    Love the review, I like the perspective of someone who’s actually used them. A slight comment on the smell, you could use acetone or rubbing alcohol and brush off some of the residue on the rubber. Works great on climbing shoes to get excess chemical residue off. Check on Jim green in the future, they have lots of barefoot styles and options

    I hope you got the clicks you wanted after mentioning Rose Anvil. You think he was duped or sold out because he didn’t mention a smell? You just ensured that I don’t click any more of your videos.

      I love my Vivobarefoot Boots! I have the Tracker Forest Escapes. Vivobarefoot in particular, always changes their stock so with them, if you like it, I mean REALLY like it, you'd better buy three pair because it probably won't be there in a year.

      @FlabDAD  Год назад +1

      Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I do not know what the chemical is. I am guessing it is the out sole tread area that is the cause. However it could be the glue and that would explain why not everyone has noticed the smell.

    I Did hear your daughter. Thank you for doing this review, Im a barefoot guy have been for a long time. Im a farm worker. It's hard finding a good durable barefoot boot and I have run into the discontinued problem many times. I watched the Rose Anvil on these shoes, and was considering buying a pair. I see this as a positive review. Your complaints are minimal and I like the fact that they can be resoled, think I will order a pair. How are the sizes? do they run small or large?

    • @FlabDAD
      @FlabDAD  Год назад +2

      The size runs good for me. they are actually the only shoe or boot that is actually wide enough. So they may run a tad big for some but they lace really solid. They have more positives than negatives and the negatives are small. The second pair I got did not have the smell. I think they are worth it for me.

    I know a blacksmith who is a large guy with big, flat feet. He gets the foam anti-fatigue floor mats and cuts his own in-soles out of those, and wears through them in about a week. His reasoning is that the foam mats are a lot cheaper than replacing his work boots as often as he would have to otherwise.

    Love my pair, but buy in your Brannock size no matter what. I bought a pair half a size larger than my Brannock since I was primarily planning to wear thick wool socks with them. Ended up getting horrible blisters at my heel even with the socks. Maybe my ankle is too small or something but I couldn’t tighten down the laces enough to keep my heel from lifting. I ended up buying heel pads and they completely fixed the issue. I’ve now done multiple backpacking trips with them and no problems ever since. I just wish the heel counter was thicker and more contoured to actually hold your foot in place.

    • @stephendohse6462
      @stephendohse6462 11 месяцев назад +1

      Not completely true, I bought mine in the correct size and the aggressive slope in the toe made it impossible for me to wear without curling my big toe under. I had to go a full size up in order for my toe to be ok. I only wear a thicker merino/alpaca wool sock so that takes up the slop in my ankle/heal area.

      Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I greatly appreciate it. I am sorry the video is confusing. The point is to try and highlight that these boots may not fit work needs. There are limitations. However I am lucky enough that even though I visit many work environments, I am not in a high risk area. I think some workers may benefit greatly like possibly a roofer who is on a constant angle the mobility may be a huge benefit. I just want to help give enough info that someone can make a wise choice. For the money these cost I wouldn't like getting a boot I could use or wear. Thank you again for your comment It will help me make my videos less confusing in the future.

    I was a wildland firefighter for 5 years. My first year out I was on loaner boots and made the mistake of getting size 11 danners mistaking regular shoe size for boot size or flash boots when my feet are a size 9ee. While out the boss I was working with recommended Chippewa boots as he'd had the same pair for many years and never had any issues once broken in.
    I've had the same chippewa pair of boots for 11 years. I've replaced the leather laces out of the gate to meet fire regs and have replaced the leather laces a few times since but other than that they're still going strong to this day. They taught me there is a hidden and unspoken beauty about a freshly oiled set of boots and how the leather feels when clean. I've only recently learned of rose anvil, I'm curious about their ND3 boots when they come around but other than that have no other intel on their production line. My thought is I have a really good set of boots that still work today so I wonder if their design would be equal to or more comfortable than what I already have for hiking and general purposes as I no longer fight the devils back country. Terry pratchett's parable on boots is very true, I've torn through boots you find on store shelves without trying those chipps might outlive me. Cheers!
