not looking forward to that. Finicky work , good Job Paul.

@Life With Paul & Lorena Enjoy I wish I was back down there myself.
I had that same generator. I put a new carb on. Mine was the control board. Common issue
I was keeping my fingers crossed that it wasn't the CB!
I watched a different video on how to do this and I'm sorry to say that it was not as in depth as this so I will have pull mine back off and redo it
I'm sorry to hear you had to take yours back apart, but happy to hear I could help. Good luck!
