Maybe bands like Skillet or Thousand Foot Krucht are very popular now but Creed did first and they don't have the recognition they deserved as one of the pioners of the genre.

So sad to hear that he fell down the Oxy hole, hope he's done some recovery at this point. Thanks for your video, cheers!
Scott is doing good now with an active solo career. Has been sober for years and living with his wife and kids. Glad to see him on his feet after the tragedy he had been through.
Now I'm pissed, I didn't know Creeds history. Christianity is not about being good or bad. It's about a relationship with your heavenly father. I think it's a compliment when God puts you through these things because He wants a deeper relationship with you and this may be the only way you seek Him. God doesn't care about the drugs but only getting you deliverance from it. He does absolutely hate a spirit of pride.
I would argue that this is a Christian band. A very talented Christian band. You said it yourself, being Christian doesn't mean they need to be infallible. There is a lot of christian folk music from the perspective of the sinner. I used to be a Christian, and even then I saw the message in Creed's lyrics as positive to Christianity. The music doesn't have to be preachy, to be Christian. I consider Ozzy's Black Sabbath to have a Christian tinge to it. Sure, they talk about evil deeds, people and things, but early Sabbath was very much pro Christian. All of those songs, aside from things like Fairies Wear Boots and Sweet Leaf, which don't touch on the rest of Sabbath's subject matter, are warnings that god wins in the end, and to beware of the wrong path. Even Dio's Heaven and Hell seems to be a pro Christian warning against the deception of lucifer. Which stands out against all of his larpy D&D music (which I still enjoy, specifically because of the campy feel). The point is, that Creed and Sabbath are Christian because the songs plead for listeners to turn to god, and warn them against sin. This is an endearing quality to me. Even as a pagan, I appreciate an appoach to music that is unapologetically Christian, yet isn't superficial "praise be" garbage. I look for the same quality in my pagan music. I don't want larpy garbage about how Odinn is great, I want real perspective from the eyes of someone trying to honor the gods. The exception to this is when tales from the Eddas are put into song. This generally works better for pagans than Christians, simply because most of this music is either Death Metal, or Norse Folk.
I think creed story is something many people today can relate addiction will rip apart anyone and some might even say it is a demonic attachment on your soul a monkey on your back if you will I think the music tells the story of someone who is struggling with how they fit in to the world and after.

Ghost is what I like to call pop style metal. If you can dance & sing along, it’s pop in my opinion. Maynard from Tool comes from Ohio & I think his biggest gripe with his Baptist religion was how shitty church members treated his mom. He was never trying to come across Satanic like Mayhem or even Ghost…both of which are Scandinavian and ppl up there aren’t as triggered by sac religious behavior as Americans. Growing up, I was raised into a super religious baptist family and became a fan of Tool and Creed around the same time. At that age, Creed was way more relatable. Tool became more relatable in my 20’s. Nowadays, I find it interesting that the kids really like to wave around Satanism. I think Motley Crue was the only Americans brave enough to act « satanic » when I was a kid.
Even as of this video release, saying Creed is still a punchline is mostly false....... Most of the old haters grew up and are recognizing, while some stuff is cheesy and generic, that they have allot of good material
Well, you know what they say about opinions. Creed didn't write songs about breaking up and getting back together and breaking up again. Stapp had solid lyrics with fantastic original melodies that to this day, only Tremonti can bring. Most music nowadays is un-original and sounds repetitive. This is of course, my opinion.
Everyone doesn’t hate creed. Just the ones that feel they need to say they suck or someone with make fun of them. Might call them a name or something. It’s truly pathetic. Basically following a cliché hate band wagon trend. I’ve been a fan since 97, still have all the albums and jam to them all the time. If they didn’t get overplayed with the rock ballads so much, you wouldn’t see one creed sucks comment or meme. Cuz their so many other songs on all the albums, that are simply not heard to even know if you don’t like them or not. Songs like say I, Pity for a dime, Beautiful, torn, wash away those years, wrong way, ODE, in America ect. Songs with killer riffs and powerful gritty vocals. Deep and original lyric content. It’s same as nickelback. Nobody knows their material besides the rock pop ballads that get overplayed. Still have great rock, metal, grunge albums a lot of ppl have no clue exists, cuz they never cared to research them is why. With arms wide open isn’t creed, it’s one ballad they wrote lol. Just like photograph isn’t nickelback. They both got a lot of awesome material nobody cares to go listen too
Really confused how anyone can hate a band because of their religion. We wouldn’t do that to a Jewish, Muslim or Hindu band. Additionally, as a Deist, I am not offended or even think about the bands religious aspects. And those who do really need to look within themselves and maybe address their own issues before throwing stones at others.
I'm an atheist and honestly Creed and Stapp's lyrics were part of that process. Stapp's lyrics are full of religious trauma he suffered at the hands of his stepfather's abuse. It's also clear that the rest of band (tremonti, phillips, marshall) are not out to make christian music as their other band Alter Bridge features Myles Kennedy who is an agnostic atheist and has written basically 2 albums about losing his faith completely and multiple other songs criticizing religious leaders ("the other side", "island of fools", "sin after sin", "indoctrination" etc). No way guys in a christian band would partake in performing those songs . Guys in a christian rock band would be making praise songs not hanging with a guy writing lyrics condemning religion.
I myself unfortunately listened to friends who said that Creed was a Christian band. So I listened to the lyrics with that mindset believing these were Christian favoring messages. Listen to Faceless Man, and you'll realize the persona of Creed being a Christian band was a complete joke. It actually made me stop listening to them. Despite Tremonti's tremendous talent. What it comes down to is that Creed, much like other bands, are products of labels. The band members sign contracts and they are then owned by that record company and must produce records that go with what the company wants. They can complain all they want but they are contractually obligated to do as they are told. Despite what we all believe they are on top of the world being rich and famous. I'm pretty sure Stapp isn't hurting or starving right now, after selling 30 Million copies of just 3 studio albums. At least they didn't milk the pop scene like Nickelback did.
As society continues to be dumbed down the taste and quality of music also declines. If the music helps more than hurts then it is not inline with the chaos agenda that seems so prevalent in everything today. They and their music will be targeted for not following the contract instructions of the perpetuation of societies degradation.
I do like Creed, and I'll tell you why, because as a Christian, you struggle. Most people do not realize that their are spiritual battles taking place within ones heart and soul.. If the world judges you, so what.. But for Christian's to judge you, is sad.. Christian's are sapose to build up and lift up, even worldly people.. God help, if you cause a Christian to stumble, put stumbling blocks in their way, and or cause them to fall away.. You are called blind Shepard's, by doing that.. God speaks to everyone who is willing to listen, differently.. Who are to judge another man's servent.. God is judge and not Man/woman.. Make no mistake, you will be held accountable for your actions. Especially if those actions cause someone to fall away, or cause their heart to harden towards God. Wow unto you.. Jesus set the example of how we should be. Not Man, and not woman..
Ah so it was purists too then. I thought that the Creed hate was 1 people wanted hard rock not intraspective thought provoking songs. Also just like with Nickle Back the voice thing. Which I don't know why Scott made his voice like that to sing for but what evs.
I mean creed for me is a guilty pleasure, just cuz he sounded remotely like eddie vedder, doesn’t make him a poser. The instrumentals and lyrics to all of creeds songs are original.
Not a fan of creed, but they definitely have a handful of songs I enjoy, especially Bullets
I thought Creed was awesome and still do!
Both Nickelback and Creed are great bands. Limp Bizkit still suxx.
ha
Yeah, Fred Durst is trash.
Good front man though
Opinions are like ……..and everybody has one
Even as of this video release, saying Creed is still a punchline is mostly false....... Most of the old haters grew up and are recognizing, while some stuff is cheesy and generic, that they have allot of good material
I understand why Creed fall down it was Lord permitted He doesn't want those guy to be fall in hell
Creed was a great band love it are hate it they had a good run of great music
As a church kid in the 90s Creed was “almost Christian “.
One of the best , come on man
They didn't know they were considered a Christian band until Creed was over with.
Pray for him and we all messed up
Everyone doesn’t hate creed.
Creed are awesome!
They are way better than Nickelback
I love creed why back hay hater will hate.
This video is so well done. Thank you
Lies!! But thx
I'm glad I clicked this..I'm not the only closet lover of creed music
Nope
There again don’t listen if you don’t like them you,do have options.
Not Man, and not woman..
it doesn't boil down to Scott Stapp and christianity, it boils down to Scott Stapp trying so damn hard copy Eddie Vedder
He is a baritone like Vedder. Aside from that they dont sound anything alike. Plus how did Creed get so big if everyone started out hating them?
I've never met anyone who didn't like creed lol
Tremonster 🤘🏻
Dude is a machine.
Ah so it was purists too then. I thought that the Creed hate was 1 people wanted hard rock not intraspective thought provoking songs. Also just like with Nickle Back the voice thing. Which I don't know why Scott made his voice like that to sing for but what evs.
Wait, Creed songs have lyrics? Woah.
Ha
I honestly think Creed was done dirty. Christian or not they were a great band.
Nothing that happened in his past will ever excuse him of being such an utter poser! Creed's biggest mistake was to make videos for MTV.
I mean creed for me is a guilty pleasure, just cuz he sounded remotely like eddie vedder, doesn’t make him a poser. The instrumentals and lyrics to all of creeds songs are original. If you wanna talk about posers, look at silverchair dude. Silver hair straight up tried to rip off nirvana and the entire grunge scene😂
@@nar____ But have you seen any of their videos? Anyway I liked them too, and maybe even now a song or two I hear I feel a guilty pleasure. Their first album was my favorite.
Artists copy other artists all the time. If you have a good ear for most music, you can certainly hear the cloning of certain sounds. You all make a lot of good points, it certainly creates for a great discussion. I personally love what creed did, and their albums are always a great listen.
@@barbells.dumbbells.thatsit8914 "This is not about sex... (SHEX!!!)"
Creed is awesome man fuck the haters. And alter bridge imo isn’t that good not as good as creed
If this is your way of saying you like Creed, it’s okay dude, I forgive you.
Thanks
I love Creed!
Not everyone hates Creed. They were a very good band at one point... "douche rock?" I assume you mean every single Nu Metal band that killed Rock.
Nu Metal didn't kill rock. That video is coming.
Why everyone hates creed? …but all their albums went platinum lol
Love Creed......
I like creed 🤷 so it's ok.
I love your ending (music is music) y do people away have to bring ther personal shit in to some musical talents. I love all kinda music we need to c musicians as we c arts!
I always called Creed Rock by numbers. Do you remember those old paint by numbers from when you were a kid? Creed was the corporate rock of the 90's with a grunge facade.
You’re interpreting lyrics and forming your own opinions. Stappnwrote “My Own Prison” about his heavy partying and the fact he didn’t die due to his lifestyle. “Should have been dead on a Sunday morning” refers to one particular Saturday night of HARDCORE partying. As someone who knows them personally, you don’t know what you’re talking about, you just hate Creed.
I think the point of the video is they don't deserve the hate they get. Tell Mr. Stapp some knumbskull on the internet says what's up!
Who hates Creed???
A lot of people
i feel like if u hate creed. u are an incredibly miserable person
Because they're a Pearl Jam rip off.
