Richard Ayoade speaks for introverts and germaphobes everywhere. We've been training for this our whole lives! I am so happy I don't have to hug people any more.
I would comment to express my agreement, but i'd prefer to avoid the interaction. But seriously- I'm as happy as a dog with two tails. It looks like christmas is cancelled too! Sweet, blessed relief!
Yes! I've been saying this for months! Finally close-talkers are receiving the social ostracism they so richly deserve! 1.5m distance is not far enough.
I feel my experience has been quite similar to Richard‘s… Very much business as usual… And on some level part of me is glad that everyone else has had a chance to live the lifestyle of the home bod that I’ve been promoting for years. Not that I myself have benefited from the extra incentive to stay holed up, but I’m glad for everyone else
Same. My work has remained open the whole way through, I've had things like groceries delivered since way before the pandemic (because of chronic illness/disability), and my social life is minimal. Really no change whatsoever for me, except wearing a mask a few hours more a day than I was already.
The comment/gag from Kevin Bridges is so true, it actually happened to me this morning, went to the local shop, was about to head back home, as i forgot to take a mask, reached in me coat pocket, there was one in there, i was so happy, which is crazy really!!!
Even for science it's just a guessing game. Shut down or people will die. Don't shut down or more people die. Those in power are laughing behind closed doors deciding what stupid rules they can come up with next.
I remember my outgoing friend telling me in the beginning of the pandemic: "It's so awful in the supermarket, nobody makes eye contact!" I just thought, so you should make eye contact in the supermarket, didn't realize that. 😅 Also I used to have massive FOMO about life in general, everyone staying home has saved me from thinking what I'm missing out on all the time, like the world slowed down to my speed.
@Lena Wagenfuehr Wow. Way to judge another person's experience of life. How did I contribute to the world going "to hell" that you feel the need to say this 2 years later? Btw I think fomo is closer to social anxiety than jealousy.
I could live with keeping our distance when this is all over. Here in Spain it was customary to greet people with a kiss on each cheek, even if it was the first time meeting them. I always hated that and i will be very very happy if it never comes back.
I hate the phrase 'The New Normal'. Nothing was wrong with the old normal, stop conditioning people in to thinking the quality of life is better because they 'feel' safer. It's rubbish.
You know, I don't think that phrase means what you think it means... Calling something "the new normal" doesn't mean it's better than the old normal, it just means there's a new way of living or experiencing something, often as a result of something happening that forces change which then people adopt because of the circumstances, which then become normalised through repetition and time. So, for example, when smart phones became affordable and accessible in richer nations, owning one (and, to a large extent, becoming shamefully reliant on them) became the new normal for many people. There's pros and cons to this, but nonetheless it is considered "normal" to have a smartphone, whereas 10 years ago it wasn't. With Covid, it is now considered "normal" to wear a mask in public, or at least to see other people wearing masks in public, whereas this time last year, in the UK at least, you rarely saw anyone wearing one other than on Halloween. No implication that that is "better" (although some might argue, and indeed many have, that it is safer) unless you are someone who personally likes wearing masks, but it is an adaptation to our lifestyles based on events beyond our control, namely a particularly unpleasant airborne virus with no known cure. Once we get a cure, we'll be back to the old normal in no time at all. Although that might, by that point, be a newer normal. And then where will we be?
@Roland Roland Here's hoping. The poor old bugger was looking pretty fucked before. I particularly liked the images from the early days of Lockdown 1.0, when sheep invaded welsh villages like a low budget British version of "I, Legend" :)

Introverts relate so hard
No I don't I miss seeing family and I don't like the constant anxiety

People wanna make eye contact in the supermarket? Why? WTF
So the world going to hell makes you feel better? You need to see a therapist about your jealousy

I miss seeing my family but I guess it's different for everyone.
Is it just long since I saw Kevin Bridges or has he gotten in shape?
He lost weight

I relate to Richard so much. We Indians are still in lockdown and honestly, I don't mind 😂
I SO agreed with Ayoade
As a non UK resident, where they off air for this long or did they just not upload to this channel?
this is from last Friday's episode
And they take breaks intermittently… This is effectively a new season
This was the first episode in 4ish months x
