Thank you! You saved me $150 (for 2 keys)! Many don't know that the FOB and the Chip (of the chip key - RFID) use separate programming, both of which can be done with the vehicle, saving a ton of dealer/locksmith dollars! I first programmed the FOBs to remotely unlock/lock/start/panic the vehicle. Then, I followed your instructions to program the chip of each chip key. It took one cycle through with 2 factory keys followed by one after-market key. Then, I opened, closed, locked the doors, and repeated that procedure (2 factory keys per your directions then the other after-market key). Worked perfectly. I now have 4 keys to my truck. Again, thanks a million. Great video!

I had one key because my wife lost the other. From that I cut and programmed two new keys. I do remember watching several videos and maybe from that search I found a few other videos about it. Sorry, hope this helps. I know the dealer wanted $250 a key and there are locksmiths that will charge the same. It was so easy after they were programmed.
To identify the difference between the 40 and 80 bit transponder keys, the STRATTEC 80 bit key blanks will have the letters “SA” stamped on the blade and the 40 bit key blanks have the letter “S” stamped on the blade.
Apparently the fob needs to be programmed separately. Turn the key on/off 7 times and on again an 8th time. Locks should cycle. Press any button on NEW (I programmed remote) and locks should cycle. Remove key from ignition and locks should cycle again. Press buttons on NEW remote and they should all work.

I bought a second hand 2009 Focus facelifted 1.8gas duratec HE 6 months ago,the car still runs fine upto now. 2 weeks ago the CEL light came on(still on but not blinking ,& car still runs fine), noticed the negative battery terminal broken had it replaced, BUT still with CEL light on,. Instrument cluster test mode(dash sweeping) shows DTCs: A895-trip comp module,9681-PATS,9318-batt volt low,. tried disconnecting battery and fuses to remove CEL then now with additional codes:D900- CAN interupted,A103 antennae not plugged,.. went to a garage for obd2 scan and he was able to remove the CEL light and codes:P0400,P2008,P1260,P1549, but he was not able to remove the codes from my cluster(dash sweeping), next day CEL light went back on, I was able to use the car with CEL light on for two more days,then it wont start anymore,battery shop told me that my battery have a dead cell had it replaced with new battery,car now starts and drives fine but still with CEL light on, tried your method now with additional codes: E510 (or U2510) Missing or invalid security data to Powertrain Control Module, E197-invalid data speed and E200-invalid data odometer(currently 8 cluster codes).The car still runs fine. 1.Help please, how can i remove the CEL light and 8cluster codes by myself? Gregg,,, That's what i did, bought 1 off amazon .I also had only the 1 key, programmed as directed. Trouble is it didn't start engine,only locks and unlocks car. So i still had to pay to get reset. It still worked out cheaper though. saved about £40. That's English...

Melissa a couple days ago I bought a 2008 Focus that came with one original key with a chip. My wife went to Walmart today and the key guy took an aftermarket equivalent of the Ford key, cut it, somehow programmed it without doing anything with the vehicle (the car was home). And it works. It was $64.99. Now the other key that he also cut (without a chip) only opens the doors and turns in the ignition but won't start the car. That one was $1.99
I liked everything you said except the part about the possibility to ruin a good key. I have a Mercury Sable 2008 and just paid a dealer $60 to program a cheap ebay replacement key. I'd like to make a 3rd key using your method. I sure hope I don't kill one of the good keys.
Thank you it did exactly what you said it would. Everything else said to turn to on then back off with in 1 second and the second working key on then back off and put the on that needs programed in turn it on and back off and leave in for 10 minutes lol
sorry about the off topic questions. .this one is about the 6.7 powerstroke egr. Any products in Canada that you can recommend for cleaning egr cooler. Oil additive and fuel additive primarily. Or is the Italian tune up the only way. thanks.

Worked great on my 2013 f150, but the 4th key I programmed the fob on it will remote start the truck but will not turn off the truck with fob like the previous keys do, normally I can remote start but if I decide to shut truck off I can hit the start but once and it will shut off, any suggestions? I have to working keys of which I put in the first one then the second one,then I put in the key to be programmed, I try each to see if they would work, the only key that did not start the engine was the second working key, so I had to re-program that key with the first key and the third key that I had to program, now each key starts the engine. So programming the new key took the program off of the second working key

Had problem today. Customer only has one key and my Autel / Autek cannot add a 2nd key citing need 2 working keys. I can clone the chip but I ran out of a Ford shell to insert a super chip. Is there a way to work around 2 key limitation? Or I guess you have to do it as AKL situation in which I don't want to do.
I have a 1997 Expedition and the original two keys. I bought two new transponder keys and had them cut for the original ignition cylinder code so they would also open the doors. Using the two originals first, I was able to get the PATS system to recognize one new key but I am having no luck trying to add a fourth key. Is that not possible with the A version of PATS that was in the 1997's?
This programs the key and RKE functions on RKE integrated keys just leave the new key in the ignition for 6-10 seconds after the last turn to run so it can transfer RKE data.

I went to a lock smith and they wanted 180 dollars for the key plus 85 to program plus something else. I was totally zoned out by then. Ordered two keys and programmed them myself. All they needed was a gun to make it a real stick up.

+Mark Kennedy Yes the only way to program additional keys yourself is if you have 2 already it Fords way of making sure you are the rightful owner of the vehicle.
+Mark Kennedy If you only have 1 key, you need to program it with either Ford IDS (expensive) or FORScan on Windows (free, but does not support all Ford vehicles through all years). I myself have a '05 Ford Expedition, I've used both FORScan with a bluetooth OBD dongle and Ford VCM with IDS. If your vehicle is not listed as supported for key programming in FORScan forums, your best bet is probably the dealer or a locksmith with the correct programming tool.
I have a question. I have a 05 f150 and I changed my passenger wheel bearing and now when I put it in 4 low it will engage but the passenger side doesn't and I can hear it grind. Do you know what I could do?
+Jeremy Goodwin jack up the passenger side and spin the wheel vehicle off it should be locked into the axle. Mine locks in I turned it and at first it made that sound(before tighting it all the way) then it locked in and the CV axle was moving so I tightin it all the way and everything moves and sounds like its supposed to. Just not when I put it in 4WL

Guy on 2007 expedition did the 8 turn process. Guy had it done in 1-2 minutes top with 1 key!!! Will try every way possible.

You'll have to have the dealer program it for you, as you need two "master" keys to program additional keys.

My question is can I use the one original and one copy to program another. In the video you said 2 working keys which I have just one is not original. Thank for the info.
Great video! Worked great on my 2013 f150, but the 4th key I programmed the fob on it will remote start the truck but will not turn off the truck with fob like the previous keys do, normally I can remote start but if I decide to shut truck off I can hit the start but once and it will shut off, any suggestions?

I have to working keys of which I put in the first one then the second one,then I put in the key to be programmed, I try each to see if they would work, the only key that did not start the engine was the second working key, so I had to re-program that key with the first key and the third key that I had to program, now each key starts the engine. So programming the new key took the program off of the second working key

I 've just lost one of my 2 keys. I then had a locksmith to make a copy one with his programmer (and my second original key). Now I would like to have a spare one more, do you think your procedure will work well with my 2 functionning keys (one original+ one copied)? Thanks a lot.
No. that is a Cloned or copied key and you must have the two originals

You can go to a locksmith or get a program called forscan and a scanner.

Stupid that you need two programmed keys that’s the point of buying a new key you lost one.
Had problem today. Customer only has one key and my Autel / Autek cannot add a 2nd key citing need 2 working keys. I can clone the chip but I ran out of a Ford shell to insert a super chip. Is there a way to work around 2 key limitation? Or I guess you have to do it as AKL situation in which I don't want to do.

I have a 1997 Expedition and the original two keys. I bought two new transponder keys and had them cut for the original ignition cylinder code so they would also open the doors. Using the two originals first, I was able to get the PATS system to recognize one new key but I am having no luck trying to add a fourth key. Is that not possible with the A version of PATS that was in the 1997's?
does this also program the lock and unlock buttons on the fob or is there another procedure to program that?
This programs the key and RKE functions on RKE integrated keys just leave the new key in the ignition for 6-10 seconds after the last turn to run so it can transfer RKE data.
got the expedition to turn on bit my rke still don't want to transfer to new key. on your video you didn't try, why cause you knew it wouldn't work. bummer thanks any way but still going to have to have someone look at it.

Nope, you need to turn to the on position 8 times and make sure on the 8th time you leave it in the on position to program that remote.

I went to a lock smith and they wanted 180 dollars for the key plus 85 to program plus something else. I was totally zoned out by then.

+Mark Kennedy Yes the only way to program additional keys yourself is if you have 2 already it Fords way of making sure you are the rightful owner of the vehicle.
+Mark Kennedy If you only have 1 key, you need to program it with either Ford IDS (expensive) or FORScan on Windows (free, but does not support all Ford vehicles through all years). I myself have a '05 Ford Expedition, I've used both FORScan with a bluetooth OBD dongle and Ford VCM with IDS. If your vehicle is not listed as supported for key programming in FORScan forums, your best bet is probably the dealer or a locksmith with the correct programming tool.

I have a question. I have a 05 f150 and I changed my passenger wheel bearing and now when I put it in 4 low it will engage but the passenger side doesn't and I can hear it grind. Do you know what I could do?
+Jeremy Goodwin jack up the passenger side and spin the wheel vehicle off it should be locked into the axle. Mine locks in I turned it and at first it made that sound(before tighting it all the way) then it locked in and the CV axle was moving so I tightin it all the way and everything moves and sounds like its supposed to. Just not when I put it in 4WL

in my 02 fx4 f150 my dome lights & windows have stopped working. I checked the fuse box inside & the 3rd fuse on the 2nd row was blown & blows everytime I try to replace it! Any suggestions?

One key won't work. It's usually cheaper to go to a hardware store that has a Ford key programmer.
