@@matthewrattigan538 I understand the use of a 5 car 800 for services such as those to Lincoln, and having a consist like this is fine for an ECS move. What I do NOT understand is the reason for ordering any 5 car 801s. 801s can only be used on Leeds/York/Newcastle/Edinburgh services, which have been run by 9 coach trains for god knows how long.
800/801/802. Doesn't matter what they are, they are totally UGLY, vomit-inducing pieces of "out-dated-before-they-were-delivered" pieces of total shite. Compare one to a European train, such as the Class 180, and see the difference in build quality, aesthetics, and just scrap the Hitachi rubbish. They are the most uncomfortable trains I have ever been on, noisy to an extreme, loose panels, vibrating window glass, complete junk. No wonder, Hitachi had to bribe MPs to get to win the deal for them.
