@@waltercoyle6393 Sure thing! I have found that the SM7B requires it, while the SM58 needs neither phantom power or the lifter. I am no expert, but happy to help any way I can. Have a great morning.
This guy has helped me tremendously. Jist 4 months ago I bought the SM7B mic from Shure, Cloudlifter from Guitar Center, Rodecaster Pro 2 from rode, 2 XLR cables from Rode and set all of my filters to his recommended settiings in OBS and I promise I sound amazing and have never changed my settings 😂 this guy knows his stuff!
This is the simplest set up ever, therefore the most frustrating because I have no signal. My mic is going into the cloud lifter and the cloud lifter is going into my USB interface. The USB interface has phantom power turned on. I have no signal. Everything works fine when I remove the cloud lifter from the equation. Is it because I don’t have a microphone or mixer in the chain before the cloud lifter to pump signal?
Always such great content 🙏 I am picking up the monitoring headphones you suggested. Also meed to check my cables, I have been getting crackling noise in my OBS audio only (not in any other program), and it is a new problem in the past six month so….🤷♂️
Using M-Audio interface and reaper with a cloud lifter. Brand new cables and XLR microphone plugged into Line 1. Can still barely hear the microphone and I have checked everything. Still have to turn input volume up until i get a hiss then I can hear it.
I'm having a GOXLR mini + SM7B (without cloudlifter) and sometimes my voice gets robotic. Do you know what it could be causing this? Can be the bad XLR cable?
Yes, you will need the 48V phantom power turned on your mixer in order to operate. This powers in-line preamps so they can give a boost to your dynamic or ribbon mic.
@@Rockyylikee if you are using a dynamic mic or ribbon mic, yea. Definitely something to try out. It’s affording you the benefit of a lower noise floor when you are trying to dial in the appropriate gain for recording. A good portion of noise floor is usually hum from a preamp…the higher you set your gain, the more hum. In any case, these give you extra gain to your mic without having to turn your gain on the preamp up as high…and a lower noise floor is a very desirable thing for pro recording
@awalldigital Do i really need the Cloudlifter CL-1 on my Shure SM7B ? Actually i record vocals only for my song. then i set it up on my audacity. and i send it to my mixed and engineer. I hope it will be noticed thank you !
👀 BUY: Cloudlifter CL1: amzn.to/3h9buTC (Affiliate)
Have had it since getting my SM7B a couple yeas ago, works great, using with 2i2.
@@TheMentalHealthToolbox do you use phantom power or not?
@@waltercoyle6393 I do.
@@TheMentalHealthToolbox Thanks

Can I use a XLR to USB to go into my PC or do I have to have a mixer?

Did you turn phantom power on? Cloudlifter requires it.
@@dododingus3787 I got it working it was a bad xlr cable. Thanks very much for the response though!!!!! ❤️👍
Can you use a cloudlifter with a mic pre? or is it basically a mic pre itself?
Ure geeking so much on small details
what XLR cable are you using? Is there a link to buy?
Does CloudLifter CL1 require a battery, as I'm using a Shure sm7b on a W2ihy 8 band graphic equalizer, into a ham radio?
Cloudlifter requires phantom power.

So are you supposed to use phantom power with a cloudlifter or not?
It truly is not that easy.
Same question I had

@@mikedelamorte6744 So, this would be a great tool for recording vocals as well in recording studio?

I have a bunch of low quality xlr cables... Glad I watched this video 😂. The sound on this video is kinda boxy...
What do you even mean by “touching lights”.
