Got an octave pedal recently - the Electro Harmonix Octave Multiplexer.
Have been trying it out with various Cigar Box Guitars.
It's good to take busking so I can add some bass without taking a bass instrument with me.
A few weeks ago I tried it with a Diddley Bow I made in 2011, with lots of distortion (from the Boss OS-2) and LOVED the sound!!
Played it at Hot Numbers open mic in Cambridge the other week. Got some video of it, but as it was so crowded my cameraman/husband had to film from behind the speakers, and it didn't really capture the feeling, so thought I'd do a video of it at home.
The song is called "Is Anybody there?" and a more basic version of it (no beat and pre Octave pedal!) is on the album "Playing (No Rules)" album which is available here bemuzic.bandcam...
For the beat I'm using a home made mic, made with a DM-13 mic capsule (cost about a fiver from Maplins) stuffed into an old Wasabi Peanut tin.
On the pedal board I've got, left to right - Boss RC-20XL Loop Station, Boss GE-7 Equaliser, Boss Overdrive/Distortion OS-2, electro-harmonix octave multiplexer, Boss chromatic tuner TU-3.
At the back is a Morley A B switch and an Eneloop pedal juice which powers it all.

This Lady is very talented and creative. I enjoy all her vids. I also purchased her CD and it's great. Keep rockin' B.
cheers : -)
thanks, the octave pedal plays a note an octave lower, which you can then blend with the original note. Made it sound deeper and bassier. Yes I agree the vocals weren't really loud enough, but they weren't recorded separately so I couldn't alter it..
wow!
thanks Olivier, yeah never enough time to try everything!
WOW!! Love that cool, distorted, crunchy, swamp blues sound of that Diddley Bow, hard to believe you get all that sound, tone and attitude out of ONE string!!! Incredible song Belinda!
This vid made me want to get a loop pedal
cool, go for it!
teacher, I built my diddley bow, well, just missing the lesson 2
you come to the world cup? maybe will take a Brazilian coffee
don't be afraid, brazilian people is funny and good of heart the trouble are the brazilian politician
Da-a-amn !... TOO Frickin Cool Belinda !!!
All them switches n' pedals would kinda' make my head spin. hahaha
cheers : -)
ah right, I was wary of adding distortion to the vocals when the D Bow was also pretty distorted.Thought it might all merge in together...
lol, I didn't mean I was afraid/scared. It's just a phrase we use..
In spite of having zero musical talent, I now want to make one!
Holy crap! Awesome!
cheers :-)
thanks Paulao. Lesson 1 - Build a Diddley Bow! Lesson 2 - Play what you feel : -)

Been building them for years but you really brought the diddley bow into the 21st century!!! Do you play out? How do I get on your email list?...product, merch?(I hate those words, but pedals don't buy themselves, lol!)
Still RIGHTEOUS! More in 2020 please

👏👏👏 that small box near loop pedal.. what is it? Is it box with piezo sensor?
do you mean the thing I thump down to make a beat above the loop pedal? If so it's a tin of wasabi peanuts (empty!) with a piezo in
@@bemuzic 😊 thanks for information.. your music is awesome
🤯🤯🤯 beautiful song. I would love to live near you to take lessons.
Thanks 😊 You don't need lessons to play the Diddley bow, just make/buy one, pick it up and play what you feel!
@@bemuzic oh what a lovely advice. I'll do it. I already have a three strings cbg since a couples of weeks and I love it. The way is taking me to the minimalist, the esencial, a fretless diddle bow and then a loop station they seem to be my next expression elements. Good vibes for you 👍🏼😊
cheers,...no I don't think there is an end when it comes to buying musical gizmo's!!
Nice and beautiful, it show that simple thinks, and few help from electronics, provide nice and funny music.
I play CBG 4 strings then 3 strings so i will go for single string ;)
Cheers

yuk, play Daisy instead.
duh. just read the rest of the post.
Very Kooool!!! May I ask what type of pickup you are using ? I have a piezo and when I use distortion, I get feedback. Thanks
thanks, I'm using a pick up made by Bob Harrison (the one on the bottom right of this page) www.harrisonguitarpickups.com/pickups.html
I've found rod peizos give less feedback than the disc ones. Also a pre amp can help a lot, like this one Shane Speal makes ruclips.net/video/2IP2rmn9SxE/видео.html
or if you don't want to make one, this is good value www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Behringer-ADI21-V-Tone-Acoustic-Preamp/6LW?origin=product-ads&PLA+Shop+-+Behringer&network=google&adgroup=1+-+Product+Level+-+Behringer&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=8564d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=111959022799&gclid=Cj0KEQjwztG8BRCJgseTvZLctr8BEiQAA_kBDxtHxJzLU5WU6Ab1EtgUTt8hVC9nvfdFLHYOQ_W90LwaAo7f8P8HAQ
Hahaha I loved this!!
Hey B,
what is your recommended connection order of pedal or loop ?? I assume the guitar plugs into pedal (distortion etc) first, which connects to looper, which then connects to the amp. Correct ??
Luv ya work by the way !!
Hi Rob, no rules , but yes that's the order I do it, and thanks : -)
thanks : -)
thanks : -)
: -)
cheers
cheers
DO IT!!
Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha, oh hell yes, that sounded great, i hope you post more videos, loved it ! 👍
cheers : -)
How did you make the peanut can stomper? And how is it connected to the looper with the guitar chain? Thanks.
the peanut thing is a DM-13 mic capsule from Maplins. I got a bit of foam and cut it so it fitted tightly into the tin, with a hole in the centre for the mic capsule. It's just wired to a normal 1/4" jack which is fixed to the bottom of the tin. I keep changing my set up, but I think when I did this the peanut thing and my main mic both went into an AB switch which then went into the mic input of the loop pedal. I've mostly stopped using it now and just hit the main main mic to do a thump sound to loop...
love that sound, must hear you live
are you playing at the cambridge cbg festival in september?
thanks Danny, yes I'll be playing at the Cambridge Fest : -)
AWESOME, you are good
Awesome lady.
