My Thursday captains are 2.5 years old and I wear then a minimum 5 days a week to work and also on weekends. They have exceeded my expectations. I've had zero issues. Everything is holding up extremely well. I wear them in the summer heat, rainy fall and snow winter here in the North East. The leather is still in perfect condition and I have never treated or conditioned it. Only thing I had to do was buy a replacement set of laces from Thursday as i ripped one after 2 years of use. I'm shocked how well they still look after the abuse I put them through and how long they've lasted; mind you I'm a 6'1 235lb guy. I usually destroy a casual work style boot after just 6-8 months but these things look like they are just breaking in for me. The bottoms are also still in great shape.
This is exactly what I have been looking for in boots. Living with seasonal changes and having something that looks great but also very functional. Think I’m gonna grab a pair.
You do a great job at showing the boots from all different angles both on and off foot. Also fantastic job at structuring your videos from what you talk about to how long it is. Storytelling skills 10/10.
I’ve been listening to you talk about these boots for quite a while now but could never quite pull the trigger on them. I’ve got a bunch of Red Wing boots and a pair of Grant Stone boots. I’m here in New York for a couple of days so I went to the store to check them out. I bought a pair for myself and for my wife! Great looking boots and very comfortable! Very happy! My wife was in shock when I told her they cost only $199. She thought they were $600 boots. She was also very happy when I told her I’d buy her a pair. So I got a nice pair of boots and made my wife happy as well! Thanks for the the reviews!
Found out about this company recently and have decided this is exactly what I'm looking for. Not a massive budget but I feel my timberlands make my feet look disproportionately large compared to the rest of my outfit. I love the look and the price is just on the edge of what I can afford. They're definitely my self birthday present when January rolls around.
Lol. I just got a pair of these for the exact same reason. I have Tims in a similar style to these but the look massive. Haven’t gotten these yet but we’ll see.
@@sweet.chickens Peachy. Ended up getting the burnt ginger colour which I think is discontinued now. Early on I was devastated by every scuff and scrape but all weathering has averaged out now and they look pretty fantastic still. Still the most comfortable shoes I own.
Thanks for the update on these boots. I'm one of those guys that enjoys getting a brand new pair of boots and then watching them age with just normal wear. That's what these boots are. The more you wear them, the more comfortable they because, and the better they look. They are not a pair of boots for heavy duty work.
I'm just breaking in my majors in walnut, and I have to say as my second day in. They are already starting to feel so inherit to my feet. I put miles at work and the first day was hard to get the leather upper to soften. Now they are starting to feel like butter. I look forward to the rest of the breaking in period.
Just got my brown captains this week, and I absolutely love them. Wore them for the first time last night to my daughters band concert, and they are already pretty comfortable. I'm gonna be buying another pair very soon
I have several pairs of Thursday boots. Love my Captain’s in Old English leather that are Goodyear Welted. They are about 2 years old and they look and feel great!
Years ago I sold watches, low to mid-level, nothing too crazy. Plastic digitals up to Tissot. Whenever asked 'which watch will last the longest?' the standard reply was 'the one that you take care of'. It's something of a no-brainer observation, but focuses in on what you, as a grown up, can influence. Read the care instructions and obtain a sense of what the product you bought can reasonably handle. If you own one pair of boots, and you wear them every day, rain, snow or shine, and you don't maintain them, this may not be the pair of boots for you, unless you want to replace them in a year or eighteen months. Half of these boot comments sounds like, 'I bought something relatively inexpensive, and used them for a very low cost per wear, but they didn't stack up to a more expensive, sturdy something else'. And?
I have a pair of Thursday captains that I have worn daily for 4 years. They are getting close to being retired. But have held up great, and I only condition them about once a year. and have hicked every major trail in the grand canyon in them. I would be happy to buy them again.
I get 2 pairs of Thursdays about 2 years ago, based mainly on your reviews. Captain & President. Both on sale as seconds (the only sale they've had, $150 each). I can barely tell why they are seconds.
I own same. Thursdays customer support told that this leather does not need any conditioner at all and said only water protection spray would suffice the need.
Your terracotta have darkened to a good color. What products did you use on it? TBC suggests not to use anything on that leather, but I love how yours look!
Got a pair in late 2018, they're due to be resoled but they're otherwise still good. Got the olive roughout explorer and wore them around the city and hiked regularly
I’ve had my Diplomat Arizona leather for about a year and a half and they’ve worn in great. I literally just ordered some new Captains in Burnt Copper and can’t wait for them. The rugged & resilient line has really been a pleasant surprise for me.
I recently got the Captains in Canyon - they look nothing like the photos advertising the Canyons, but rather are just really dark brown. The quality seemed good and though they were nothing like what I expected and hoped for (think distressed, almost an oily looking leather), I kept them. I hope they get a bit more comfortable and wear well.
I got my Thursday boots about 4ish years ago, before they changed the heel counter, and the leather has aged nicely for being a regular brown chrome tanned leather. My biggest issue with Thursday boots isn’t the leather uppers, for me the issue arose around 2 years into them at the insole. The insole just completely flattened out and they became very uncomfortable, and ended up bruising my ankle after a day out. I wish they would release a premium line that had a traditional leather insole with better construction. These are great boots but in my opinion, they’re not worth resoling, so to me, they’re basically just a cement construction.
The soles are the worst! My Captains went flat and uncomfortable after 6 months. Replaced them with Vibram soles and cobbler added cork and now I’m happy
@@partybees8856 no, the insole does not come out and there is no room to put some in. that's my biggest issue. arch support is horrible, i wanted to add some support, can't. the eyelets are crappy, they shred shoelaces, the tongue goes to the side within minutes of wearing it. they look very nice, but the comfort and quality is subpar.
@@Kinosec-10 See here's the thing about that though, you could've just bought that from the get go with a better boot. I can't wrap my head around actually resoling a thursday boot, so many people on here are saying they are extremely uncomfortable after even 6 months to 1 year.
That’s definitely why I stopped buying Thursday. Sure in theory they are resolable which is great, but do you want to spend $125-150 on a resole when the boots themselves only cost 200 and buying new ones would be much more comfortable than resoling flattened out old ones. So to me, GYW is nothing but a marketing word in Thursday’s case since they’re not really worth the resole.
After having the Thursday boots I am glad they were just 200. They are nice boots but over time they feel like 200 dollars. I paid over twice as much for my Nicks but after 2 heavy years of use the Nicks still feel like new. For casual use the Thursday boots are the way to go though.
Glad to hear that feedback as well. Im on the fence w. these vs the Red Wings. They have well proven their outstanding durability but these boots, being a newer company, def not as much. If Im already spending $200, I dont mind paying another $100 for a well proven boot. Like many, not all, things in life, we get what we pay for.
I enjoyed your video and you have had lots of experience and exposure to many brands, hence you are good position how a boot fits into the market. I have 3 Thursdays, I like them and they are solid. Although, Grant Stone which is an increase of 100 to 150 dollars is a better option in my book. I think the quality is higher in many aspects. My Thursdays feel a lot less comfortable now. There is small chunk if the toe missing, doesn't make them unwearable. Thursday fill in a niche in the market and will be a great option for many. It is matter of being aware of the upsides and downsides of their value proposition.
I am glad I found your channel. From your perspective on what is good and bad with different types of boots and shoes.. to how boots are made. Your reviews of Thursdays are the reason I just sent for my 5th pair. Size is great cause I have a wide foot, E or EE..style is great and I have had no problems so far… I wish I could other brands as well, but they don’t have many wide sizes.. Thanks Nick.
I have a pair of Wingtips and a pair of Stompers. The wingtips are the most comfortable boot I've ever had honestly. Stompers are amazing also. I've never purchased boots this expensive before. I've always worn work boots like caterpillars, or boots like Docs. So yeah big step up from those lol. But I've never gone into the 400+ range yet.
$400 not yet either will hope someday. nicks or whites. i have keens and georgia loggers (georgia are heavy af) waiting for captains in tobacco stormking.
I love my bison leather cadets.. I was diagnosed with planter fasciitis and the first thing my pediatrist told me was to stop wearing vans and get a pair of boots.
Always impressed when I saw you do those pistol squats... Then yesterday I stumbled across an old Barbend video and who was a spokesman? Mr. Stridewise .
I just bought the cadets off Amazon. They are pretty comfortable right out of the box. I bought true to size and i find they are a teeeny but too roomy around the sides of my feet..but i have a pretty thin foot. I'm really happy though
Hi Nick @Stridewise, one thing i see lacking in Thursday reviews/recommendations are lower profile boots like their Cadets line. And that is across the board, not just your channel. Most YT'ers don't give the Cadets their fair share of coverage. The tobacco Cadets were my first boots from Thursday. Since then, I have Captains and Dukes. But my absolute favorite pair of Thursdays are my cadets. My only complaint with Thursday is their Cadets lack more Rugged & Resilient options. A black matte pair of Cadets, or their Burnt Copper would be smashing! At any rate, order yourself some Cadets, and enjoy the fit!
I have the terracotta as well and did the same thing you did but used saphir and it made them look so much cooler! I have 7 pair of thursdays and all of them look better than when they were new.
I tend to avoid blue jeans, but like charcoals, greys, and browns. Which colour captains would you recommend to match? I'm currently stuck choosing between the brown, terracotta, and dark olive suede.
Brown is probably more versatile for casual and smart casual but the adobe is good for every day casual with anything. Really depends on if you want to deal with leather that needs conditioning or not. The Arizona adobe is rugged and very nice. But the brown is soft and beautiful but scratched easy. But honestly both of them are easy to buff out scratches. Buy both that’s what I did lol 😂
Just purchased a pair of terracotta (size not available in arizona adobe). Really love the comfort and look but wish they were a bit darker. Which products did you use from saphire? Conditioner? Water treatmen? Thanks!
You mentioned that these boots are the Terracotta leather, which Thursday recommends not to treat like smooth leather, but rather to treat like rugged and resilient leather. Thus, they don't recommend using Venetian Shoe Cream. You mention that you did. What made you reach for VSC vs. Bick 4, neatsfoot oil, or another conditioner meant for this type of leather?
Love the reviews and love my Thursday Boots. Up to six pair, the latest being the Black Matte President. Was in NYC a few weeks ago. Had to visit the store. Was REALLY hard to find, but well worth it. I was in Heaven. The only thing that would have been cooler would have been a Nick sighting on the streets of Manhattan! Maybe next time.
I just bought a pair of the cavaliers and have really enjoyed them but now I'm looking at buying the black monk strap dress shoes do you have any experience with fit or comfort/durability with Thursday boots shoes if so I'd really appreciate some input!
I’ve had mine over 3 years and they’ve held up like champs. Are they Trumans, Whites, or Grant Stones? No, but for $200 they’re robust, pretty tough boots and I think they age nicely. (I have the captains)
I have brown captain over 4 years and they are still going very strong and looks 2 weeks old (I do condition my boots every 4 months) Super comfortable and haven't notice anything negative that other members mentioned here. I have stopped buying Allen Edmonds boots because of them. For the money and quality ratio they can't be beaten. I see lot of folks dont' understand that they aren't work boots so please dont' compare then to Nicks, Redwing etc which I often see.
opposite experience. started with Thursday, and now pretty much only buy allen edmonds. the quality and comfort is not even comparable. i only paid 199 for my higgins mill on sale, and i also got the ranger and alpine captoe under 200. I'll wait for the sales, no reason to buy Thursday boots.
I have had my tobacco President's for 4 years now (October 2018). After many nights getting dragged back from the pub in all conditions the right sole stitching is just starting to split. Nothing a good cobbler can't fix. Can't rate these boots highly enough. Thinking about getting a second pair for Christmas.
Hey Nick, I appreciate how you thoroughly wear and know your stuff- going waaay beyond ‘unboxing!’ Even making shoes in south america! I would love to see how your grant stones age walking NYC streets (my favorite boots along with allen edmonds higgins mill in CXL). Be well!
I just bought a pair of Thursday Vanguards. One of the main reasons was their US construction (this particular model is manufactured stateside) and the fact that they have larger than normal sizes. Most boot & shoe makers only go up to about US size 13, but my foot is larger than that. I have a number of old suede combat boots, but I wanted something I could wear with a suit, or jeans, or anywhere in between. Thanks for your review!
I ordered a pair of Vanguards and was disappointed they run a little large, at least my pair. Also, heel height is similar to a Super Roper heel. I returned them for a pair of Limited Captain in Scotch color. It's not bad for $199.00, but some short cuts are taken, and the liner is not glued down very well. I have worn them for three hours around the house and still need several more wears to break them in before a casual Friday at work.
This is completely random but I’m looking to buy a pair of koio capris but I’m stuck on the size I should get, I don’t want to get too big or too small but I wear a 10 in my Nike blazers but a 9 1/2 in my Thursday boots
@@cadensharp-p7z toes. Thought of taking to a cobbler to stretch but I think it's fine. If they had half size up it'd be ideal; 10 is just sightly too big for me
i've worn the lug sole version of the captain thursday boot for the last few months at work. the boots have been extremely adequate aside from the speed hooks warping. and that started fairly early on. aside from that i've been really pleased. bought some low top sneakers as well. decent products for the money.
I recently bought 2 pair of Thu Captains--one AZ Adobe, one Brown leather--and I don't know what to think. They're really heavy and hurt my feet and knees. I hope this gets better, but I'm starting to think they might not be worth the hype.
Wait I though Thursday said the rugged and resilient line was NOT to be conditioned, as it'll ruin the rugged effect. Did it turn out ok? or just company flush
Bought a pair of Thursday captain boots have worn them for 3 weeks was hoping for a lot more comfort they don’t seem to have much arch support even with loose laces after a couple hours the top of my foot starts getting sore was a carpenter for 40 years always wore westco boots retired now but still walk the dog do yard work was hoping Thursday boots would be good light duty boot they look good they seem to Be well built just don’t seem to be working for me.
I have two pair of Thursday Captions, one in Canyon rugged/resilient and one in Dusty tan suede. I love both pairs and the Dusty is just like wearing a sneaker from the first time. I do have a narrow flat foot and these boots fit me very well by going half size down. I have since purchase a used pair of Alden Indy’s and I am trying hard to like them better than the Thursdays. No doubt the Alden is a better made boot, but the Thursdays are so comfortable to wear. I personally do not think you can find a better casual boot for the money.
Do the women's captain boot have a steel shank? A Thursday rep told me they do and there is no difference between the men's and women's captain. But it's not listed on the product page like it is on the men's. I found one website review that claimed the only difference between the two is that the women's don't have a steel shank.
I asked Thursday's CMO and he confirmed it has a steel shank, I imagine it's not on the product page because saying there's unbendable steel in your boot is something that turns more women off than men
I'm ordering a pair of these right now because of this video. But i want them to look like yours! You use Venetian Shoe Cream roughly twice a year? I noticed on your videos they are a little darker and there is a little shine to them since you've put the cream on. Also, I was tempted to go with the Rugged and Resilient line for convenience, but after watching this I'm sticking with the Classic line. I want that softer feel out of the box. I'm sure you have a video explaining how to take care of the Classic line, especially in the winter. Thanks bro for the content!
hey glad you liked it man! yeah this is terracotta with some venetian shoe cream applied now and then - and they are softer out of the box than the rugged and resilient ones. hope you like em!
Interesting to see how your soles havent really detached at all. One of my pairs of captains is only a year old, and the soles are like completely coming apart
I did start to see that on my R&R Captains around the 1 year mark. Added a drop or two of super glue and they've been fine ever since. Coming up on 2 years now and they look great, although I did "ruin" the Arizona Adobe look through over conditioning. They're more chocolate-with-caramel-filling now, which I dont mind one bit. The heel counter material has disintegrated though, which is a bit of a shame. All in all, for a pair of boots that will probably see 3+ years of about 3 days of use per week, the price was good.
I was really disappointed in how fast the heels worn down . After only 6 months, I had to replace them . (Top lift ) . At a cost of $30 . The laces are not the best but that is a little thing . I still would recommend them to anyone looking for a good pair of boots . So many people just wear garbage. I do have a black pair of Timberlands, and they are good city boots, but they feel sloppy on my feet .
I’ve been considering a pair of Thursday Boots Vanguard in the Waxed Cacao leather. They are unique in that they have a Cuban heel as opposed to other Vanguard styles I’d be very interested to see you review this boot. Still priced below many other similar boots.
I have that boot, and it’s a beautiful leather- you won’t be disappointed and if you are, ship it back for free. Got mine 3 years ago and it has the much better Vibram sole, not the Thursday sole
I have the Diplomats in Arizona Adobe, and just got the Captains in Natural Chromexcel. I'm thinking I want either the Scout in Arizona Adobe or the President in Black Coffee next. Those Matte Black Explorers and Color No. 8 Vanguards are also super tempting.... Okay, I might have an addiction. I also want the low tops in Black Vachetta. ...and I'm really curious to find out if their dress shoes have shanks in them.
Good review. However I do disagree that the comfort is the same or better after two years. In fact my Presidents, with the same construction are way worse. Feels like standing on wood without shoes. I plan on sending mine in for a resole and new cork next fall
His thursday videos must be ads. Most boot youtubers giving lavish praise to Thursdays feel like ads and all sound the same, and the idea that the construction of these boots gets better with age is a little ridiculous
@@jameso87 I have nicks, whites, Wescos, red wing and wolverines. They all have their place and I still love my Thursdays they’re comfortable enough and do have better shock absorption. 200$ honestly can’t be beat.
Seeing this makes me a little more confident to maybe get a pair for casual wear. Have you put the Thursday moc toes through a significant amount to wear yet?
I have had a pair (Burnt copper) for 7 or 8 months. They broke in well and the leather has softened up, and have really good arch support. They can pinch my toes toward the end of the day, but I think that just means the last isn't really the best fit for my foot.
Great content as usual, Nick. Those boots are GORGEOUS! I have the same boot and can't wait for them to look like that. What exactly did you use to condition those??
I love your channel and have been watching for years. I have a bunch of different boots, and last year finally bought a pair of Captains. I got the matte black but I think I failed to realise that the rugged and resilient means the leather is thicker and stiffer so they have taken so long to break in and are more Winter boots for me than anything else. I love the boots but would love a pair of brown Captains that are much softer, I gather from this review that the normal Captains have much softer leather, is that correct?
Good to know about Thursdays boots. I have a pair of nice waterproof leather Cougar Chelsea’s that I got 2 years ago (on sale, the regular price wasn’t cheap) and they’re holding up really well. I need to get conditioner for the leather, and the inside has stood up well. I think they still need to break in a bit. I’m looking for a second pair. Maybe Thursday shoes might work. Are they water proof?
I think we need a review on the Arizona Adobe leather. I got my brother a pair and he likes them and I think that leather is awesome so I just ordered a pair.
They're okay. The knock off Dianite sole wears quite quickly on cement/asphalt and it's done after about 18 months. They can be resoled for around $125. Doesn't seem worth it but YMMV. If you like the hipster boot style for casual walkimg around they're fine.
I really like how they look but I have the Captains and I must say they're not comfy at all for long distance walking. Maybe its something inherent to my feet but they're just not working out for me. Could it be the giant heel on the boots? I dunno.
Are you planning to do a full review of an Adelante product? It seem to be one of the few companies that offers truly extended widths. I'm personally interested in the Santiago or Havana. I can't find any reviews on their boots. Would be much appreciated!
You know the only Adelante boot I have are the ones I made myself so idt I can review them exactly, but I'd like to think the documentary thing I made about their creation could serve as a review ruclips.net/video/XCDwistu7jk/видео.html
I bought a couple pairs of Thursdays, but the President last is just too narrow for my toes. The Diplomat is better, but still tight even after moving up true to size. Fortunately, there is a good alternative: the Wolverine BLVD. The construction and leather are comparable, and the price is even better. I also find the last, and the leather lining, far more comfortable.
I'd say Wolverine's BLVD boot is a direct competitor to the Thursday boot. Similar price point, BLVDs do go on sale, I bought mine for about $140 over a year ago, but they don't have nearly as many leather options.
The Thursday last just doesn't work for me. The Wolverine BLVD does, and I would judge the construction as comparable to Thursday (probably same factory). No shank, but it has a removable insole, and grippy heel and sole. But I wouldn't have found the Wolverines if not for Thursday. A good introductory boot.
Did you got them resoled? Soles look like new from ware perspective? How do you find them next to older earlyer run you have in classic brown from your first pare you had?
why they do make toecap flat? also the selection of boots are very similar. boots should have a decent shaft, at least 6 inch. but most of the handmades dont do this. dont know why
My pr is just turning 2 yrs old. I do need a resole but the boots look great and have several yrs life left in them. And that is my problem, a resole is 160 dollars and a new pr is 200 dollars , hate to get rid of the boots but its cheaper to get a new pr!
I assume you have the captains in multiple colours, could you compare the colours please. I'm not sure whether to go for the brown, terracotta, or dark olive suede.
I planned a video of going and showing all the leathers but was worried it'd look too much like an ad haha, but they're not far from me and I think people would like it. But Terracotta and brown are both in this video, I have dark olive and they're a very dark green
I think a lot of people are still skeptical of this company because of their low prices. I mean, looking at the materials no they aren’t some cordovan vibergs but Thursday’s use reliable materials and it is great value. You could argue that you’d want to save and spend a lot more on a boot that will last a lot longer but…I’m okay wish spending a lot less on a boot that will still last a long time. Plus if you’re here you already have a boot rotation going lol.
I am torm on presidents or the captains kinda like the presidents more but idk guess cadets more popular? I need something good for work and casual wear
My diplomats are at a year old worn daily. I wear my Thorogood's for work and my Thursday's for everything else. Knees, hips, back are all better and I honestly don't know if I'll ever wear another pair of sneakers

Is it possible to add another insole?
@furr666 having worn both I can tell you the most comfortable boots I own are not either but thoroughgood lol. Red wings are solid though.
Props for answering the question right at the beginning, tired if people who wait until the middle to answer
Great video mate! You’ve made me feel very good about recently purchasing my first pair of boots, I went with the black matte president 👌🏾
Oh nice! The President doesn't get enough love. I still need to review mine
My wife got me the black matte President for Christmas. Is a great addition to my rotation.
Size is great cause I have a wide foot, E or EE..style is great and I have had no problems so far…
I wish I could other brands as well, but they don’t have many wide sizes..
Thanks Nick.

@@wyaTylerI walk 40 miles a week and I can’t do it.
Appreciate the BPJ you're rocking along with the boots.
I just ordered my first pair and I’m excited even more after this review.
update please
@@decadeyt5891 they took a few times to get worn in, but after a year, they’re holding up nicely. I’m happy with the purchase.
Great review! This is so helpful and thorough! Good work
I love my bison leather cadets.. I was diagnosed with planter fasciitis and the first thing my pediatrist told me was to stop wearing vans and get a pair of boots.
Hah that's awesome. I still don't have a pair of bison boots I'd love to try them
Always impressed when I saw you do those pistol squats...
Then yesterday I stumbled across an old Barbend video and who was a spokesman?
Mr. Stridewise .
Haha! BarBend is where I learned how to make a website! And also lots of things about fitness :D
@@Stridewise it was cool to see you there.
@@Zero-Wolf poser
On what size last are the Captain’s boots made on? I know Red Wing Iron Ranger’s are made on 8.
I own a dozen pair and love each of them. No issues. Very comfortable right out of the box!
I’ve had mine over 3 years and they’ve held up like champs. Are they Trumans, Whites, or Grant Stones? No, but for $200 they’re robust, pretty tough boots and I think they age nicely. (I have the captains)
Thank you! I was curious as well how that foam bed would fare with time.
This review assured my purchase. I cannot wait for them to come in.
Very insightful review. Thanks, I think I might buy one now that I know that it lasts.
I've collected so many. And my fave pair is over 4 years old.
Be well!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Frank! Which Grant Stones are your favorites? I've been wearing their kangaroo leather Ottawas a TON this winter
Holy Patina!! Gorgeous patina, Good video.
Thanks! A testament to Venetian Shoe Cream as well as the leather itself haha
Man crush haha wish I could look so dapper everyday. Great follow up Nick. Can’t wait to see what my burnt copper caps look like in 2 years
Good review! More follow up reviews! Would love to see one on urban shepherd!
I'm afraid I gave those away, I didn't know people would still be asking me about them years later but they do a lot!
@@Stridewise they we’re a interesting boot….I guess I’ll have to get a pair lol
This is completely random but I’m looking to buy a pair of koio capris but I’m stuck on the size I should get, I don’t want to get too big or too small but I wear a 10 in my Nike blazers but a 9 1/2 in my Thursday boots
I'm a 10 in Thursdays and I got a 9 in the Koio capris. It's a little on the tight side but workable. Hope that helps you
I got my normal sneaker size actually, a size 12, the 11s were too tight on me. I'm 11.5 in Captains, my Brannock size is like 11.6 ish
@@Stridewise sweet man thank you for your help 😊
@@BB-gl7zt were they tight around the toes or width wise?
Just received my dark olives captains. My favorite!
Wait I though Thursday said the rugged and resilient line was NOT to be conditioned, as it'll ruin the rugged effect. Did it turn out ok? or just company flush
Just got a pair, glad to see it was a good investment.
I just purchased the matte black legends hybrid boot / Chelsea they look clean hope you di a review of those soon
Do you condition the dusty suede boots with something or any suggestions to make them like the dark olive colour?
Do the women's captain boot have a steel shank? A Thursday rep told me they do and there is no difference between the men's and women's captain. But it's not listed on the product page like it is on the men's. I found one website review that claimed the only difference between the two is that the women's don't have a steel shank.
I asked Thursday's CMO and he confirmed it has a steel shank, I imagine it's not on the product page because saying there's unbendable steel in your boot is something that turns more women off than men
@@Stridewise thank you!
I got a pair of captains the tongue of my one boot leans to one side. I don't know what I can do to fix it?!
I was sold on the boot but the presentation was just as good 🎉
Interesting to see how your soles havent really detached at all. One of my pairs of captains is only a year old, and the soles are like completely coming apart
My girlfriends boots are doing the very same after 3 months of wear.
I have heard this has happened to many people, a small bit of my toes is missing the wearablility is OK.
That’s what happens at every rubber-bottom sole that’s attached to a leather midsole. No matter what the price.
You can’t stitch through the rubber…
I bought these about 14 months ago and like them very much. Great value. Buy them.
Glad you like them Michael!
Are the Terracotta considered part of the rugged and resilient line? Asking so I know if I should be using leather conditioner or not? Thanks!
What’s the cuffing protocol for jeans and boots? Cuff to the top of the boot standing? Or some overlap off the top of the boot?
I’ve been considering a pair of Thursday Boots Vanguard in the Waxed Cacao leather. They are unique in that they have a Cuban heel as opposed to other Vanguard styles
I’d be very interested to see you review this boot. Still priced below many other similar boots.
I have that boot, and it’s a beautiful leather- you won’t be disappointed and if you are, ship it back for free. Got mine 3 years ago and it has the much better Vibram sole, not the Thursday sole
@@Kinosec-10 thanks for the info!
Which is my comfy?? Diplomats or Captains?
An intriguing budget option, since I'm getting back into footwear.
Good review. However I do disagree that the comfort is the same or better after two years. In fact my Presidents, with the same construction are way worse. Feels like standing on wood without shoes. I plan on sending mine in for a resole and new cork next fall
Same here. Resoled with new cork, Vibram soles ($80) and they are still feeling great long after the original soles became painful
@@Kinosec-10 Im glad to know better cork helped!
@@simonmandrakejones thanks!
I have my Brandy Captains on the way now as I type this.
Great content as usual, Nick. Those boots are GORGEOUS! I have the same boot and can't wait for them to look like that. What exactly did you use to condition those??
Leather honey is a really good product. I use it on my stuff.
Pleasssssse do your Vanguards! The up-charge for the made in America line has had me on the fence for months!
Well worth it, I have had a few set of their boots and only 1 set have been retired after 4 years of wearing.
what jeans are you wearing in the video with the boots? they also look great.
You remind me of jon cryer from two and a half men lol. I ordered a pair in natural . Looking forward to seeing them age over a couple years..
How warm are these? Can they be worn in 60-70 degree weather without feing like you are overheating? Thank you
I have had mine for 5 years. Still solid
I really like how they look but I have the Captains and I must say they're not comfy at all for long distance walking. Maybe its something inherent to my feet but they're just not working out for me. Could it be the giant heel on the boots? I dunno.
there's no retailer here in australia
Are you planning to do a full review of an Adelante product? It seem to be one of the few companies that offers truly extended widths. I'm personally interested in the Santiago or Havana. I can't find any reviews on their boots. Would be much appreciated!
You know the only Adelante boot I have are the ones I made myself so idt I can review them exactly, but I'd like to think the documentary thing I made about their creation could serve as a review ruclips.net/video/XCDwistu7jk/видео.html
being honest lets say you wear them 2-3 days a weak how long can you expect they would last?
I bought a couple pairs of Thursdays, but the President last is just too narrow for my toes. The Diplomat is better, but still tight even after moving up true to size. Fortunately, there is a good alternative: the Wolverine BLVD. The construction and leather are comparable, and the price is even better. I also find the last, and the leather lining, far more comfortable.
Beckett Simonon usually has deals and their boots end up being about $200. I like my Chelsea boots. The only problem is waiting 3 months to get them.
That's true I guess, I think it's a big ask to wait so long for the average joe! I want to try Wolverine's BLVD though
