Hello, i wonder if someone will see this comment. But i have the same error, i replaced the pump, checked the wiring and the fuse in engine bay. I'm still getting this error. I'd appreciate some help to diagnose my problem.
my son has the same problem. changed pump, light still on after second restart so gets through mot. car works fine no ovrerheating etc just have to live with it, not worth spending money
Mine was throwing up a fault code intermittently and showing the EML... from what i understand you can still drive the car but risk overheating when stationary ... I did mine withing a couple of days but did not use the car much , but again was intermittent and had not fully failed.
@@AdeReeves Interesting just happened to mine yesterday, will have to wait at least a few days to get it sorted whilst doing 30 miles a day... Seemed to have lost a bit of power when i was driving this morning
seems this is the description Audi give... so seems more for comfort than anything else ....Audis are indeed strange 😀 A secondary water pump (or auxiliary water pump) is not connected to the cooling system and is primarily used to circulate warm coolant to the heater exchanger. It's for driver and passenger comfort, allowing sufficient heating at low RPM and speeds.
This one was technically still running , but throwing up the error due to lack of flow... It Never touched the fuse , but i could see how it could if it was seized .
This shorted out on mine the other day and set on fire, How stupid does that sound a water pump that set on fire?? Luckily i had a fire extinguisher in my car to put it out before it set my car alight properly... 👍
You got to love Audi's ... Window regulators are common place that but 3 secondary water pumps is bad luck... have to say I'm glad i can do it myself , I bet a garage visit for this would not be cheap.
@@AdeReeves I don't think the 1800 has a secondary water pump but I was assured that the last one was the improved one at just under £300 fitted previous owner paid Audi £1500 and then £500 .I fitted the regulator myself £44 on eBay and it's a brand new and quality one if the water pump does go again I might try fitting it but I have damaged hands so it would be a struggle a5 definitely a lovely car . bought my daughter an A3 it's nice .cheers Ade
Thank you so much for this video. I rarely sub but you get one
Thanks for the sub!
Thanks for the sweet and simple video, no ridiculous channel intro, etc. Can't stand that shit. 10/10
Glad you enjoyed it ... I try to get to the point rather than waffle through a histoy lesson for half the video 🙂
I have the 01020 - Water Pump (V36) error on my Audi A4 B8. Is this the same electrical pump?
To memory the other main water pump is belt driven so i feel this is the only electrical one.
We’re is coolant pump c located on a Audi 2016 2L TDI
the main coolant pump is to the LHS under the timing cover.

What year A3 and what engine. I have 2016 with the 1.8 not sure if this applies.
was a 2009 2.0 diesel .
Where did you get the vdcs from ?

I’ve got P261a coolant pump B control circuit/ open CODE, is this the same as yr video?
highly possible...I've seen a few videos on here related to this pump, seems at some point they will fail .
Did they worn out quickly due to lots of heat? I can see it seats behind the radiator fan
Just the age..
When we install new we need obd or just install new one
just install and your good to go ..
Was yours leaking? Is it safe to drive with a faulty one?

@@AdeReeves Odd that it forces then engine light and semi limp mode to come on
Have you seen anthing on these about a fuse causing the issue? Great video btw

@@AdeReeves thanks for the reply. Do you know which fuse it is on these? I've seen where it is on other but can't find for the mk2 TT. Thanks
@@unknownuser99321 sorry no idea , but i bet google knows 🙂
@@AdeReeves haha thanks for the reply...
Did the car go into limp mode ?
No.. just threw an engine light .
@@AdeReeves ah ok I have an a3 and mine error code came with open circuit
And my car is currently in limp mode just hoping that that’s he only issue
Pay you to do mine on my q5 ?
have faith in yourself...its an easy DIY :)

Dam.... yeah a "water based" item setting a car alight would get the insurance company phoning you 😅 glad you sorted it quickly ...
I have an Audi a5coupe 12 plate 1800 tfsi low mileage I love it BUT .three water pumps and three yes three window regulators on the driver door
