When the gate was open and I saw the neighbors downspout pointing directly to the fence I knew what the issue was. Very nice job, once again!

Yes, I noticed that downspout, too. Having that problem with a neighbor who doesn't know when they bought their house, their addition is on my property line and he recently put a new downspout draining down under my wood fence. Now they did the driveway and took part of my land. Can't wait for the surveyors. If you don't jump on it as soon as you see encroachment, title companies can be problematic when trying to sell.

@nakedtommy40 actually it is against the law to deliberately force water to drain onto an adjacent property so the neighbors could have had a much bigger problem. A legal one.

The dirt in all these construction videos I watch always look like such nice dirt. No rocks, and comes up so easy. My dirt has countless rocks and roots and compacted clay. I’d love to experience what it’s like to sink a shovel into the ground and not be stopped 2 inches deep by a massive boulder.

I wish you were a contractor in my City. I have a drainage problem, a neighbor build up their property about 6" higher than mine and all their surface water collects on my property and the wooden fence is leaning to my side. It looks like this could be a solution to my problem. If I could find a contractor like you I would be less anxious in the Spring when the Alberta snow begin to thaw. Thanks for another informative video.

Odell, looks like you got the first gen Master Halco posts. I just set up a horizontal cedar fence with the second gen posts, and my front yard has a curb embedded like yours. I am not a pro, so I set the posts in holes with a partial fill and then came back and put up forms and poured the curb. All told, the curb was roughly 1 yard of white portland in a 4 parts 3/4, 3 parts sand, 1.5 part white portland mix, all mixed by hand in a 4 cuft mixer. It is probably a bit stronger than is needed for the use, but it was cold so the extra portland help us get some strength in it early. Definitely don't have your finishing skills, not sure how you make it look so easy. Thanks for posting all this great content.

My mate did exactly the same as this job and when he had finished the neighbour took his fence down thus gaining about 8 inches down the full length of my mates garden. Some years later my mate built a double garage between his house and the fence but due to the lost 8 inches he could not use standard doors and had to buy specially made ones.

I've been a fan of all your work. I do have a comment though. Master Halco Postmaster fence posts are supposed to be embedded a minimum of 24 inches, and that's in the ground with a concrete footing and 6 inch gravel base below that. I've seen many, many times where mbedding a fence post only in an above ground concrete curb or wall results in the concrete cracking from the lateral stress on the posts from wind blowing on the fence. Might not be as big a deal when you don't have any frost heave in your soil, but I've always used 9 foot posts, 36 inches down in the ground. But where I live we do have frost heave and 50 mph winds... Bottom line is I would have used the longer Postmasters and a picket pounder to drive them deeper in below the concrete into the soil. It would have anchored your curb a little bit too.
