My two cents about the color in the bedroom: According to color science, the opposites in the color wheel are the most complimentary color. Look up "color wheel" so you know what I’m talking about. The opposite for green is red, which is why the red chairs will look great in the dining room. However, in the bedroom where you have a orange brick wall and an "orange" teak table, you can see that the complimentary color will be blue colors. Also, looking @ the video your blue shirt looks so good with the brick. So that is why i feel that the blue will fit better and make the room feel peaceful and intentional. Good luck with your home updates!

great explanation, not to mention the mood board with the blue background helps the warmer toned colors shine through, while the yellow makes everything blend together, purely because of the contrast from the cool and warm tones. My two cents on the dining room is that the white walls help brighten the space, while a green accent wall or ceiling would be enough to give the space some extra pop.
p.s. think about how the color will reflect throughout the room and color unpainted surfaces. It might even make the spare white walls a light shade of green. The white will help the green stand out more on camera. A green wall where the window is, might make the light from the window appear brighter, while the white behind the furniture could reflect the light throughout the space, and allow your beautiful mid-century pieces to stand on their own.

Love the yellow for the bedroom. The blue looks cold to me. I got so excited when I saw the darker green for the dining room until you said it was showing more yellow than it really is. I actually love chartreusey, yellowey greens more, but I still think the green will be beautiful. Also, what a great tip about the frames and matting. That really is the most expensive part of artwork

was going to say same thing! blue will look great with brick and the brick colored side bench. blue is also such a calming color for the bedroom - especially if it already gets a lot of sun and is a hot room - I think yellow is not the best choice.

Idk, that blue is like a morning sky blue colour.
Darker and deeper blues tend to work better for bedrooms, because they absorb a lot more light, but light blues like those are actually worse, because it simulates morning light which causes stimulates your bodies biological clock into keeping you awake- I mean, it's a lot more of a calming energy than yellow, but yeah.

Hi Benji, I vote blue for the bedroom. It's more calming. I like the green for the dining room. If you paint the walls, I'd leave the ceiling white, so it's not too dark. You could also use that yellow in the dining room, to brighten it up. I really do like your white shelf with all the plants. Theo & Winnie are so cute

Yellow looked much better than the blue, which went cold and dirty and very "little boy's bedroom" with all the red tones on the mood board. The yellow was more sophisticated and small blue and green items could bring in some contrast, like the blue in the print. The green could be great on the ceiling in the dining room as long as it didn't make the ceiling feel lower. Your living room is wonderful and the new art additions are great, I think. The highlight of it all for me was that one crazy shot of Winnie's head in the cone popping up above the dining table - that was a still that would look great in one of your new frames. Thanks for the tour - your style is thoughtful and quiet and I really like it.

I love all the paint colors you have chosen, and do agree that you should paint. The green did have a mustardy quality to it on camera, not sure what it looks like in person. But a dark green would be lovely in the dining room. Giving it a cozy, and warm, intimate feel. I'd leave the ceiling white. I prefer the pale blue in the bedroom, and perhaps the yellow in the bathroom and stairwell maybe? Since you say it's so hot up there in the bedroom, the blue may give it a "cooler" feel. Both the yellow and blue look great with the teak. I like to go by what feelings you want to evoke in a room (i.e. serenity, coolness, coziness, soothing, etc.) It will all be so beautiful!!

I like the idea of green on the ceiling, considering you don't get a ton of light in that area it will be a nice contrast w/o compromising the white walls for brightness. Be careful about the frame of the second sketch you showed...those holes in the wood are wood-worm...you want to make sure they are not active,,,you can buy woodworm cure in an aerosol can...you might want to spray the frame to make sure they are dead before hanging on the wall.
To paint only the darker green on the dining room ceiling would be a mistake...you don't have a high enough stud to paint the ceiling in a dark tone...paint the walls dark and the ceiling a light colour will create an intimate space as opposed to an enclosed space.
I just painted my living room walls a very light whiteish/blue....what an amazing change...it brightens the room without it being stark....It also highlights my art work and the Rimu ceiling beams extremely well.

I think the blue might fit really well because of the contrast of the yellow sunlight coming in. Yellow in a bedroom sometimes can cause trouble sleeping because our eyes correlate yellow with the sun. I think it might not affect you as much because of how light the yellow is but still good to know. They're both really good options.

So that it makes sense. The blue frames my altar and ankers it into the room. And the yellow is on the two walls you see when you come in. I am so in love. The yellow is just a happy color and the blue is relaxing and smooth. I think about water and sun.

Nice paint colors. I wouldn't paint the breakfast nook ceiling with a dark color, since it's a low ceiling. Darker colors on the ceiling tend to give the illusion it's "lower" (like in a cave). But, because of that false lowering, it can create a more "intimate" and "cozy" vibes, if that's what you want instead. If it were a vaulted ceiling and you wanted to "bring it down" because it feels daunting and overpowering, that's when you can paint it a dark color.

The space looks small, though, and darker colors can tend to feel more confined. Like a cave, so maybe just do the ceiling. Then you can feel it out for a little bit. Then do the rest if it feels good.😊

    Hi Benji,
I rarely comment on RUclips, but seeing how many people commented that they prefer blue colour for your bedroom, I just felt like it would be nice if someone said otherwise. Personally, I really think that the yellow paint will provide this bright but also cozy feeling, during the day, but also at night. It just feels to me like the blue would make the room "cooler" as in it wouldn't provide the brightness the yellow would.
But what do I know, all my walls are white 😅😂
In any case, thank you so much for your content. It's always a pleasure to see the different home updates, even if your style is not similar to mine, at all.
Have a great redesigning experience 😊

I learned that one has to take sun exposure into account, so that blue would actually work well and the yellow might become too much.

Agreed! I never comment but felt like I had to on this one, I thought the yellow would be the majority vote - it's so much warmer and more inviting and just fits the entire vibe better in my opinion

I like the green for the dining room, however I would try a "feature" wall first, just paint the wall behind that cabinet and see if you like it. Green is my favorite color too! I'd like green everywhere.

Hi Benji. I love the green for the dining room and maybe just try a feature wall just to get an idea if you want to paint the entire room. And I like the curtains at the opening to the living room, but I think they would look even nicer if they were longer. Looking forward to seeing what you decide. ❤

for the dining room: i like the green but i think the wood shelving unit contrasts really nicely with the white walls as is, and the space seems a bit too small to pull off a dark painted ceiling - i think the wall with the window would be nice as a green accent wall (ideally with white trim around the window) or you could even paint the lower half of the room green if you're into that. and for the bedroom i agree with the sunny butter yellow - it's a soft enough tone that it shouldn't feel like ketchup and mustard with the muted red brick + the blue feels a bit dim and cold for a bedroom to me

I really really love the white in the dining room. I''ll wait to see how it turns out with colour. I agree the white shelf design is very beautiful and creative.

definitely blue for the bedroom. green would look great in dining room but perhaps a paler green as the room already doesn't get much light

I really like the way that you set up your shelves, it looks so personalized with all of the items that you picked out. For the bedroom, if you choose yellow, you could have blue accents-the bedding and decor and vise versa if you choose blue. I think that they will both work well. I’m afraid that the green may make the room too dark and it will appear smaller but I love the color. Maybe paint one wall or the ceiling? Lots to think about 🤔.

The yellow and blue paint colors look quite bright on camera so I would go for something lighter or more muted. My bedroom is painted a light buttery yellow and it gives such a lovely, warm atmosphere both in the morning and the evening so I can recommend it 🥰 I also have green like on your inspo photos in my livingroom (warm white on top two thirds of the wall and green on the bottom third) and I've kept that color for 4 years and still love it! Painting your ceilings that color would darken the room a lot though and I'm guessing it would make the room feel very heavy. Just my thoughts 😄 painting ceilings is such a hassle so I wouldn't want you regretting it and having to paint it white again.

Regarding color I would say it depends on the light etc. I recently bought a book called Farrow&Ball Decorating with Colour. Though their paint is really expensive it is a beautiful book. I have also on a large poster board etc purchased a small amount of paint so you can hang in room and see how the light day and night is affected. Good luck!

For the bedroom you should consider 2 important factors: if you have high temperatures in summer, or south room orientation - be better to choose cold tones for the walls. Good luck)

I'm voting for buttery yellow!! I personally feel the blue doesn't match the shade of the bricks, or the cement between it. Whereas the yellow accompanies it better - I think because it's closer to a neutral colour than the blue. I also feel this makes sense with your mood board where you've got accents of green and blue that would contrast nicely with the yellow. Like a soft blue on a quilt cover with white pillows, against a yellow wall, would be so much cuter than the other way round imo
