- Duran Duran performing at Live Aid in front of 100,000 people in the John F. Kennedy Stadium, Philadelphia USA on the 13th July, 1985. The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.

I was born in 1962. We saw the whole concert on TV back then.
It was unique, wonderful, an experience.

Most people didn’t know it at the time( obviously), this was the last time the original 5 would play together, and it would be 15 years before it happened again. Great song, brings back great memories.

I was there! One of the best days of my life.
To this day, this was the best concert i have ever been to. Nothing since can ever compare, and unless you suffered thru the traffic, heat, busted toilets, $5.00 cans of warm Coke and crammed packed stadium you will never ever had the experience like "Live Aid"

watched the UK one, and then flipped to watch this with duran duran. Memories...and the uniqueness of the event. Prior twin towers, and fear mongering, prior internet, and prior international communities like youtube. the world was or seemed, a safer more naieve place. This whole event had a spirit that was palpable and authentic. I think its all of the above for me that makes it just so special.

Great memory. I just loved DD In 1985 at age 20 and recall watching this live at house with friends. This is still great to see and hear in 2022. Pop music now is TERRIBLE and these guys worked hard and sounded great live. They really are good musicians!

I like how they focused a bit on Nick’s keyboard work. He usually gets ignored by the cameramen since his job is so ‘sedentary’, but someone was fascinated by how he made the famous warble and adagio arpeggiated sequence. I love this version of Save A Prayer. I missed it that day because my family was in suck-mode, but I’m glad I can watch it now here.
Get yourself a Roland Jupiter 8 and have a go !!!!! They are very expensive though.
The Richard Wright of the eighties I always thought
Simon Le Bon age 26 in July 1985 and in 2019 he is 60 until October 27th turning 61. We share the same birthday but different year. Him 1958 and me 1967. He's still performing as if he was a lot younger than 61. Love his guitar, it's an acoustic guitar by Ovation, I remember watching this on MTV back during the original broadcast. Living in Hawaii. Age 17 and now 51. Time flies. This was a great performance. A real highlight of Live Aid.

MY GUESS is you never watched this first time round, and so are not reflecting back fondly at what was a very different, less frightening, but magificent era in music - where, even the so called 'boy bands' were first class musicians and song writers, that actually created the entire piece.

This is my favorite DD song. I was a rocker chick in the 80s and never appreciated just how freakin great DD was. Now that I’m older I can’t get enough of their music. Fantastic band!

I grew up in the 80s (and early 90s). Duran Duran was my favourite band growing up... This is one of my favourite Duran Duran songs. So glad I found these Live Aid videoes!! Madonna, George Michael, Freddie, Bowie, U2, Elton....!!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

That's right, David Rogers, it's really really hard to sing that much off-key and still be able to make records and fool people into thinking you're a singer. So full marks to Simon Le Bon for fooling all of the people some of the time with studio tricks.

I remember the first time I listened to this song when I made my first trip to Arraial do Cabo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1982.

Most people didn't know Duran Duran didn't make any sound check. They decided to take part lo live aid in spite of they were divided as a band.
Great band. They made some wonderful music. I remember when MTV first came out in the early 80's, I think the video for "Rio" was the first music video i ever saw.
