- In video obtained from the court, a suspect is seen leaping over the judge's bench to attack her after a request for probation was denied.
The MAD And out-of-control defendant who leaped over the bench to attack a judge appeared back in court. Deobra Redden appeared in court wearing a spit hood and his hands were in shackles with special coverings. Six court officers stood at the ready if he tried anything. Redden also faced the same judge he attacked when he made that flying tackle over the bench. Judge Mary Kay Holthus sentenced Redden to a minimum of 19 months in prison for attempted battery.

I am conflicted on this. On one hand, I do see an oppressive and corrupt judicial system, and I think of this as a sort of Karma. On the other hand, I understand that some people do belong in prison. My problem is that prosecutors and judges just try to convict and punish. They do not try to rehabilitate people. This is the result that you get. Either way, our judicial system is a failure and nobody wins.

I live in Vegas where this happened…unfortunately, this behavior is extremely common. He literally was pleading his case, telling her how much he’s changed and turned his life around and he’s a different person now…then literally in THE SAME EXACT BREATH, dives over the counter onto A JUDGE. A JUDGE. He definitely bit the hand that fed him and he’s paying for it gravely. These judges don’t play with idiots like this.

a lot of judges do play nice with criminals....this is the reason many of them are outraged when they are sentenced and act out the way they do because they are used to no consequences

The judge then kinda disrespectfully mumbled something about "history" while not even looking at the man. Like his situation was worth nothing more than an incoherent chirp-chirp and a shoulder shrug. This helped set him off on his northbound commuter flight.

That guy was like “I just stepped on a bee, let’s jump on the hive”. It’s important not to let your emotions get the better of you, if he had stopped just for a second, he probably would’ve just gotten the smaller sentence. Reminds me of that guy who was sentenced for a road rage case and he fled the courtroom and took off in his car and caused an accident after colliding with another vehicle. Instead of a 60 day sentence he got 425 days for aggravated felonious assault, as his girlfriend was in the car and was injured in the crash, as well as the occupants in the other vehicle, a couple and their infant child.

He basically took what was going to be a minor sentence and he has now guaranteed himself a very long sentence because of what he did. A good lesson on thinking before you leap (in his case, literally, lol).

Guys like this are precisely the reason I went into criminal law. It keeps things interesting. I’ve had the unfortunate responsibility of physically restraining clients before in open court. I’ve never seen anyone launch off a trampoline like this nutcase though!

The thing is that they have no choice but to put him away for as long as possible. This is an incredibly dangerous person. If he attacked a JUDGE, right in front of everyone like that, what's he gonna do to a waitress who accidentally spills coffee on his lap in a deserted diner? The man has no control over his temper, and a man like that is unpredictable. Not to mention, and I hate to bring this up, but he attacked a woman. So what's he done to other, far more vulnerable, women when there was no one around to see? I know guys like him. I grew up with them. They're so insanely dangerous, not because they're tough, but because they're f**king crazy. You never know what they'll do. It's like having a rabid dog around you. I also can't imagine him having an easy time in prison either. Experienced criminals hate guys like this because they're just dumbass cop magnets. No one wants someone like that around.
And, this is the main reason why I wish that exile were still a thing. Well, it can become a thing again IF the following two things happen: 1. science perfects cryostasis for adult humans; and 2. astronomers discover at least one genuinely living (i.e., human-habitable) exoplanet. That way, we could put creeps like this guy into sleeper ships and send those sleeper ships away to the exoplanets.

I've got a question to a real lawyer if you have the time and the niceness to answer a seemingly simple question.
How do you find a lawyer that isn't on TV or billboards but potentially a very good one? Do you just Google lawyers and the zip code of the city and county where my issue is? I live 6 hours away from the place that is holding my 2nd amendment hostage by not dismissing a already statute of limitations reached case. It's a very very small city and I don't know how to find a lawyer to simply talk to the DA to get me a letter of dismissal or anything like that. Anyway sorry for the long question. You bring up an excellent point that the defense attorney is in a bad spot. The defense attorney is going to be on trial also technically. That poor individual is saying to themselves, why didn’t I just become a Dentist?
I’m guessing a sentence of twenty five years for this man. The point definitely has to be made by the court and it’s Nevada in Sin CIty. Even the sheriff is not afraid to bury people in the desert around here.

She is fine. She was evaluated for injuries but never went to hospital or anything.

Contempt of court can literally carry a sentence of 12 hours. It’s very discretionary.

I was given 6 months for contempt of court due to an outburst. I was being completely stitched up and all anyone and to do was look at my mobile phone - unbeknown to me at the time the police in the UK aren't allowed to look at your phone without a warrant !!! After 2 hours in the court cells , my lawyer managed to plead my case and I was allowed home . The whole thing was thrown out 6 months later. 🏴✌️

In this story, with regard to the initial crime this idiot was being charged with: assault with a baseball bat; what were the injuries to that person whom was assaulted with said bat, and is there a link you might have at your disposal to let us look at that story, if you have it? In the last half of the 1980's, I obtained a temporary Christmas seasonal position, in the fine jewelry dept of a major department store. Over a period of 2 months, I managed to thieve nearly $28k in fine jewelry, watches, precious stones, and a shit ton more. Since then I've always wondered what I would have gone through if I had been caught. I pulled this caper @ a major department store, one who everybody has heard the name of. I wouldn't claim it's the crime of the century, but I have zero doubt, it could have put be behind bars for longer than I'd have cared to be there. As you have done; and long before I happened across your RUclips channel, I'd written my story down. I never planned to turn it into a book, but with the realization my story isn't so common, maybe one day can become a published author like yourself. As a kid who's dad was on the LAPD for 25 years, my story was always one I'd rather not have my old man learn of. Dad's now been retired from the LAPD since the late 90's. Through unfortunate turn of events, now has me not caring so much what he thinks about anything ( or anyone else) , especially if anyone else could find stories such as mine of any value; mainly because I never did prison time for it. Nobody who could have caught me, blinked in my direction. The temp job ended because I simply stopped showing up to the job ; and I surmise the reason for that is abundantly clear. Since those days I've always considered myself an undocumented felon, and that was my lucky shot in life. My life as a criminal only lasted until I got married in my mid 20's, since that time I've considered myself fortunate to have slipped through the systems grasp. I'll be in my 60's before long, and my perspective has changed since those days; and that is the observation that very few actions I could ever make, are so valuable so as to remove MY freedom, and if there's one thought that's kept me in line, it's that. I can thank my cop dad for filling my head with a cop mentality, because any actions I made that could put me away, I tightly strained through that cop mindset mental filter, before engaging in. Suffice it to say, you are one man I'd love to have a conversation with someday. Very few people in my life have ever known I pulled off such a thing, because it's not exactly conversation material at the Christmas family reunion. I'll never forget the 3 shoeboxes filled to overflowing with the merchandise I stole. It could have parlayed into a significantly more lucrative cashflow, but at the end of the day, I was more addicted to how easy it was to steal. I had no real plan to sling it, but I was quite relieved once I'd flipped just about everything I stole at a bargain bazaar set up in a house, just before Christmas. Many people scored deals of a lifetime on full carat diamond earrings, thick gold rope chains that retailed for nearly $3k per, not to mention a small lot of Longines exotic watches, well over $1500 per. Gold and silver rings, earrings, bangles, necklaces, charms, bracelets, all ran the gambit of styles available in the late 1980's. That was the funding for my very first car. Good times, alive now only inside my mind.

Straight to the point: don't mess with the judge. I think everyone here knows the first person you don't wanna mess up with is the one that gets to decide how long you are going to jail. This is just speculation on my part, but given his brazen disrespect for the elderly, if he does get out of the hole and interact with any of the other prisoners, then he's gonna mouth off to the wrong people, and probably get beat by them too. Prison isn't gonna be fun for this guy, and it's gonna be because of his own actions. Larry, first chance to watch you this year. Hope you have a happy new year. I agree the original sentence was fair considering the damage you can do to someone with a baseball bat. I have a question though. Anyone can be provoked to over their limit but this guy didn't even wait to here the sentence. People I know who have been incarcerated said there are a lot of people inside who seem to really lack impulse control. As my one friend said, this is probably how they wound up inside. I'm not saying these people are mentally ill, but I've seen a lot of it on the outside too. This guy seems like a classic example. Did you see a lot of this?

Hey Larry, I mean this question in the most respectful way possible but why do you think people don’t respect authority? I don’t think it has anything to do with what happened on Jan. 6th I think it’s more about authority not respecting our human rights. I’ve seen your videos and hearing about what happened to you in some of these prisons by the guards is appalling. I couldn’t imagine you have very much respect for authority either.

Thank you Larry for this video! I thought the sentence was harsher if you assaulted an official. Obviously not in this case, but some others cases I watched. I agree with your conclusion, since the Capitol I feel that a step has been reached. I can just hope for less violence in the future.
Her assault is a separate matter That's still needs to be go for trial. The charges attempted murder which is pretty serious if he's convicted
This was in the prior case that brought him to court. This is not the conviction for the assault on the judge.

The family indicated that he has some kind of birth defect because his mother used drugs while pregnant. I think an evaluation should be done and perhaps he really is insane. Such kind of behavior certainly is not normal.

While that's true, it's also worth noting that this man was known to abuse his partners while on medication. Mental health is a serious concern, and they deprived him off his meds during the trial period (no longer sound of mind to stand trial properly), but this isn't just a psychosis problem, as much as I'd like to simplify it as one.
This isn't mental health, it's demographic.
He went before a different judge. She even mentioned that she did not know the judge that was attacked beyond knowing her name professional acquaintance
