It just depends on how much you want to spend on lenses. It's definitely a lot cheaper going with the a6400/6600 cause Sigma make some really amazing E mount lenses (especially the 16mm f1.4 which is my go-to) and native Sony prime E mount lenses with OSS are very inexpensive too. Also, I feel for running-and-gunning, the a6400/6600 is the more inviting for me cause of the size and weight factor. Honestly, though, you can't go wrong either way. This is coming from someone that owns an a6100, a6400, and A7RII.
@@thefowlyetti2 For astrophotography, I haven't seen a big difference comparing my a6400 w/Sigma 16mm f1.4 and my A7RII w/Sony 24mm f1.4 since the only adjustment I have to make is a slight adjustment to my shutter speed. Hi! I'm looking forward to buying my first camera for both photos and videos. I like the A6600, but I somehow don't like missing out on 4K 60. How important is 4K 60 in your opinion? I'm also missing the USB type C port. I mean it's 2020. Do you think the A6600 is the right option as a first real camera?
If you're a vlogger / RUclipsr go with a6600 if you record video in studio / shooting of others, go with a7 iii - The a6600 is easier to carry, has a flip screen so you can see yourself. The a7 iii is big, heavier and harder to handle and does not have flip screen!
3:30 you talked about SLog. Could you please elaborate that banding thing in comparison with other brand? Sony is the camera of my prospect particularly the A7R3. Also, just in case you have a weebill s, could you please assess if the A6600 would work well in that gimbal used with 24-70mm lens. Thanks a lot.
Sony mirrorless cams are only 8 bit, except the new a7s3. 8 bit video contains too little information to use S-log properly. Log profiles flatten everything from contrast to saturation (not a scientific explanation, but that's how it kinda works). That allows the camera to capture more shadows and highlights, and you just restore it back in editing. However, 8 bit video only has 255 colours per rgb channel. When you flatten it so harshly, a lot of information is lost forever, and when you try to restore in post by adding contrast/saturation and grading, there's magenta/pink artifacts cos there's no data to fill in. Conversely, 10bit has 1024 colours per channel. 8 bit captures 16.7million colours. 10bit captures 1.07 billion. That's more than 60x the colour information. Only 8 bit codecs (like in the Canon cinema cams) that has been engineered for log should be used with log. You are better off using Cine or HLG with 8 bit. If you want to shoot log, 10 bit and above is a must.
Great video, thank you. Did you say that if you connect an Atomos Ninja 5 to the A73 that this will overcome the 30-minute record time limit and enable you to record continuously for much longer? Do you happen to have a video on this? I'm new to also this. Thank you.

Hey ,great Vid! I'm in the process of buying a Sony A7SIII and am wondering if I should get a 6600 (16-55/2,8) or an A7III(16-55/2,8) as a side cam. I use it mainly for 4K video and also often shoot events in the evening or people directly in front of the camera where I also want to have the surroundings on it. I also do not want any difficulties to put both recordings together. What would you (guys) recommend to me?
You can’t use a cropped lens on the A7III that gives the advantage to the A6600 straight away. Yes Sony e mount glass it interchangeable but an APSC lens will always work better on an APSC camera. I would have used a third party like Sigma and had a prime lens on both to test it out. Despite that you can still see the A7III has the sharper image, the trees in the background looked much better. The A7III is much cheaper now as well and Sony will have the new A7sIII/IV coming out soon best to wait I think

I've tried them out and even one inch sensors, and honestly as long as my image quality remains with good color, sharp and contrasty im fine with some grain.
In regards to video features alone. I think the A6600 has an upper hand with having eye AF in video. Which the A7III does not have nor will have. And sensor size/low light is subjective. For some reason I feel like I’d want the full sensor. But having eye AF in video is a priority to me as well. Tough choice! And I have the A6400 already and I’m very satisfied. Trying to decide on a A/B-cam setup.
Hello , which one is better for videography b roll technique
A6600 and A7iii can both give you ISO 50, I love that setting for Ships, Trains and Trucks. The results of ISO 50 are great on both the A6600 and A7iii.
so here is my dilema , i like night time photography , / astro , branching out to do stock photography and stock video ....... the a6400 , a6600 and a used a73 / a7r3 are very close price wise ..... which way do i go ?
It just depends on how much you want to spend on lenses. It's definitely a lot cheaper going with the a6400/6600 cause Sigma make some really amazing E mount lenses (especially the 16mm f1.4 which is my go-to) and native Sony prime E mount lenses with OSS are very inexpensive too. Also, I feel for running-and-gunning, the a6400/6600 is the more inviting for me cause of the size and weight factor. Honestly, though, you can't go wrong either way. This is coming from someone that owns an a6100, a6400, and A7RII.
at night, the a7iii is obviously the better choice, your getting a lot more light in, less noise.
@@thefowlyetti2 For astrophotography, I haven't seen a big difference comparing my a6400 w/Sigma 16mm f1.4 and my A7RII w/Sony 24mm f1.4 since the only adjustment I have to make is a slight adjustment to my shutter speed. Likewise, I haven't seen a big difference when shooting concerts either. Just my experience though
@@raymondallen7924 and apc-s lenses, especially sigma, rokinson, are way cheaper than full frame lenses and usually apc are way lighter in weight
I was wondering this too
@@sorrycanttalk me too.
If you're a vlogger / RUclipsr go with a6600 if you record video in studio / shooting of others, go with a7 iii - The a6600 is easier to carry, has a flip screen so you can see yourself. The a7 iii is big, heavier and harder to handle and does not have flip screen!
The Sigma trio of lenses and the Z battery make this camera.
exactly!
Yup! I have this camera with the Sigma trio and the Sony 85 1.8
which is this Sigma trio you are talking about?
Marco Bisegna the Sigma 16mm, 30mm & 56mm F1.4 lenses.
@@JulezDeJesus but the focal length still remains a 16mm or 30mm or 56mm? There isn't a crop factor or an increase in focal length, right?
nikon z50 vs a6600 video comparison please
Thats Fridays video 👍
Hey! Loved it! May get the a6600 but can u confirm is the a6600 weather sealed
Its is weather sealed, just like the a6400
Thanks. But it would be great if you put a link to download video files of tests.
Which camera did you use to record this video on studio?
How do you compare the Sony a6600 to the Canon m6 mark II (any video on this?)
Nikon guy here with a used a6300 and 20mm pancake lens. The a6600 larger grip and high capacity battery makes it the winner.
very informative in the video test a6600 looking sharp, skin tone on a7iii looks a bit yellowish. however i am still leaning towards a7iii
Can you help me decide which camera will help me with doing commercial videos as freelancer? Please help me to decide quick
do we need a adapter to use signa lenses on sony a7iii
No. Sigma lenses have built E-mount lenses for Sony
Aditya Varshneya ^^^Im currently using the sigma 35mm 1.4 E mount on the A7iii. No extra adapter needed
Dad: you can see every thumbnail on this channel are taken with a7iii
Me : But , a7iii is in the thumbnail 🙄
because only one a7iii exists in the entire world, right?
Great video, thank you. Did you say that if you connect an Atomos Ninja 5 to the A73 that this will overcome the 30-minute record time limit and enable you to record continuously for much longer? Do you happen to have a video on this? I'm new to also this. Thank you.
Hi dude please answer my question what should buy
A6600 with Sony 10-18 and Sony 35mm
Or
A6400 with Sigma 16mm and 30mm
highly recommend a6600 for inbody stabilizer
Anyone can tell me if the 6600 can shot video in portrait mode without flip it in post? Thank you
Thanks so much for this super useful video. I'm going to get the a6600 for static vlogging in a small room and REALLY want the blurry depth background.
I'm doing my head in trying to work out what lens to get (I'm a complete camera noob). Any suggestions on compatible lens that will give me blurry background would be sooo welcomed!
I’d love to know this answer too. This was a year ago. Did you figure it out?
Hey ,great Vid!
I'm in the process of buying a Sony A7SIII and am wondering if I should get a 6600 (16-55/2,8) or an A7III(16-55/2,8) as a side cam.
I use it mainly for 4K video and also often shoot events in the evening or people directly in front of the camera
where I also want to have the surroundings on it.
The A7III is much cheaper now as well and Sony will have the new A7sIII/IV coming out soon best to wait I think
yall were having the a6600 vs a7 iii argument 3 years ago I'm having it. Which would you choose rn? cuz i can save like 300/400 bucks(in my country) by going with the a6600 and then not have to worry about the rest of my budget cuz it will easily cover 3 apsc primes while with the a7 iii I'd have to go with a manual focus wide angle or something and still barely have money for tripods and the rest of the things i need(im shooting a movie)
I saw other videos that say you can use full frame or APSC lenses on either.
What is best for photography ( car photography )
Please Help!!! I want to record video of me drawing from an overhead shot. Problem is I have absolutely no clue what to get? Camcorder or DSLR? Then what one is best for what I’m doing and in my price range. Sadly it’s only in the $300-$400 range. Please help me narrow down my choices.
AndretheDias Thank you so much! I found the Cannon t3 is more in my price range. I can’t tell you the stress level that you just lifted for me!
@@robertbakerii5469, T3 is an old hardware for extremely low price. Buy T3i instead. The video quality since T3i is practically same. Though, for better auto focus, I would recommend later models. Say T5i or later ones.
Will my old lenses from my a6600 still work on the a7C and will it still have an advantage to have full frame if my lenses aren't?
Lots of good info! I've been flipping back and forth about upgrading to an eos r or a sony. I'm really wanting to move from a g85 to a gh5 but I do some recording at conventions with a gimbal and need a good auto focus.
I'm in a similar position. Ready to get rid of my G85, the autofocus is dreadful. I look at the A6600 and the quality is insane, but the IBIS seems to be really awful for walking and talking!!
10:08 the A6600 looks sharper
I have been trying both of these cameras & am having trouble deciding. Which of these would you recommend if you were going to use it for travel photos? I predominately shoot stills; landscapes, cityscapes, people, wildlife. I occasionally shoot video. I do not currently do any Vlogging. I want something that would work in the widest variety of light situations. I’d like to also be able to travel with one lens that would work for photos at a variety of distances.
A6600 with 16-55
I think I heard Everyday Dad say the a6400 doesn't not have eye focus, which it does. Checked on BH website and Sony's website.
real question: what did you record this with
Gopro hero 4
@@saikatchoudhury1980 are u sure?
which lenses did he use in this video . more so at the @ 9.12 mark ? thanks!
For the vlog setup, the a6600 was definitely the more pleasant feed. Seems sharper to me.
Everyday dad: "Sony A6600".
Me: Brings out kerosene.
Everyday dad: "Please don't set this channel on 🔥".
Me: Stows the kerosene away for another day.
Is that a Members Only jacket? Didn't think they would ever make back.
What lens were you using around 4:29? Was it the kit lens still?
Does the A6600 take stills as good as the a7iii?
John the a7iii will definitely take better stills, that’s fact. However what’s subjective is how much better? 1% better? 30% better? Subjective for sure.
What bothers me, is that the buffer of the a6600 empty too slow. thus, I can potentially miss a lot of great shots while waiting for the buffer.
lol you think that matters. If waiting an extra couple of seconds matter then you got issues.
What are you using to shoot your RUclips video camera + lens?
Thank you for making this video. 👍
Thanks so much!
Im using the A7iii for a year now and its amazing, I love it (photography and video) I'm looking forward to get two 6600 as camera B and C, any thoughts on this?

@@nishantsingh1438 Dont get me wrong, I had to get a loan for my first camera (70D) and just after many years I got the Sony. Now I'm teaming up with my friends to get more equipment. The 6600 is amazing! Keep the hard work and be safe.
Are you satisfied with your 7iii for videography? And which lens are you using? Thanks
You can save a lot of money on lenses by getting another E mount FF.
If there was no time limit on the A7III it would be a whole grade better.
IBIS in 6600 is better than A7III ?
Any difference in the rolling shutter between the two? Is it noticable in a "normal" speed pan?
It’s not great on both, I’d say the two are pretty similar.
You always have awesome videos! Way to go! And also you don’t MacBook or iPad sitting next you, which almost every single RUclipsr does, it just looks funny, it’s only for looks :)))
I do actually have an iPad sitting next to me controlling the GH5 🤣
I know that you have it to control GH5, other RUclipsrs have it sitting for everyone to see, without even once looking in to it 🤣
great video. Super clear and helped me make my decision
Notification squad! It’s been forever since I’ve been able to say that!
And its been forever since I've been able to say thanks for that!
I am concerned that to get into pro photography, I do need full frame. I’ve developed a lot within 3 months with an A6400 and want to get into street/car/event/promotional photography for my school. Any thoughts?
I’m not a pro photographer so I can’t really say unfortunately. But I’ve known people to do well with any camera 👍
The Everyday Dad Geez you’re fast.
better glass and better technique weight more than full frame body...
That 6600 is CRISPY 🔥🔥✨
Focus is kinda off or not as crips as when you were vlogging with the Sony cameras. Much more crisp with either of the Sony cameras. I still like my M50, but what would I choose if I someone else was picking up the bill? Not totally sure, probably the EOS R to stay with Canon color and work the dual camera with M50.
Hi . Do you know if the Sony a6400 supports eye auyofocus with external monitor as the a6600 ?
There is no eye auto focus in the video mode of the A6400, wich A6600 does.
I'm picking up the a6600, what lens would you guys recommend for videos in low light?
