Youll never be able to replicate patina to where it looks real. Its a good job tho but yea i can still tell its fake. Still looks a lot better than a wrap job, that shit looks so fake and cheap it just makes me cringe, hate it when people do that shit
Coming at the "rust" application from a different perspective would help. Instead of sort of filling in empty spaces, it would look much better just picturing where rain would puddle on the car and use that as your template. This is why the "rust drips" add so much to the look. I would have added more rust along the back box top ledge with some drip marks coming down the side fanning towards the rear. Add similar treatment around the wheel wells, coming off the roof, etc. IMHO I think there are too many "rust spots" in places that just logically would not occur, making it look a bit too busy in some locations. The other thing with rust is it is generally not ever formed in straight lines, which just means when applying the tape to those areas, a bit more work should be done to wrinkle the edges. Maybe use a wider tape and pinch the one edge prior to applying it. This would add some variety to the edges and shapes and hide most of the straight lines. Color wise it looks great. To blend the "rust" with the real paint, I would follow your steps with the above, but after applying the blue coat, tape off small sections around the "rust" spots. then use a light grit sandpaper to blend those areas and add some light coats, either way, to more realistically blend as is necessary. IMHO, I would have also left the "rust spots" taped until after the gloss is applied, to add to the look. That obviously adds to the time, but if this is the look you desire, it is probably worth while. Maybe test this out on a old door or fender for proof of concept.
A tip for the next time you do it, and something I noticed while working on my truck, is focus on edges and corners a lot, as those are spots where paint usually is thinner and wears a lot more easily and quickly in a natural patina. Generally paint won't wear in the middle of a door where it's flat and had even coverage and layering, so any wear emphasis in those areas will always come out as artificial
When in got my 63 falcon wagon the hood was complete rusted but the fenders and rest of the body just faded, with hardly any rust. I do think its a little over done and blotchy.
Cant hate on it. It's your canvas. Do what do you do. Haters will be around but your art will always gather like minded people. Keep doing you. Respect the ride.
Fantastic. I like the idea of the bodevision logo that others are talking about. maybe do it in the door jambs or another low key area for the subtle flex
Ive been planning a fauxtina paintjob for my datsun wagon, since it needs new doors and of course theyre blue when the car is red... This has given me so much insight on how to pull off fauxtina well. Cheers as always for the content, Adam. Keep killin it
Not something I would do to my own car. But I think it's a pretty good showcase of you as a painter, just like taylors miata it's just different and exciting.
Hey, just found the channel man. I recently made a vid showing how we fixed the patina somebody botched on our 64 c10. This was pretty different than what I did, but you did great job man. Impressed. You got a sub homie.
I thought it looked badass before, and I still think the paint job is badass. I think your logo, or business logo, would look great airbrushed on the doors, maybe in '60s script or something? Is that black EG hatch for sale? Or is that a customer car? Can't recall if you mentioned it in any of your previous videos or not.
Looks great, If I was going to attempt it I’d probably have cleared the brown first. That way it wouldn’t have smoothed down the texture when you blended the blue. Looks awesome though!
Just bring it to NY for a couple winters and you’ll get some real rust lol looks real cool though! Good job! If it wasn’t for experimental jobs like this you couldn’t perfect your skills as well.
Glad you like it, like anything I'm sure it'll be better the next time you do it. I think you have to many rust spots or not enough, it's right in that middle where it looks weird. Has that uncanny valley effect.
Was sceptical at first but looks really good, well impressed, although I think less small blotches and instead larger concentrated areas would look more realistic
I like it! Keep experimenting, I think your creativity will win you subscribers and could bring good paying future projects. Thank you for sharing your hard work.
Painted my '62 some years ago.$75 bucks, no clearcoat.starting to look ruff.perfect.didn't do a lot of sanding or body work.when painters approach me and say they can do better,I ask them if they can beat $75...
It looks sooo good!!!! You could make a bodevision livery on it and make it look scrashed up and old (my idea is a big white round on each doors and let your imagination do the rest haha)
its all good man! I know youtube picks and chooses what goes up in your feed, only way around that is by hitting the bell next to subscribe on channels you dont want to miss updates.
Colors are great
Wear pattern screams faked
Sorry for the first negative comment but you asked .
looks good but i do agree the paint is too perfect between the rust spots so it doesnt sell it well but i think it came out well.
Youll never be able to replicate patina to where it looks real. Its a good job tho but yea i can still tell its fake. Still looks a lot better than a wrap job, that shit looks so fake and cheap it just makes me cringe, hate it when people do that shit
i think it needed a third color to accent it all and some airbrush work to make it better. all in all tho its not horrible.

yeah...I thought "rust" doesn't run? Tons of work, no doubts..but um...no

Looks great! Needs a hand painted bodevision logo on the door
I was thinking the same- write it out then sand over it to match the weathered look
I agree with you guys too! About the logo..That would very good.
Love the green and flat clear, i would have painted the bed to match. As for the brown,it takes away.
That Patina paint job with the green is fire! I’m convinced to get my 79 Lincoln Continental in that style. Thank you.
Look pretty sick!! I’m sure it looks even better in person!!
yes!! Much more details
@bodevision what did you do to address the rust under the bed and on the body etc.?
Nice work. It needs a shop logo on the doors
Normally you paint the whole car and Sand down the top coat so you get a nice Patina in my opinion this looks Fake
Neat! Good thinking man! Trying to figure out how to paint our Jeep rod
Looks awesome.
I like it.
Thanks man!
@@BodeVision dude I love your channel
You are super awesome
Definitely need a vintage shop logo on the door to complete the look. Came out great dude!
Thanks man and for sure it does!
Looks great man. Finally someone doing what they want with their own car instead of what everyone else wants them to do. Keep up with the good content
This gives me a good start for my first Patina Job... Thanks
Absolutely great job it’s obviously not everyone’s thing but definitely great attitude and skills.
The front of the right fender looks the best texture wise. Badass job

What front suspension and rear axel setup are you running under the ranchero?
How long did u wait before sanding and tape removal?
Once it cures up, can you degloss with a white scotchbrite or wet sand the clear with like 800 to make it more flat?
possibly! Ill probably just leave it as is for now
To soften the taped edges you can back tape leaving and edge up for the paint to self feather making a soft paint line
I love the old patina paint job brother great job
Cant hate on it. It's your canvas. Do what do you do. Haters will be around but your art will always gather like minded people. Keep doing you. Respect the ride.
Looks amazing!!! Great job 👏👏👏!!!
Thanks so much!
Fantastic. I like the idea of the bodevision logo that others are talking about. maybe do it in the door jambs or another low key area for the subtle flex
I dig the paint job, art at it's finest. 👌I'm sure the camera doesn't do much justice.
yeah the camera doesn't at all pick up the different brown and stuff along those lines.
I think it looks pretty cool. I think a nice set of staggered 18/20s would look great too. Get her low low!
BOOM!! You are rocking it
dope ! have you done any patina type paint jobs wear you use the brown and a different top color ?
Definitely a one of a kind job! Great work.
Wild dude! you're an artist
Thanks man!! Cant wait for future projects!
Can you cut and buff that clear?
Ive been planning a fauxtina paintjob for my datsun wagon, since it needs new doors and of course theyre blue when the car is red... This has given me so much insight on how to pull off fauxtina well. Cheers as always for the content, Adam. Keep killin it
Thanks man! Just have fun with it!
All these different paint jobs really showcase you're talent. Good job BodeVision.
Thanks man!
Turned out dope! Now go assemble it and take it for rip and enjoy that warm fuzzy feeling of accomplishment.
Your intro is one of the best on RUclips and original AF. But how do you come up with a new one every time?
tk106 he stays committed to his channel.
Its easy to come up with because it can just be anything lol thanks for that though man! Acura Painter sees the commitment!
I love it! Awesome job dude! 🤙
Thanks man!
Cool paint job. Clear coat sets it off
Rust doesn't "drip", and a good patina job actually has primer showing, as well as bare steel.
But looks pretty good for a garage job !
I freaken love this! Excellent execution!!!!
Thanks so much man!!
Not something I would do to my own car. But I think it's a pretty good showcase of you as a painter, just like taylors miata it's just different and exciting.
Thanks man! I think it works for this car but i wouldnt do it on a modern car or honda
Looks amazing keep up the great work
Thanks so much!
Looks awesome man!!!!!!! Keep up the great work.
Thanks man!
That looks really cool
Thanks man!
Loved my old 65 Ranchero! Red with white on side. Pinstriped - looked really cool!
Not quite my style but I can definitely appreciate your skill , creativity and hard work .
Hey, just found the channel man. I recently made a vid showing how we fixed the patina somebody botched on our 64 c10. This was pretty different than what I did, but you did great job man. Impressed. You got a sub homie.
Thanks so much man! Just took a stab at it! I like your channel as well and it seems like you are on track to building a big channel. Keep it up!
@@BodeVision Thanks man!
Your Dynasty Green paint is Spot-On... I have a 1965 Galaxie, Who supplied the paint? Getting closer to the day I get it painted

starting at 4:45 in the linked video
If it's showing the line of sanding process or like scratch, can we still call it Patina style ?
Looks awesome great look for the car
Awesome job love it🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍
Mind blown 🤯
Looks great💪🏽🇻🇮
Thanks so much!
It would have been hard not to have that blue on the whole car its such a pretty color
looks sick!!
This came out very VERY nice!
I've never seen this done before holy cow. Amazing job!
Thanks man!
Looks dope af
Thanks man!
Looks killer! Wish I lived closer to have you do my truck.

Dynasty Green!!! I like it

Just subscribed....wat to see more work from you...cuz this was awesome man😊👍
I think it looks great. The rust looks real! I'm not sure about the drip effect though. Looks good, but next time I would leave out the drips.
Ive watched this several times AWESOME JOB
Thanks so much man!
It's something different. I think it would of looked killer without the "patina", but you do you. I'd still rock it!
Nice job. 👍
Thanks man!
How much to do the same thing to my truck?
Do my jeep as a test project? It looks bad as hell. I love it!
It looks really good man I bet you could sell it for a good amount of money now
Thanks so much and maybe one day!
What color brown is that??
In my Bret the hitman heart voice “the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be”!!!🔥🏆💯🔥🏆💯
lmao thanks man!
Looks great, If I was going to attempt it I’d probably have cleared the brown first. That way it wouldn’t have smoothed down the texture when you blended the blue. Looks awesome though!
Looks pretty cool next time take an old So sas pad rip it up and start spraying gives a cool effect for making rust spots looks good man your style
Just bring it to NY for a couple winters and you’ll get some real rust lol looks real cool though! Good job! If it wasn’t for experimental jobs like this you couldn’t perfect your skills as well.
yeah man between all the coats and the amount of surface on this car i got a lot if gun time. Feels real good!
Dude.....you right up there with SEMA quality and perfection!!!!
Glad you like it, like anything I'm sure it'll be better the next time you do it. I think you have to many rust spots or not enough, it's right in that middle where it looks weird. Has that uncanny valley effect.
thanks for watching!
Looks Dope Adam....Great Work as always!
Patina faux really have to try and get my head around this look!?
When did it become a "thing"??
Love It. Inspired me to try it!
Wow man looks killer
Looks good
Thanks!
Looks good!
dude that's sick! great job I have it's cousin. I'm working on a 64 comet 2 door

I can do it for $71
It looks sooo good!!!! You could make a bodevision livery on it and make it look scrashed up and old (my idea is a big white round on each doors and let your imagination do the rest haha)
haha thanks man!
Thanks i feel bad i missed this one damn thanks bode
its all good man! I know youtube picks and chooses what goes up in your feed, only way around that is by hitting the bell next to subscribe on channels you dont want to miss updates.
I think it looks awesome! Maybe some bad to bone bumper music would have fit this a might bit better 😂
I like the effect... A lil "too much" patina tho
Damn that's a nice blue
Green lol
Great job
You changed my mind, I had concerns but now I’m about it. Good work bro
