    Im a pro nail tech here. I do dip powder overlays in regular basis. In order to having a smooth surface when you dunk your nails into the jar. I use an old acrylic brush, i use its handle to stir up the pot, then it shouldn't leave the nail crumbing surface. Also i usually do a thin clear powder layer before i put glitter on top for better adhesion! Great video!❤

      @2tielsand2canaries95 I've always wondered why people get so stuck on this, everyone washed hands before sitting down, may or may not use acetone and alcohol throughout the process, what possible contamination would occur???

  • @noneya1691
    @noneya1691 2 года назад +16

    I'm not a professional but I do my own blank press on nails. I use the tray to set my finger on and I pour the dip powder on my nail. Since the tray catches pretty much all of the powder it's not being wasted. This also prevents the slightly smushed free edge and I get a very even color. I would imagine customers might have a problem sticking their nails where someone else has used it before. There would be little to no cross contamination.

      I was going to say the same thing about using the trays to pour the powder over the wet base instead of dipping directly into the jar.

      I’m currently doing a Nail Tech course and we’re taught to dip the clients’ finger into the powder… but I also don’t like doing that for the same reasons you mentioned.
      So I do the same method as you 😊

    Those colors are beautiful! I do my own dip nails. I love it! The one thing I do differently is I put a second coat of activator after filing and buffing. Great video 💖

    • @Saitaina
      @Saitaina 2 года назад

      The second set of activaror is a Keira sjy thing that is just a waste unless your top coat needs it (some top coats are activated by the activator).
      I would check if your top is air dry or activator...uh...activated. You can tell by how long it's sticky for.
      Or skip the hassle and use gel top 😉

    They came out really pretty (of course, because it's an Anastasia set!) but dip just isn't for me personally. I'm a hard gel girl. I'm not a professional, I'm only doing my own nails at home. I started with gel and that's what I've invested in because I've found that I love it. But to each their own. We're lucky to have so many different kinds of products to choose from these days, especially for home users like me! 💙💙💙

    Very pretty!! I haven’t used dip powder in a long time. My nail tech would bring the powder to my finger and go in at a 45 degree angle and that seemed to work well

    I bought almost the same starter kit from them since I do my own dip nails. ( I tried the regular acrylic method with monomer before but it have been a disaster for me ^^' ... and I couldn't stand the smell as well) this is a good way to try for the first time as it's not expensive, but I think the choice of colors is very limited. Now I prefer to pick dip colors on homemade sites they have so many choices with glitters, foils, etc

    my nail tech only does dip powder :) She put the lid under my fingers and pour the product on top. sometimes with her kit she'll put the base coat on her brush and dip it in the powder to apply it exactly where she wants to :o Love them! my nails are pretty soft and thin so she puts a nail tip as well to help solidify it

    Thank you for your info, i do it the same way but i use the white tray to peek up the powder and then i poor it over the nails, the powder does not move the base ans you can poor twice the time in one coat then apply the second coat the same way, the resolute is much stronger 🌺

    I hope you see this comment and help me, I have been doing gel nails for about 2 years now, I have maybe 5 clients 😂There is a girl that has a pointer finger that has a nail growing downwards, and also hyponychium (the thing under the nail, hope I'm saying this correctly 😂) is very excessive.
    I do not know how to build up enough gel to make it straight and file underneath because of that problem.
    I would love to hear your opinion, how to deal with that kind of situation, I do not want to this without consulting first, I am so scared of hurting her or not doing a good job.
    Hope to see that in some of your videos, I learned so much from your videos and have managed to resolve a lot of troubleshooting, you make it all seem so easy and effortless, looking forward for the next one.

    if top coat is cured by air; does that mean you can’t paint on it with regular nail polish? we can on gel products and remove nail polish with acetone and gel is still there and stays shiny what about dip?

    It’s not gonna be completely sanitary but if you really do have a problem with cross contamination, you can ask your client to wash their hands with soap provided by you and you can use alchol wipes to clean their nails and all that so when they dip their fingers it’s as clean as you can get, or you can pour the powder over the nail and do it over a tray so no powder gets wasted!

    So you only do two on an overlay, interesting. I'm ised to building my nail from dip which is six layers, so I never knew how many just for a color.
    Now I do. ❤. Be helpful those times I use pokygel for the extension but want another color a week later (I have like 100 jars of dip but 20 polygel, they get boring after a while).

      i have the same problem and unfortunately the only solution was to use base coat that requires LED lamp and need to be cured. Is also easier to clean up because there’s playtime in between since it needs to be cured. Its tricky at first but i recommend a thicker base coat soo it isn’t runny,cure and then dust off. Then there’s no need for activator either since it’s cured
