I never cared about weather so much untill I became a paraglider, now I look at the clouds with skepticism and content.

Absolutely agree) And the worst thing as for me is the total mismatch of google maps view and real place sometimes. Its worth nothing to see an new village built month ago instead of grass hill as it seen on maps)))
Ain't that the truth ;-). Especially the 'Ground-handling' advice...could save your life. Good 'kiters' tend to make good pilots ;-)

Awesome video Aljaz I feel it. 😁 When it came to breathtaking landscapes, I had to think of our compulsion to always visit boring airfields that looked the same. And 10 km further would be a wonderful empty meadow with a small river, an old crypt and a small wood next door. But you have to start on the leveled wasteland. 😔

I had to stay to the end for If it's flyable, knowing well that frustration from flying (and not flying) back in the 1990s. Brilliant content to engage those who think you jump out of perfectly servicable aircraft!

Hahah. that's awesome. From one global hanggliding, paragliding, speedwing flying, skydiving, airplane flying, PPG flying, ultralight flying pilot to another....Cheers mate! Been there...SAME thing happens to me and I'm glad you showed this. All the hard work for the amazing shots and vids are worth...we tell ourselves that over and over WHILE cliimbing, hiking, camping and getting rained on and stuff in traffic and the $$ too. LOL. Great job! It's worth it!

Breathtaking landscapes, but you're mostly focused on your lines, takeoff, finding thermals, avoiding clouds & rains & collision, possible exit strategies, wind direction, collapses, lift and sink, rotors, possible landing site and more
Nice vídeo man. That's is why we love paragliding. Cause we love to fly. And yes. Shit happens. I had an accident a month ago and I lost my wing. But I will fly again in a while. I think the most important thing is try to fly always with other paragliders.

Love the video. I'm a skydiver but I'm thinking of trying paragliding. Being up in the sky for a longer lengths of time seems more appealing.

I laughed as soon as I saw the title! Paragliding has it's ups and downs, both are great experiences, but you haven't experienced a thunder storm until you have on top of a mountain!

Without even watching this video, as a former hang glider pilot, I can guess the 2 main bitches: weather.., and finding friends willing to follow you once you start going cross country. IF you're not going XC, it get's boring pretty quick. Landing off airport, with a big tired bush plane, is what I do now, the best thing being I don't have to round up a crew every time i want to fly.

if you live anywhere near an ocean i think ridge soaring is the most fun to be had. down near the ground just skimming along and surfing the lift

That’s good question.. I never really focused on time but when I started with paragliding and making my own wings.. I probably spent few hours per day every day (unless it was raining) Now over the years I still try to play around as much as possible. I find it super fun to ground handle on little slopes. So if conditions are good I can spend several hours messing around with the wing and wind :))

how do you film yourself, I initially thought you were being followed by another paraglider; are you towing a camera with some form of wing on it to self film ?
I was expecting a 30 second clip of someone blissfully gliding at Golden hour slow fade to black followed by gut wrenching screams of "my legs my legs oh my God my legs"

Hi. Isn't it dangerous to fly over or inside the clouds?
I never flown those wings, but I assume it is scary not EXACTLY to know what is below the cloudlayer. trees? power lines? maybe a plane? But I never flown them so no experience here :)
Hey 👋 Yes it can be very dangerous to fly above or inside clouds.. actually even illegal. It’s only good when you can see around or through clouds and you know area very well (also it must be legal)... like you said lots of things can go wrong, terrain, power lines, planes... you wanna avoid that at all costs.
However it is possible to do it safely (fly around the clouds) if you consider all the things mentioned above ☀️ I have Q&A video about clouds on this channel, check it out :))
