Hello mate, you should put the other affiliate links aswell... I bought a Cloudlifter + my XLR cables thanks to your video. I think some of the people coming here already have the microphone !
Man thanks for sharing I was just trying to figure out how all this works and everyone is either gate keeping or thinks you’re telepathic and should just know this
i have issue in windows sounds - recording - microphone levels - should i put 100 or 50 ?? , cause every things about good quilty in rodecaster + sm7b changed because of that ! waiting for answer sir ?
I am a huge fan of the "a forever setup" idea. A lot of RUclipsrs who promote cheaper mics really do people a deservice - why waste money on cheaper stuff only to keep dreaming of the golden standard. Why not get the good stuff from the start? It's cheaper too, in the long run. It's not as if you have to buy SM7Bs or CloudLifters every month or week. And with the RTX Voice you can also get rid of background noise.💙
I have the Harmoney 224 interface, it goes up to 60db of gain and runs my sm7b with no cloud lifter very well with absolutely no audible noise at normal volume levels. obviously if you crank everything up to max you get some noise but you are never going to do that while recording so it makes no difference.
Yeah not sure if this guy is sponsored for this but needing a cloudlifter is out dated at this point and if you are getting this mic it's serious business so you should be treating the audio any way.
@@crazycaptain9787 what's ridiculous is that you spent damn near half a grand on a mic and didn't think to do ANY research on what a dynamic XLR mic is or how it works lol. its not going to come with everything. the basic audio interface alone is like $130

get an audient interface with the mic and you wont need a cloud lifter. i have the audient id4 mkii it's like $150 and it has the same high quality pre amps as their like actual high end studio equipment that costs thousands of dollars

Hi I gave the Sony A74 camera. I just got the Mv7x Shure mic. How do I connect to my camera without a mixer? Can I use a go wireless mic transmitter to bridge the gap between these two?
I have a question. I have the Shure SM7B, and even though I have all the components you used in the video and all the connections are correct, the microphone generates background noise, like a sound of rain. I think that’s called static. How did you solve it? I’ve tried everything and I haven’t been able to fix it. I changed the interface, bought another XLR cable, and tried connecting it to all the ports on my PC, but nothing works. I don’t know what to do anymore, or if this noise is normal for the microphone. Can you help me with that, please?
i built a square booth with molton curtains in a noisy environment but i want to just cover 3 sides ....which side should i leave uncovered? front, side or back of the sm7b?
Plz sir,do shure SM 7b mic work well with focusrite 2in2 out well,I'm a singer trying to setup a home studio,I have bought the focusrite 2in2out already, going to get my mic tomorrow, and I'm choosing either shure sm7b and rode nt2a?
Great video. I have noticed my SM7B transfers the sound when I touch it throughout my audio chain. So Mic to Cloudlifter, to DBX286s, to Scarlett 2. But when I type or I touch the microphone, I hear the room and even me touching the mic. Like say I scratch the back end of the mic. It never did that before. Any tip what it can be?
Thank you for this video. Excellent job. A question i have though, is if i'm recording into software like Camtasia, it seems like my Rodecaster levels and recording software levels conflict at times and i get 'hot' sounds at times. When i record directly to the MicroSD card in the Rodecaster i have much better results.
Personally, if you want to monitor your own audio while in game or at all times like a audio junkie like myself. I recommend voicemod audio software. an added bonus is the voice changer that you can use or leave.
Just picked up the mic and Cloudlifter or in your vernacular..I “got it”. Great sound running into my Scarlett 2i2. Don’t need a mixer yet. I run into Audition. Just figuring out what settings to use on the mike. Going to start with flat. Thoughts?
hey would u recommend the cloudlifter with Rode caster Duo? I watched a video they recommended the *Rode caster duo should is not recommended with cloudlifter *due to hissing noise. so without Cloudlifter it makes the mic sound more cleaner.
Question, when I hit record on FL Studio it sounds like static and my voice sounds deep and robotic. It only happens when I hit record and I don’t know why it’s happening. I’ve been searching videos and nothing helps
I have an Elgato Wave DX with the Wave XLR right now for my vtuber gaming channel and I'm wondering if there would be any point in upgrading to the Shure SM7B in the future and maybe a Bridgecast XLR interface what would you recommend
Hello, thank you for making this video. I bought exactly the same set that you recommend here, including the rode cast 2, and I have a Ssssss noise that remains even when setting the DB to 35 34. What else can I do to improve it? I invested more than 2 thousand dollars in the two sm7B microphones, two cloudlifters, the Rode caster console, 2 microphone bases and cables. Does anyone have any advice?
hi sir what app/software do you use in pc for shure sm7b + alto mixer? if ever that is free... i wanna do some song covers but i dont know which app to use. thank you so much for your reply
Hey i have cloudlifter, shure headphone, sm7b mic, and focusrite. It seems like the sound comes out either the headphones or laptop instead of my mic 🤦🏾♀️ what im doing wrong? Also, it doesn’t gives a professional sound, just my normal voice
What is the Recording Device Level that you have on the computer ? Cause I can set it to 25, and have to increase the gain on my scarlett, or else I can set it to 80 and decrease the gain on the scarlett, which one would give you a better result ?
I tried a bunch of digital\USB mixers to work with Discord and gaming, and they all had horrible latency. The only combo that has worked for me is the RME Raydat and an optical connection with a Focusrite Octopre Dynamic.
i have this mic plugged into -> scarlett SOLO -> into my windows pc and cant seem to turn on / see any db levels go up on my mic what am i doing wrong?

Thank you for that. I just purchased the SM7B with the Cloudlifter attached to a Scarlett 2i2 3r gen. It sounds amazing! There are many versions of the Shure Earbuds but the one I picked has the 3.5mm adapter plug for the Scarlett. Even with the gain knob at 3/4 turn, my mic is still a bit low. I place the mic as you did about 2" from my face too. I had to add some gain in OBS Studio to get the sound at a good level. I hate using gain because I know it derogates from the sound quality, but I had no choice. Thank you!
You don't need a cloudlifter with this microphone..I have it with a GoXLR and it sounds just fine...my gain is not high, I have zero line noise...If you want to listen to what people say online and waste money then do what you want I guess. As far as the shure earbuds go..there's many other IEM's out there that provide way higher quality sound for gaming compared to these..not saying they are bad though
Yeah, and if you are going to live stream, you need to boost the sm7b's signal unless you don't care about your audio quality. If that be the case, why did you buy the legendry sm7b? Even if you are going to remix or master your recording, why eff around with filtering line noise when you can just not induce it in the 1st place. Cloudlifter. Or equivalent (there really isn't one. To be honest you save more money getting a preamp shure mic .I still use a mixer to control sound but its way cheaper then getting the cloud and xlr ...just saying ..

I thought the 7b has a built in preamp to solve the 5b issues?
So basically buy the Mic + 100 accessories. Got it!
Hahah
Yes if you want that professional sound.
Welcome to premium audio recording
Loool exactly
You really only need a audio interface, the mic, and the cloud lifter. The rest is preferences. Doesn't affect the sound much
This is it! I was plugging the mic straight into my interface and getting a ton of room noise/hiss. The cloud lifter cleared that right up.
Great setup video. Links to items such as the XLR cable you recommend would have been helpful though. Thanks!
this is best guide i have ever seen, thank you!

Note: phantom power is for the cloud lifter. Dymanic mics normally do not use phantom power, so this may be a point of confusion in this set up.

Great description of the value of the SM7B. I really like how you explain what is great and what is not useful. Thx lot

What software do you recommend recording in?
He uses Open Broadcasting Software to screen record, record audio. It's free. Most video editing software will let you record audio too.
I have sm7b and Rodecaster duo without cloudlifter and my mic barely registers green when I talk into it.

Yes it would eliminate any type of hissing in your video and make it so infinitely better and it will save you time in post processing.

Nice video. Very informative....I heard you don't need a cloud lifter if you have a rodecaster pro 2. Is that correct? Thanks amigo
Your studio speakers' name please..
are you ultimately recording right into Final Cut ProX or another editing program....or...recording onto a card?
The sm7b is a dynamic mic though so you don't even need phantom power to get it to work
The phantom power is for the cloudlifter.
Brother but you have a Rodecaster Pro, why you use the cloudlifter?
exactly, I'm running wave xlr with 75db. I'm not buying a cloudlifter
Great video, you just helped to set mine up for me.

Try using a cloudlifter, or related to that, it gives an additional 25 db of gain, and since the shure needs about 60db it should help with it.
