I'd like to say I really appreciate your videos. Most nailtechs I know, get pissed when other nail techs share "free" information. There'll always be people that try things themselves and I rather have them try it with good information, than without and completely destroying their's and other people's nails.

I also wanted to add that not everyone can afford to go to school. I was quoted a price, well over what I paid to get licensed for skin. In my state, skin is more hours in school than nails. Couldn’t believe how much they wanted for a program that is literally 15% less hours. I plan on signing up for some of Anastasia’s courses. However, I go to her RUclips A LOT for troubleshooting when I’m learning on myself and a trainer hand.
      Thanks Anastasia!

Me too! This explains some of the problems I've experienced with my nails and cuticles as well. Although I don't have an e-file (yet) I've over picked my side walls with cuticle trimmers trying to cut hang nails off and stuff. I don't know If she'll see this but is there a way to regrow your side walls with out getting hang nails?? Do I need to moisturize my hands more?? Does anyone know.

@@TinaThatsMi Lots and lots of cuticle oil! I mix my own... about ¾ jojoba oil and ¼ vitamin E oil. If I'm having cuticle problems, I apply it *many* times a day. If everything is fine, I apply it morning and night. I get empty cuticle oil pens from Amazon; it makes it so easy to apply and carry in a purse or pocket.
I apply it, and let it soak in instead of rubbing it in. (Unless I have to use my hands of course, but I usually do it when I'm watching TV and can sit still for a while.) Within a couple of days, I see improvement. With continued frequent use, your cuticles and sidewalls will soon be healthy and beautiful.

it’s all about pressure and speed with an e-file. the melody susie drill is great for beginners and you can buy many drill bits for it. don’t apply too much pressure, don’t keep the drill bit anywhere on the nail for more than 3 seconds, always keep the drill moving and on a higher speed. if you’re applying too much pressure while the drill is on a lower speed, you’ll not only damage the natural nail but you’ll feel a heat spike on your nail.

Definitely helpful. I do my own manicures at home because it is cheaper and I can avoid having to get to know a new nail tech and them getting to know me and what I need. Also, it is safer than sitting in crowded salons and just trusting that the nail tech is properly cleaning everything. (My nail tech moved back to his home country and I was a little nervous with anyone new so I was super picky after him)
But one thing I rarely, if at all, ever touch is my cuticles. He always did them so well and I'm not trained so the first time I messed them up, I left them alone and worked around them. It just doesn't look as nice. This video is super helpful as I mentally prepare to tackle them again!

Great video. What do you recommend for a client who’s had a bad time and had their side walls over filled...to the point it’s left damaged nail beds, lifting of the nail plate, thin nails that are breaking or very soft/bendy free edges. I’d absolutely love to see a detailed video on that.
How would you deal with it? Can they still get nail extensions? Gel extensions? Gel painted onto their damaged nails? Are they meant to leave them well alone to grow them out? Sorry for all the questions but I’d love to learn in depth about these type of issues and how professional nail tects would deal with them. Thank you x

Starting out doing my own nails with an electric file I definitely over filed the sides. If I put acrylic on all the exposed nail now it’s beyond the nail the extends from my finger. I stopped filing it or placing product on it. My skin on the side walls grew back very shallow. Hard to explain but sides are practically flush with my nail. With this ever fix itself? I was so upset when I realized I changed the shape of my nail bed🥺

I always dread when the manicurist has to push back my cuticles and trim them! I've been nicked with their bits a few too many times, which causes burning when they start applying the acrylic to my nails and something I did not know until recently is that you can develop an allergy to the monomer liquid that's used to pick up a bead of acrylic powder. I've been wanting to learn to apply my own acrylic nails, but the whole idea of developing an allergy to the monomer liquid scares me! I'm glad they make HEMA-free monomer liquid though, but I think I'll be starting out using the gellytips on myself before going full acrylic to nail. The nice thing about gellytips is that your natural nails aren't taking as much damage as straight acrylic to nail. As soon as I get all the supplies I need and want, I'll be watching TONS more nail education videos. This is only something I plan to do as a hobby, so wish me luck!

No you don't, it's very dangerous to cut back too much of the cuticle and to file away like that on the nail bed. Just cuticle cream an, orange stick to shape and remove unwanted cuticle. Efile only to shape and tidy up
