I think of all the big shops with huge lifts and 20 mechanics and a service writer. You probably get more done on a hill in Tennessee .......true.😅 cool beans.
Absolutely!
Awesome work. From a heavy smoker to not smoking at all
Sure did…lol
The MC-9 was once Greyhound’s workhorse of its fleet. Awesome job to the Bus Grease Monkeys for taking on the task of properly fixing this important part of bus history. Congratulations to the owner of it as well. I’m loving this.
THANK YOU! I’m doing my best to get “Wendy1982“ (the MC-9) back in prestine condition.
@@tipsandtrips7519 You’re welcome and I can’t wait to see the finished restoration.
Once took the engine/trans out of an '06 in under 5 hrs...in the driveway...The local Detroit shop quoted us two men for 8 hrs.
Another one saved from the scrapper. Nice work. "The Kid" looks like he's working out well.
Oh yeah. If we don’t save these buses then they become obsolete. “The Kid“ is going very well.
Looking good and coming along very nicely, Scott! “Wendy1982“ is a very happy lady right about now. She’s sounding like an entirely different bus than from when I drove her from California to Alabama. Very nice! This is Ricky.
Got your value out of that sidebyside tire! Almost a Racing Slick. That Jimmy starts on 1/2 a revolution. Amazing.
Never thought of using a shop vac to drain coolant! Great idea, particularly on a marine diesel with a coolant loop to a water heater, which I have
Great video Scott really enjoyed watching you work on this Bus. Thanks for sharing stay safe Scott.
I think the kid did most of the work.
Yes he is learning a lot sean but i was on my back under that bus too and turning wrenches as well.
@@BusGreaseMonkey Great work. I know you do the videos but you should be seen a little more working on them.
Great job Scott
Absolutely!
Well done team.
Sounds awesome!
Love the sound of those engines as well!
Great job boys. Love it.
Bus country tennessee...ain't no place l'd rather be..lol. yeah l stole that line from a song, that bus sound pretty damn good tho.
Great vid, thanx again.
✌️❤️😁
You all do an amazing job. 😊
i totally agree.
Sounds really good !
Good job guys..Lot a hard work
keep the clips coming
Thanks for the video.
Great video
New meaning to “Shade Tree Mechanic” 😂😂. The shade is coming to you.
Saludos desde Ciudad Guatemala
Awesome 😎👍
Wrong transmission is the sort of thing I would do but is a bit of a surprise you did it.
Another 6v92TA and Allison 740 out of another mc9. Just assumed it was the same. One little difference in the shifter setup is the only difference
holly //that a big tree
John that starter had about 20 pounds of grease on it
That limb could have been a widow maker. Makes me wonder why you were working on the bus in the woods instead of in the shop?
It was going to be sitting immobile for many months. Couldn’t have it blocking up a bay.
I want them to Indiana diesel
I wonder if that stripped out tensioner is why the previous engine failed ? Overheated because of belt slip ?
What is the difference between the MC 9 and the MC 12 besides the square head lights? They look so similar. The MC 9 was one of my favorite buses to drive.
Some of the differences:
1. One-Piece cluster rear signal/brake/backup lamps (came on the MC-12).
2. Different steering wheels.
3. Aerodynamic slanted front roof (MC-12).
4. No aluminum rub rails (MC-12).
Just a few. Hope it helps.
@@tipsandtrips7519 THANK YOU.
@@wnewbury4No sweat.
Mechanically the MC-12 is based off the 96-A3; A/C, Suspension. This is why the MC-12 doesn't have the 'MCI lean" that the MC-9 was known for.
Other things off the op of my head not mentioned:
The front of the billboards do not have a bezel on the 12
There is a third brake light above the rear billboard
The indented design above the door is gone from the 12
@@diegoaccord That’s it.
You have "Diesel bug" in that fuel.... perhaps a marine addative would prevent it....
Just a question why do you not clean the engine and engine bay before replacing everything
We pressure washed the crap out of the engine and cradle. It was 100% black before
I have a buddy who used to work for the city of Dallas. He took care of their bus fleet. Never a time did I ever see him not covered in grease and grime after a day's work. Comes wirh the territory he used to say...
Nice work Scott! Did you check/rebuild compressor? I had my engine out last year and rebuilt compressor as you can't get to it with ingine in on MCI5a...
You can easily change these
Easy to miss something when the bus stands for a while

What's up with the shitty video quality?
Reload it.
@theprofessorfate6184 nothing at all you must have a shitty phone or computer
Video is fine in Pennsylvania
I blame RUclips. They've been doing strange things lately. Changed my video resolution from 360 to 144 several times.
Y-T's CDN is throttling the resolution as more folks play videos; if you can't change in it settings, it's a CDN issue for sure.
