Can we just take a moment to thank Hans Holbien for his amazing works of this time. His portraits truly bring the Tudors to life, and give you such an idea what his subjects were like. The eyes have so much behind them and I am thankful you can use them for your recreations.
You can see why they were so coveted by the court and used to “suss out” possible matches like Anne of Cleeves. They feel almost close to photographs, capturing both the look and personality of the sitter!

It's interesting how Jane looks so plain in Tudor clothing, but when she's put into modern styles she looks quite lovely! They're a much more flattering look on her, I think. Also, it's sweet to see how much Edward resembled his mother. He at least got to see a little bit of his mother live every time he looked in the mirror.
Also, the kid who played Edward in Becoming Elizabeth (who was an amazing actor and stole every scene he was in) looks uncannily similar to your recreation of him. The casting directors really knocked it out of the park with him and Mary.
I was thinking that she probably looked to their eyes like the modern version does to us. We aren't accustomed to seeing the no-makeup, no-loose hair version of women, but to them, that was normal and more beautiful that we can perceive.
Gotta feel sympathy for Edward, imagine being 15 and welcoming death. Quite a statement on what is was like to be top tier royalty in England back then. This is a beautifully done piece.
His illness was so horrible, he suffered in ways unimaginable and his body changed in ways that shocked everyone. Bedsores, gangrene, nonstop coughing, broken digestive system and swelling of limbs (failing kidneys, obviously) were among them. And there were those barbaric remedies of the time. Crazy that it took so long to realize that having a female heir would be just as valid as a male heir & that it took Elizabeth the 2nd to recognize putting that into place with Charlotte being 2nd in line to her brother.
Matilda would have been the first English Queen to rule in her own right, had she been crowned in 1141. She was never crowned. We should also remember that portraits of royalty tended to present their subjects in the best manner possible. I have seen a realistic drawing of Henry VIII in more than one book where he doesn't look like the Henry VIII as painted by Holbein.
I always love your videos and especially love European history (although it wasn't my forte in school)...your recreations at the end, showing us what these people may have looked like now, are so interesting and much appreciated. I think Jane was actually beautiful in her "modern" recreation. And I can totally see modern Edward as a regular kid in prep school. The bottom line is, they are all just like us to some degree. Different times and circumstances, clearly, but regular folks at their cores nonetheless.
Love how the recreation came out, also love the history and how we get her life because most people know her as Henry 8th’s third wife when she was so much more, btw loveeeee yourrrrrrr Chanelllllll❤❤❤❤
Edward really did get his father's good looks! Am I the only one who thinks the modern Edward looks like Mark Zuckerberg? I love that you did an aged-up version of Edward too. Makes me wonder how history would be different if he had lived.
Well done! Very enjoyable and educated! I feel I understand all their stories much better, and as always I feel so sad for these people! Makes me SO glad I live today even with all the junk happening in our time.
Jane is mostly known as "The King's favorite wife" or as "The Mistress" but she was more, she was kind and maintained a good friendship with Princess Mary and she even pushed for Henry to let Mary back into the line of succession. She looked beuatiful in the modern representation and she did look plain in tudor clothing, Great video!

I absolutely love these. I know it takes a lot of time and research. Thank you
Love your voice... So soothing... Wish my history teacher is as good as you! ❤
Wowww.. my goodness. Well done on the lifelike qualities. Jane as her modern day self is stunning. Edward in his time-jump portrait made me flinch .. so much life and possibilities on the What If he'd lived...
I wonder if this is where the term plain Jane comes from
A double! Absolutely stunning. Thank you Becca and André. These are beautiful recreations of mother and son. Thank you both for showing us their humanity. ❣️⭐️🙏🏾😊
I love the modern day recreations!
I like Alison Weir’s theory that Jane died from a pulmonary embolism not puerperal fever. It’s a sound theory!
Love the recreations and the narrative.
Thank you again for these amazing recreations. Always look forward to your videos. Gosh they were both so young when they died.
Seeing these portraits of them and at the same time, it is undoubtedly to me they look so much alike. The modernized portraits of them make them seem as an average american mother and son. Well done 🤍✨
Also, could consider to recrearte Simón Bolivar's lover, Manuela Sáenz's portraits? 🤭🙃
This is my favorite! But then every new one you do is my favorite! Wonderful!
wow you're right about the resemblance between Edward and Elizabeth. the whole Tudor dynasty is quite sad
I love your stories and results of all of your subjects. I look forward to each and every one of them. Thank you so much!
Love how the recreation came out, also love the history and how we get her life because most people know her as Henry 8th’s third wife when she was so much more, btw loveeeee yourrrrrrr Chanelllllll❤❤❤❤
Fantastic, as always!
This is the first time I’ve listened to detailed coverage of Jane and Edward. Thanks!
Edward really did get his father's good looks! Am I the only one who thinks the modern Edward looks like Mark Zuckerberg? I love that you did an aged-up version of Edward too. Makes me wonder how history would be different if he had lived.
Thank you so much for sharing your talent with the world - bringing history alive!!!
This is outstanding! I love it when You make them smile! Thank You!
Another fabulous recreation! You literally bring the past to life❤
Well done! Very enjoyable and educated! I feel I understand all their stories much better, and as always I feel so sad for these people! Makes me SO glad I live today even with all the junk happening in our time.
Brilliant.I love how you bring history to life 🥰
Wonderful recreations as usual. Modern day Edward looks like Ollie from Josh and Ollie!
I don’t know how you do these recreations, but I am always stunned by them. Wowza!! Amazing work! Thank you! ❤
Great video as always! 👏🏽
My favorite thing on RUclips, by a lot. Its like pausing time
So beautifully done!
Thank you for another wonderful video!
Jane is mostly known as "The King's favorite wife" or as "The Mistress" but she was more, she was kind and maintained a good friendship with Princess Mary and she even pushed for Henry to let Mary back into the line of succession. She looked beuatiful in the modern representation and she did look plain in tudor clothing,
Great video!
This is once again an exquisite piece of work. Narrated perfectly. Thanks
Thank you! So cool!!
All of the vides are fantastic thank you watched them all.
Interesting how we can now recreate these portraits ...thank you for sharing,
