    No, it's just because the camera films only at 25 or 30 frames per second. When the fan appears to be moving very slowly or spinning in the other direction it is because those 25 or 30 fps of the camera "sync" with the RPMs of the fan.

    I flew twice on the 777. I love these take offs showing the inlet and condensation. I did some calculations on the GE90 engines for fan shaft power. I referenced an ihi.co.jp pdf paper on line. Speaking of the -94 and -115 versions respectively, the fans turn at 2850 and 2550 RPM, of diameters 123 and 128 inches, with fan shaft torque of 225,000 and 293,500 ft lb, and power level of 122,000 and 142,480 horsepower (includes LP compressor). The fan shaft is maraging steel of 55 Rc hardness!

    Condensation is inversely proportioned to temperature and pressure.
    In other words, to get condensation (fog, clouds) you need to lower the temperature and decrease the pressure.
    On takeoff, the engine sucks so much air that there is a huge pressure difference in the intake creating a mini-vacuum of air in front of the engine. Because there is less air pressure, it condenses the air and you see fog!

  • @asulca593

    @YOYOYUKIO the generally accepted explanation is that this is caused by the sharp drop in air pressure in the mouth of the engine, causing the humid air to drop below the dew point, at which the water vapor condenses to form a fog or cloud
    look up Prandtl-Glauert Singularity...it is pretty scientific stuff, but that's the basic idea

    @infoseeker229 Two reasons...one, so that folks on the tarmac can see that the engine is running & not walk in front of & accidentally get sucked into the engine. Two, the strobing of the white spiral when the engine is in operation scares off birds who might think they can fly into and/or through the engine while it is in flight.

    @Bakhti66 US traffic restrictions. Inbound flights from Pakistan to the USA cannot fly direct because of security. They have to go via Manchester or somewhere else where they get checked again for suspicious cargo or passengers. That's the way it is for now but MAN enthusiasts are happy to see PIA with the 772LR

    @Keelz7196 Your normally stabilise them to about 50-55% N1 to make sure every things ok, also depending on the life cycles of each engine, they may spool up at different times. If your on a wet runway, go to take off power and only get it from one engine as the other is spooling up, you could risk veering off the runway with that much asymmetrical thrust. Its just standard procedure for most modern commercial jets.

  • @Kiraina
    @Kiraina 14 лет назад

    Well the annoying buzz or growl sound tells me these are Rolls Royce engines so it has to be either a 200 200ER or 300. The 200LR and 300ER use GE engines exclusively. It also seems to have raked wingtips and I believe the 200 and 300 have conventional wing tips, I'm not sure though. So If I had to guess my guess would be 777-200ER.

  • @RixceU

    They're actually not using full power on this takeoff, probably more like 85-90% of full power. However the N1 speed (speed of front engine fan, I believe) is probably around 100, out of about 109 or 110 for full power. MAN-JFK is a fairly short flight for this aircraft, which has a range of around 7500nm.

    That sound once she gets off the ground, it is almost a rattling, is that the fan blade passing frequency? If so, it would seem too low, I would think that the fan blades would be passing faster, I need a frequency analyzer. With 22 blades at 2450 RPM that is 900 Hz. That 777 really jumps off the ground!
