I like seeing Walt in front of camera. I enjoy his spirit when he puts the camera down and does some thinking and creating and making his part. Got to be more fun than being the camera guy.
Hollie, and her welding has come a tremendous distance! And they have built themselves one jam up! OVER -KILL, 😊 Of an axle table holder!! 😊😊. Way to go Hollie!! Bravo 👍 Bravo 👍
You probably won't think it's over killed when you get 5 axles on the stand and you're trying to work on the top one! Awesome job & loving the videos. Also GREAT seeing you moving around & working better all the time!
Great job on making the stand. When i was listening to your welding and then looking at them, they were great and the only thing i could say if anything thing is that your wire feed might need to be bumped up to the next level higher. Great to see Figus and Walter.
I really like the design of the axle stand. You say it is overbuilt. Not at all. The axles are not at all light, and the larger wheels will allow you to easilly move the loaded stand over most of whatever may be lying on the floor with little effort. Nice job.
I really wish I had learned how to weld back in shop class in High School instead of just taking 2 semesters of wood shop. I love the cedar chest I made, but welding would be handy. I need to make 4 jack stands to put my boat on so I can get the bottom painted and ready for next year in Lake Michigan. The trailer she sits on has bunks, and I need to get those areas under the bunks painted, too. A local community college offers welding classes in the summer during the evenings. I may have to try to get into that someday.
Just a FYI..... running the drill at a much lower speed will greatly extend the life of your drill bits. Overheating the bit drastically dulls it, plus hardens the hole that you are trying to drill. Adding a cutting fluid like "Tap Magic" can also add many more uses to your bits and saw blades.
Looks like it will last,, I've changed over to steel casters on everything because over time the rubber wheels no matter what kind seem to get flat spots and are hard to roll. I have casters on everything because in a small shop like mine you need to deep clean two or three times per year and the steel casters are still round and flying sparks from welding and cutting don't stick to the wheels.
You can always put a smaller tube inside the vertical tube and make it adjustable with a large pinch bolt that you screw in for your height. Just a thought.
As to the welder, yes it is setup much better than the one you had before. But give yourself some cred, you’ve improved a ton! Just watching you weld I can tell you’re doing better yourself too. Congratulations 🙏❤️😎🤙🛻💨
You are absolutely right. That stand had been a lifesaver already. It’s so nice moving that thing around the shop with 500lbs of axles on it! (And that’s just the bare housings…when they have internals they will probably be 700lbs each 😬)
I was 14 when I built my own engine stand because I couldn't find one that was right for me and great job with the welding and video stay safe from GA and God bless
I tried telling you to get a Porta saw when you were building Nessie, I have no idea why so many people are fixated on reciprocating saw and grinders to cut everything, can the Porta saw cut as many things as the other two will, NO but what it will cut it wont beat up your joints doing it and people would be surprised at the weird ways and things it will cut, I even use mine on sheet metals put the saw to the test you won't regret it. 😊
So inserts for the arms the hook or are just extensions for holding metal stock, cradle on top so you'll always have the extra stand. Maybe there can be an engine block mount off the back that assembles when you want to use it. Good job scaling it down you may still encounter issues with center of gravity, but better lower to the ground for sure 🗿🤖🗿
Good morning Hollie and Walter. Your drawings are explosive😂.I think you will like the bigger wheels on the stand. They will roll over debris that will stop smaller wheels suddenly when you’re trying to move the stand in awkward positions. Ash me how I know.
Any thought on using pallet jack for moving axle stands. You could move many small tables, tool boxes, axle stand with pallet jack and they would be more secure. Also how about building axle stand that you could use to roll under jeep and use lift to lower jeep down to axle. Maybe use same stand to remove transmissions using lift to lower down to transmission. Pallet jack maybe more universal as you don't have all this equipment on wheels everywhere. Just a suggestion great videos.
If'n I was building an Axle Stand, I would likely copy Paul's design. His wheeled table holds the axle and all the parts needed for the rebuild of Differentials, brakes, etc but also acts as a general-purpose work table. I was thinking about that when Hollie was assembling her work tables and welding tables.
Maybe if we find a bigger space. I doubt I’ll ever do enough gear work and, with the limited space I have, my eventual metal surface welding/work table will need to be much smaller than what Paul has - and even then, I’d probably prefer just to place the axle on 2 small jack stands OR fab up some small stands that could be tacked to the table top. The full height stand I have is mobile and can be places out of the way when not in use. I didn’t think we’d run out of space so quickly, but for now everything must be small enough to be stowed neatly away when not in use. I spent a few weeks tripping over things when the garage had Nessie, MM and the RAD charger in it and I can’t stand the thought of doing that again 🤣.
Ok now that you have a fur baby, you need to include him in your videos. He's such a cutie and we will need to see Fergus in all the videos. I know im asking a lot but Fergus is part of your family soooo.....😊
Flip the bolts/nuts on the casters over so the "Bolt" is visible from the top. Much more pleasing to the eyes. Looks great though. Changed shirt 4 times?
Nice job! For mundane items like an axle storage rack though I go to a salvage yard to get less expensive salvaged/reclaimed metal, often by the pound, which results in a substantial savings. My welding cart is made from scrap metal bed frames for example. Grape arbor from scrap chain link fence pipe with worn out lawn mower blades used to make the gussets from. Yeppers, 4 feet is a bit big and will stick out from the wall quite a bit. Consider capping the open cookie cutter ends of the tubing especially those facing upwards in any way. Left open they can make a minor bump into a major event that sometimes a diabetic may take longer to recover from. Plastic/rubber caps/plugs are available or even wooden plugs with nicely rounded edges can be made up will be a bit kinder to you than solid metal caps. Best!
Great minds think alike! Walter did scrape his ankle on the original stand and immediately ordered a bunch of 4x2, 3x1.5 and 1x2 plastic caps for these stands. We have slowly made our way through our leftover metal with the other projects, but For smaller projects like this one, it might be totally possible to find enough scrap to make exactly what we need. I’ll ask Matt and Rudy if there is anywhere local (although I suspect they have been at it so long, they probably rely on their own scrap piles 🤣). One day, I’ll have enough of my own leftovers that I won’t need to get new metal 😀🤞🏻🤞🏻
@@MischiefMakerTV The Hurricane Yellow and Super Pages has a list of scrap metal dealers with Rocky Mountain and perhaps S&S being contenders. Sometimes you just have to ask for the cuts, returns or scraps at the place your already dealing with. Best!
If you want to go waaay overkill you could gusset the inside corners and make room for one more bolt for the casters.....OOOoooooo you can add a cup holder😁😁😁
Good morning in my opinion there is no such thing as overkill when building things like a axel stand it is better to overdue it for extra safety and know that it is secure
That mount is a TrickTools Versa Mount (link below), and it was a gift from a friend. I also really like the TMR Customs Pitbull receiver and mount, but it’s like double the price. www.trick-tools.com/Versa-Mount-Swiveling-Vise-and-Grinder-Plate-16050?gad=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI96edpd-jggMVxhOtBh0zuQRkEAQYAyABEgLNKvD_BwE
1:09 I promise I am NOT being creepy! :) I love the way Hollie says metal .. she would be a great spokesperson for a metal band .. like say Adrenochrome! :)
Love when you guys build stuff, thanks!
I love construction videos! I watch Rory just to see all his on-trail repairs.
I like seeing Walt in front of camera. I enjoy his spirit when he puts the camera down and does some thinking and creating and making his part. Got to be more fun than being the camera guy.

That is a nice-looking axel stand! Better overkill than to light and it breaks the first time you use it!
I like seeing both you and Walter in the videos. You two are a team, so it's nice to see both of you in the videos. 😀
Careful, you may open a side hustle doing axle stands. Good job, you two. And doggo.
You probably won't think it's over killed when you get 5 axles on the stand and you're trying to work on the top one!
Awesome job & loving the videos.
Also GREAT seeing you moving around & working better all the time!
It is so good to see Fergus. Glad he is doing well.
I like Walter's view, over built is way better than under built
So awesome to see you back into the thick of it and great to see Walter for more than a couple seconds of the video. God bless
Love seeing both of you working together. Give Fergie a pet for me. Take care
So glad to see Walter love the video
Fergus looks like such a vicious animal❤🤪, Ready to pounce on any bowl of food near him😂
Great job on making the stand.

Looking awesome Hollie and Walter! Better to be overkill and be safe! You guys have a fantastic day and thank you for sharing

Luv luv luv your accent . Watching from the only Town in Pennsylvania

You'll love the big casters the first time you need to roll that stand on rough concrete or dirt. Then you'll see the wisdom!
You are absolutely right. That stand had been a lifesaver already. It’s so nice moving that thing around the shop with 500lbs of axles on it! (And that’s just the bare housings…when they have internals they will probably be 700lbs each 😬)

Overkill is good when you're considering it's a safety issue❤
Might I suggest safety tiedowns? Great job.

Crude drawing but we understand basically a A frame design is what you are thinking

Holy Moly its Mischief-maker? Wait nope it's the Scottish Hammer. Fergus is going to warm up to the shop as he grows into his roll in your pack. lol

Happy Halloweenie beanie people ❤
Awesome!
You could have used smaller tubing for the bottom half so your stand could be adjustable. But great work on fabricating your own stand.
Glad to see Walter is still alive also. 😂 Now What color are you going to powdercoat your stand?
Good morning in my opinion there is no such thing as overkill when building things like a axel stand it is better to overdue it for extra safety and know that it is secure
it's not over built, it's built to last.
Oops! edit out of order. Look at back ground 5.08
Eagle eyes! 👀 I lost some video and needed to reshoot a few parts. Good catch 😁🤘🏻
HEY! Good morning lovely!
Why are you not using the welding table clamps to hold and square things up?
Is the plad on nessie a body sticker?
3 times. Nice job u 2 I think it will be nice.
If you donot have axles to put on it you can use it for steel stock
three T shirts two hoodie's and the welding jack
Nice job..
I would make a spot for a Are on the very top..
Ps..nice roller Seat..were did you get that?
And whats Your Beer of Choice?
Lol 😂
Walter builds things like I do, over kill. Better safe than sorry later.
I’d of just welded some brackets and straps onto that metal staircase lol
I could store 3 axels off that
Where did you get the stand for your vise?

Ok you wore 3 “T” shirts , a Hoodie, and a welding coat..👍
"Easy"!😀
Gday guys
Could you share the dimensions on the stand . Thank you

Didn't your husband play in the NFL at one tyme. He looks very familiar
Nice welds, and yes it is over built - just right!
Look at the cracks right where she's bolting on those wheels, Those are horrible and there's cracks in the wells
🤞🏽👍🏽🤙🏾🤘🏾👌🏽👏🏽😊😎🙋🏽♂️✌🏽
MUCH LOVE TO YOU TWQ. HUGGS AND KISSES AS WELL. BUT JUST KISSES FOR HOLLIE I'M NOT THAT KIND OF GUY. 😇😘
nothing wrong with overkill
Those are BAD WELDS where you're bolting the wheels on !!!!! , Is huge cracks, Reweld them 😏😏
Measure once, cut twice. Swear, go to store buy more.
