You can look used depending on what you want, some parts basically don't age, I have some old xeon from 2008 and it still easily runs anything without a sweat at like 100 fps(unless the gpu holds it back). It was also dirt cheap.
Also, once you have all your programs installed and desktop customized to your liking, create a FULL SYSTEM DISK IMAGE BACKUP. I can't stress enough how important this is! Then, if your computer gets a virus or messed up, you can restore back to this point. It will save you the hell of reinstalling the OS and having to reinstall your programs. If you do ever need to restore, be sure to run updates on everything.
@@Manimanocas It compresses your files, but it's always a good idea to use a backup drive that's larger. Over time, you're likely to install more programs as well as they will get larger with updates. This will avoid any "not enough space" problems down the line when you backup again :)

Quite a few years ago I was downloading from Kazaa (I know, I just dated myself.) I downloaded what I thought was a Star Wars movie and when it showed up it was labeled "LOL" I stupidly clicked on it and it suddenly showed it was deleting the entire OS files. Luckily it was a joke file and it wasn't really deleting the OS but it scared the shit out of me.
Ditch the 3rd party antivirus because Windows Security is good enough, and add a professional backup software like Macrium Reflect Free, that can backup all specified partitions into an Image file and has a schedule backup feature.

I would add create a standard user account and use THAT instead of the Administrator account that Windows comes with. That way if you DO get hit with a virus that tries to install something it will have to ask for your Administrator password and you can stop it from installing that way.

@@Thormosphere nah but standby mode actually turns off almost all of the components. The only thing that is powered is the RAM (storing your OS session) and maybe the CPU for receiving a wake-up signal, depending on setting also mouse and keyboard for wake-up. Imo following insight is for an active use of the computer and becomes quite significant when we consider the massive amount of personal computers (clients, which don't have to run at max all the time). Assumably the clock speed of CPU and GPU (using special software) are the main determining factors when it comes to required power input. But it also controls standby timeout, display on time, USB save mode and other stuff. You could definitely go ahead and disable/close unnecessary or power hungry apps to reduce the needed processor power. Also, I think it helps to set your network card output limit to the next step above your internet speed to save some power. Power saving mode CPU clock can be overridden by BIOS settings, at least for AMD CPUs. For example you have dynamic clock speed enabled in the BIOS, then the Windows power mode setting might not have any effect. You have to check how your clock works on different power modes, you can test it with different min values. If it doesn't act the way you set it up to, then changing the BIOS power mode is an option. Usually tho, by default it should be set to automatic frequency change. GPU also eats a lot of energy when running at full power. Hard drives nowadays (HDD and SSD) require low amount of electrical power. Monitor power heavily depends on energy class and brightness. That being said, it's relatively easy to help the environment to recover a bit by managing our devices' electrical consumption.

It's unfortunate that Microsoft doesn't offer a clean copy of Windows 10 without Microsoft Store apps installed. Also, go into settings and turn off the advertisements.
Speaking of Serial Number, I always remove them from the bottom and put it next to the OEM logo so that they can see it right away (warranty ended but it's still important though)
The thing about bitdefender is that there's an issue with it. On some devices, once you install it, it will say that it needs to restart, and once you restart, it keeps restarting over and over again. The way to fix this is to: 1) disconnect from wifi and turn on airoplane mode (this will stop it from restarting) 2) go to the control panel and uninstall any bitdefender app that's in there and all should be good.
Hey Joe, this isn’t a problem but it’s a feature I wish I had (I am running windows 10 Pro). When I boot the computer up, there are certain things that slow it down because they are “in the startup” folder. Point is I WANT them to be in the startup folder. (I have already taken out the things that I don’t want to be in there. So that’s not the issue.)The issue is I would like to have (e.g.) a little box appear (like “READY”) on the screen when the computer is really ENTIRELY booted up. The reason is that if you go to use the computer before it’s totally up (When it appears to be!!) things aren’t always ready to work as well yet.

Just for ur info... if you get a new pc the most important thing u must do is update drivers. Thats pretty much all you gotta do and if your using ur pc as a gaming pc put it to high performance not balanced or power save to get the most performance out of ur pc 1. Update drivers/GPU 2. select pc to High performance/for gaming etc... these u must do. nothing else matters as much.
Usually for antivirus i would instead set Windows User Accour Control to max, windows defenders settings all on, and an adblocker on the browser like uBlock Origin
Most antiviruses slow down your PC, try to shove the pro version down your throat and dont allow scheduled scan or real time protection (makes the antivirus autoscan a program when its installed) in the free version

try to shove the pro version down your throat and dont allow scheduled scan or real time protection (makes the antivirus autoscan a program when its installed) in the free version
And "Unsubscribe" from any spam emails
