Much as I love this show, it does reinforce really ugly attitudes toward men who aren't tall - even men who are just average height. It's odd that we still do that given the significant impact those attitudes have on everything from educational attainment to lifetime earnings and career advancement.
Most male actors have been below average height for a significant portion of human history, being short, thin, and having a slightly larger head works very well on camera. Same goes for many sports, short = agile - it's only over the past 70ish years that larger players have become more popular. Footballers, jockeys, racquet sports, etc have all had a higher number of shorter men dominating the scenes for a long time. I understand the concept, we've moved away from body shaming at a pretty good pace over the past 10 years but it's still 'okay' to joke about short men, right? It's not fair but that's life, if you're below average height it's not the death sentence you might've made it out to be in your mind. It's easy to get downtrodden about things like that at a glance but if you take the time to consider the validity of those studies you'll see it's mostly fearmongering. If you have any shorter men in your social group ask them instead, see how they feel in their day-to-day life, don't just stew and become resentful over something that can't be changed. Life can be good or bad regardless of your height, if you automatically resign yourself to nihilism because you aren't the average height in your country then it's a you-problem more than anything else.
