I am so glad a Koenigsegg owner and actually a hypercar owner pointed out the reality of Bugattis self claimed "record" when they covered up every bit of information and just released a video showing how their car reached 300mph+ in just one way. But in reality you can see is not as believable as they say because the math does not add up, if you do the math from the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut that shows it reaches 320mph+ is shows that to overcome drag at those speeds, it needs at least 2700 HP... Thats why I fell in love with Koenigsegg, because despite being a relative "small company" what Koenigsegg managed to archive with his brand is astonishing.
Bugatti is still better no matter how you put it no matter how you dislike it but the fact remains it's a GT car that so happens to be the fastest best luxury all round daily usable statement making i made it car and they're reliable they literally have the greatest engineers on their side

The problem is the Koenigsegg is out of its element in a half mile race. This is especially true when faced against an electric. But if you take a Koenigsegg and a Tesla on anything more complex than an oval track, then the Tesla will soil itself every time. It’s too heavy and the brakes are too weak.
As much as I enjoyed the original video (and this), I would have enjoyed it even more if the weather had been much warmer. Cold temp, high power and rwd = 😭

I mean, the K just isn't going to accelerate that hard off a start given its light weight, stupid amount of power and high performance, low-profile tires. That amount of power shuttled to two tires just isn't going to get to the ground. Meanwhile the electric car is not only AWD but can meter out torque/power in fine degrees to prevent wheelspin.

@@Smzxe I have a 911 Turbo S with about 700hp (991.2) and I have those tires. You're right that they suck in those conditions, they are not good in damp and cold. Which is basically my point, the tires weren't the right ones for the conditions and no way they'd get grip until the car was moving well even without the massive power of a big-turbo V8. The Cup2R is a track tire that is streetable in warm, dry conditions.

Kudos to the honest questions and answers. Let's be a bit more fair. Koenigsegg fans have been putting down Bugatti's for years for being fat, and having an unnecessary big engine, number of radiators, weight, etc. But that thing can do launch control over and over again, even if their owners don't seem to know how to even use it. There's no question that Koenigeggs are brilliant engineering masterpieces, but comparing them to Bugatti's are not really apples to apples.
18:48 woah woah woah, hold on people. the Chiron ss 300+ that broke 300mph is in fact a production car. 30 units have been sold of the 300+, the reason it didn't get the record was because it ran in one direction only. requirements for an official speed record needs two runs in opposite directions wich the Chiron did not do. also, the Chiron ss in the video on the Hamilton collection was most likely not in top speed mode, as its top speed without speed key is about 236MPH, which is what the car sort of maxed out. backing up this fact is there are many other videos of Chiron doing some acceleration runs going faster, there are even videos of the base Chiron going way faster than the super sport in that one Hamilton collection. Johnny bohmer's video for example. just correcting you guys there 👍

I don't like carwow much, all they do is drag race cars (often not designed for it), manually shift auto boxes (slower than the computer) and matt can't drive manual for crap and only does well because he jumps with the terrible flagging (use lights like any professional street racer/drag racer) and gets away with it. WORST of all? They don't even have trap speeds, just times (even though their VBOX tells them and you rarely see it). 1/4 without trap speed is useless, it would show a K-segg with much higher trap speed and slower time = going to overtake plaid. Been in both plaids and they are no joke. Guy I know who has a few Mclarens said they'd smoke his latest 720S in a drag when he got a new plaid... and it' s a 7 seater xD And yeah throw some corners in or a few laps, that Plaid is gone, pulling power and the rest. edit: for car wow to omit your car pulling power/exhaust issues is really deceptive. They never compared the two or explicitly stated that or mentioned anything about having to make a choice between the two. Also, you said it yourself, you don't like Ferarris. I think he was just saying that he would get more value from the 458. The Agera RS is a monster and I would rather see it on a track or raced around the Nürburgring.

That said I think Stradman? tested his in the heat of the desert on a runway...it underperformed massively again...because it apparently wasn't delivering full power due to it been.....too hot.
@kevin-l7r7p he tested it on a super hot and humid day and when he actually went for the top speed he forgot to shift into the last gear and was just bouncing on the redline for over 15 seconds so the car overheated and broke down. That is the worst test u could ever use as an example.
@kevin-l7r7p also no car on earth will run max power on a super hot day. Like any high horsepower car will overheat when oushing the limits on a super hot day. Lamborghini for example needs to cool down after a couple of laps on a hot day on track.

Ok Volkswagen did lend some of the underlying technology but Bugatti engineers customize and innovated them to meet the specific needs of their vehicles, Koenigsegg had some backing too nothing wrong with that. Rimac took over from VW, correct, but I'm not sure what are you suggesting? Nobody said Koenigsegg doesn't require high maintenance; Bugatti, along with other hypercars, requires high maintenance. It was an example of a Bugatti, using the SS from THC. THC didn't use the speed key, but their latest video showed exactly how much extra power you get from the speed key, and it wasn't a huge difference. As mentioned, there's no hate towards Bugatti as one coming to the collection would be welcomed, they're a luxury hypercar.

The problem is the Koenigsegg is out of its element in a half mile race. This is especially true when faced against an electric. But if you take a Koenigsegg and a Tesla on anything more complex than an oval track, then the Tesla will soil itself every time. It’s too heavy and the brakes are too weak.
Bugatti easily beat Telsa in the 1/4 mile.

I mean, the K just isn't going to accelerate that hard off a start given its light weight, stupid amount of power and high performance, low-profile tires. That amount of power shuttled to two tires just isn't going to get to the ground. Meanwhile the electric car is not only AWD but can meter out torque/power in fine degrees to prevent wheelspin.

@@Smzxe I have a 911 Turbo S with about 700hp (991.2) and I have those tires. You're right that they suck in those conditions, they are not good in damp and cold. Which is basically my point, the tires weren't the right ones for the conditions and no way they'd get grip until the car was moving well even without the massive power of a big-turbo V8. The Cup2R is a track tire that is streetable in warm, dry conditions.

A high powered rear-wheel drive car is never going to launch as well as an all-wheel drive electric car, the Plaid murders most things in a drag race, you plant your foot and go. We saw once the egg was in the correct gear on a roll he pulled, as he always would.

Hamilton collection did not use speed key car was in track mode resulting 0.41 Cd drag coefficient it's very high drag on higher speeds
Because of no speed key it's stuck at 236-238 mph same with a standard Chiron
Car should be in top speed mode with 0.35 Cd with top speed key for lowest drag coefficient and Fastest top end acceleration it would have hit 273 mph on that Kennedy space center Runway
They raced in hot humid weather almost 100° Fahrenheit and 90% humidity Chiron SS was heavily effected by the weather

Kudos to the honest questions and answers. Let's be a bit more fair. Koenigsegg fans have been putting down Bugatti's for years for being fat, and having an unnecessary big engine, number of radiators, weight, etc. But that thing can do launch control over and over again, even if their owners don't seem to know how to even use it. There's no question that Koenigeggs are brilliant engineering masterpieces, but comparing them to Bugatti's are not really apples to apples.
18:48 woah woah woah, hold on people. the Chiron ss 300+ that broke 300mph is in fact a production car. 30 units have been sold of the 300+, the reason it didn't get the record was because it ran in one direction only. requirements for an official speed record needs two runs in opposite directions wich the Chiron did not do. also, the Chiron ss in the video on the Hamilton collection was most likely not in top speed mode, as its top speed without speed key is about 236MPH, which is what the car sort of maxed out. backing up this fact is there are many other videos of Chiron doing some acceleration runs going faster, there are even videos of the base Chiron going way faster than the super sport in that one Hamilton collection. Johnny bohmer's video for example.

200hp RWD car will break traction ondemand in speed with just gas pedal when roads are +6c. We have exactly those degrees her for last couople of weeks and my 30 years old shit box is immediately loose when giving gas. Think about lighter car with 6-7 times the power. If the asphalt was 20c°, then it is totally different ballgame.
People who suggest a microwave on wheels is better than a proper car, just because it can cook quicker (in a straight line), they’re NOT car people, and have NEVER experienced a true performance car. 💥
I dont think you buy a Koenigsegg to beat or race a Tesla in a straight line. Try ANY other race. Also when people buy cars and leave them to sit, its gota be seen as an investment into art almost. Also, its always nice to find these pristine 20,40, 80 year old cars. Has its purpose to.
That's very true. Yes, I don't agree with holding cars, but that's me... people can do as they please.
I don't like carwow much, all they do is drag race cars (often not designed for it), manually shift auto boxes (slower than the computer) and matt can't drive manual for crap and only does well because he jumps with the terrible flagging (use lights like any professional street racer/drag racer) and gets away with it.
WORST of all? They don't even have trap speeds, just times (even though their VBOX tells them and you rarely see it). 1/4 without trap speed is useless, it would show a K-segg with much higher trap speed and slower time = going to overtake plaid.
Been in both plaids and they are no joke. Guy I know who has a few Mclarens said they'd smoke his latest 720S in a drag when he got a new plaid... and it' s a 7 seater xD
And yeah throw some corners in or a few laps, that Plaid is gone, pulling power and the rest.
edit: for car wow to omit your car pulling power/exhaust issues is really deceptive. Even less respect for them doing that now... damn. As bad as top gear pretending the tesla roadster ran outta battery.

They never compared the two or explicitly stated that or mentioned anything about having to make a choice between the two. Also, you said it yourself, you don't like Ferarris. I think he was just saying that he would get more value from the 458. The Agera RS is a monster and I would rather see it on a track or raced around the Nürburgring.

That said I think Stradman? tested his in the heat of the desert on a runway...it underperformed massively again...because it apparently wasn't delivering full power due to it been.....too hot.
@kevin-l7r7p he tested it on a super hot and humid day and when he actually went for the top speed he forgot to shift into the last gear and was just bouncing on the redline for over 15 seconds so the car overheated and broke down. That is the worst test u could ever use as an example.
@kevin-l7r7p also no car on earth will run max power on a super hot day. Like any high horsepower car will overheat when oushing the limits on a super hot day. Lamborghini for example needs to cool down after a couple of laps on a hot day on track.

A RWD 720s basically matches the results I've seen of real world koenigsegg tests so far. And there's plenty of cars that run fundamentally flat out in extreme temperatures for 60+ laps at a time. Look up F1 or any other racing category...

Ok Volkswagen did lend some of the underlying technology but Bugatti engineers customize and innovated them to meet the specific needs of their vehicles, Koenigsegg had some backing too nothing wrong with that. The point is that you guys got a lot of basic information wrong maybe you're one Google search away from getting that information and acknowledge the error
Rimac took over from VW, correct, but I'm not sure what are you suggesting? Nobody said Koenigsegg doesn't require high maintenance; Bugatti, along with other hypercars, requires high maintenance. It was an example of a Bugatti, using the SS from THC. THC didn't use the speed key, but their latest video showed exactly how much extra power you get from the speed key, and it wasn't a huge difference. As mentioned, there's no hate towards Bugatti as one coming to the collection would be welcomed, they're a luxury hypercar.
