    It seems much the same as the Grenfell inquiry's conclusions in that they apply to the Tories failure to govern with any sort of efficacy. The inquiry found dishonesty, incompetence and greed to be at the root of the fire and the same applies to the Tories failure.

    • @SJG-nr8uj
      @SJG-nr8uj Месяц назад

      Let's go through your list one by one, shall we?
      1. Austerity. You will recall, if you don't have the memory of a goldfish, that Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling ran up a National Debt of £2 trillion, in the name of 'Quantitative Easing' (ie. the printing of money). The Cameron government then addressed this issue with austerity measures.
      2. Please tell us what you know about EU fiscal union, EU economic union, EU political union, the unification of member states’ armed forces under command of the European Council, the reckless expansionism of the EU across Eastern Europe, and the unfettered migration into the EU from North Africa and the Middle East, at the EU’s open invitation.
      3. Boris Johnson was handed an overall majority and a mandate by the British electorate (in view of (2) above), to "Get Brexit Done" and "Leave with a Deal". You will also recall that, before Covid struck at the end of 2019, Britain had the lowest unemployment since 1975 and more people in work than ever before.
      4. Truss, an unmitigated disaster after Boris was brought down by his own failings.
      5. An extra billion pounds of National Debt was run up by the Tory response to Covid, showering people with money to keep them at home during the pandemic. It is difficult to see what else they could have done. The Swedish policy of "herd immunity", for example, would have been a fatal catastrophe in a small, densely-populated country like ours.

    Labour is at a crossways, and the leadership of Kier Starmer is not going to help the diversity/youth get involved, his Eton-type arrogance over gifts, the way he handled Islamophobic accusations and how he treats female MPs is going to lose Labour support due to transparency that Tories destroyed in British politics. It is time for younger leadership

I'm not accusing him of anything inappropriate, I'm talking about the Labour Party's lack of transparency, how it's been led and why they got sidelined and disillusioned. The accusations of bullying, when you get outvoted over fuel, you're not listening to backbenchers or anyone on the ground regardless of their socioeconomic status.

    Whilst the Conservatives had to go, I am not convinced that Labour really won the election in a convincing manner. This is again rather imbalanced commentary from O'Brien as ever.

    I believe that most people who vote, don't usually change their minds, as that would involve admitting you're wrong. The Tories lost because so many of their supporters had died, and the coming generation saw them for what they are.
