On the basis of your review, I recently purchased and received a 50# QuickDraw Dumbell set, and am completely delighted with my purchase. Here's why: First, the set arrived in three boxes, two containing the 30# barbells, and the third contained the extra weights, for a total of 50# each barbell. The packaging was excellent, and everything arrived in perfect condition. More importantly, this dumbell set is extremely well engineered and the build quality is top-tier. Weight selection is quick and In use, these dumbells feel balanced and secure. I also like that I can add additional plates up to 60# if needed. Highly recommended if, like me, you will not likely need more than 60# in each hand.
👍 The fact that these are significantly longer than the NuoBells & at lesser weight (50-lbs not enough, need 75 or 80-lbs minimum) is enough I believe, for most people to end up going with the NuoBells, though I do love the durability factor on these... RESPONSE TO REPLIES BELOW: No argument, it all comes down to opinion & individual use & body characteristics. For me, a longer dumbbell is at least a little prohibitive for overhead press & curls, as well as several smaller movements. I'm likely inclined to get that $2k Pepin set Coop reviewed, though I don't like that they start at 30-lbs. If I don't get those then I'll pick up the Nuobells + 3-year warranty. You're all correct though & I appreciate the replies - Nuobells should upgrade from plastic to metal on all parts; that would solve the durability issue to make them more of a no-brainer & I'd gladly pay an extra $100 or $200 for that... Best to you all...
Nuobells are junk. They use tiny plastic cam followers to move the shafts in and out. They will wear out or break with regular use, and they are not repairable. Unacceptable at that price point.
Doubt it... I'm sure people care more about overall durability rather than length. Length will not stop a single DB movement that I know of, but a broken dumbell that was dropped on accident definitely will.
@@MelloHubb Not true. I took one look at the REP's and thought 'those are waaaaaay too long to use comfortably and they only go to 60 lbs???? *HARD NO* '
I'd like to see a head to head of the Rep and NordicTrack 55 Lb. Select-A-Weight Dumbbells. 55 vs 60, not much difference there and I like the way the Nordic Track's small adder plates just rest in the cradle and don't have to be moved into position as with Rep's. I believe they are cheaper too and yet seem competitive.
They look great. The tip on making the 5 pound increments attach on the bottom would make them a lot easier to use - hopefully Rep considers that change. Biggest downside is capping the weight at 60 pounds - interesting to see what Rep will do with the rumoured 120 pound version.
Having the 5lb additions attach sounds like a good idea but in reality it could shear fingers off. If you had your grip all the way to either side & put the dumbbell with any force into the cradle, the 2 plates from the bottom would crush your fingers. This would force everybody to be very careful putting it back on the cradle and risk becoming a cripple.
Thanks for the review and the suggestions Coop! Two quick notes: 1) The $429.99 price on Instagram was for the 5-50 set, which is what we launched at. Sorry for the confusion. We know this 5-50 set price point is what we'll be compared at for many. 2) The tolerance/slop issue has been resolved and the full retail units will be significantly tighter tolerance between plates.
@@richards6431 but which one did you get the 30lbs or 60lbs? I want to do the same i have ironmasters. These ones would be good for small muscles, but 30lbs the craddle is just as big lol might as well do the 50 minimum
I think these are the ones! I'm looking for that weight range (just an average joe wanting to increase my base strength for work and such) but i was looking for something that checked all the boxes especially with durability. I wanted the Pepin but they're so dang expensive. Thank you for the review!
I got some Snodes 80lbs adjustable dumbbells a year ago. If those ever break on me, I think I'll get these if they ever start selling 80lbs (or at least 70lbs) ones (and if no other new and better ones come on the market by then). These look great!
The 5lbs increment being separate is usually a deal breaker for me but the fact you can drop these might be its best selling point. As well it’s lifetime warranty.
Long time watcher, first time comment. I really enjoy the videos and come here first for recommendations as I grow my garage gym. I'm probably getting the ironmaster dumbbells next month and would love to see these compared to the ironmaster
I got my set of ironmasters 3 years ago, and I am fully satisfied with them. They have a lifetime warranty as well and are probably the most durable adjustable Dumbell there is so you cant really go wrong
Great initial review as always… It looks like the cradle is not necessarily needed to change weight, so do you think it could be possible to purchase additional add-on plates to go higher than 60lbs?
Got my set in today and they did not fix the fit of the plates. They move around a bit, overhead extensions are noisy due to the plates bouncing around and so on. Still great so far after the first work out section but yeah they did not fix that if that is an issue for anyone.
trying decide between these and the Nuobells. the extra 20lbs is great (though im just returning to working out so it'll be some time before im using 80lbs for much of anything), but saving $250 is very nice.
Coop please do a review on the new Kensui Adjusta-bells MAX metal handles with 130lbs capacity per handle and apparently can be dropped. Seems like the ultimate budget option if you've already got the olympic plates and don't mind the slower changing time!
The ironmaster adjustable Dumbells are currently available for 430 bucks free shipping for a 44 pound set. They also have a lifetime warranty, can be expanded from 5 to 180 pounds, and are more compact and truley fully made of metal. For most people 60 pounds is just not enough, In my opinion you would be better off investing in the time proven system of Ironmaster
Unless you’re doing drop sets, most of these can still be adjusted lightning fast or at least enough where it isn’t a deterrent to use them. I always rest my powerblocks on their stand and never on the floor and it takes one second to move the clip.
I'm definitely curious to see how future models of REP's look. How much weight, how compact, etc. Also, most brands go for the round shape, but wouldn't a square let you squeeze in more weight for thinner plates so more compact that way?
Yes a square has more area and thus more volume mathematically but I think the problem is dropping. Square plates have corners which create some issues with durability when being dropped or even placed down with force.
60 lbs just seems too light to get hyped about, especially from the home gym enthusiasts who are following this release. Even for a strong female, these just aren’t enough weight for rows or heavy bench press. If REP can follow up with 120s that are as durable, I’ll certainly be interested!
oh i just watched the rep db video where the engineer shows the cradle isn't needed. someone buy 2 sets to combine and make 110s or 4 sets and make 210s. Coop combine the plates on the 2nd db onto 1 handle to make 110s please
Nice review, but I'll stick with my FitRX adjustable dumbbells. 10 to 90 lb. (5 lb.) increments $430 shipped, build qualities like an old Bowflex dumbbell, but how you change the weight, it's simple: just rotate the handle left or right. I've only found two places selling them and they're not on their official website.
been keeping my eye on the NordicTrack set since your review. I'm not sure I see a $100 increase in value in these for 5lbs more. I mean I guess the warranty is good. I do love REP though, have several things from them. so we'll see when the time comes. $100 is enough for more equipment.
I have the Nordics and I like them but the plastic base can be a problem when you pull out the higher weights. Mine got stuck and I ended up dropping 10 pounds onto a toe. Of course there is a warning sticker on there but the fact remains that it can be dangerous. I wouldn't feel confident about dropping the Nordics either. They're good for what they are as someone getting into a home gym but if you're 100% certain you'll stick with it for years I'd probably recommend getting something more durable. Not sure how much the max weight matters to the average person. I'm currently using 30 pounds for most of my workouts and it is HARD. I feel like it might be 6-12 months before I even start getting to 45/50.
@@scopie49Never saw your reply but I appreciate it. Finally have the money to afford a set of adjustables. Rep was actually my front runner despite my comment. Circles back to watch the review again before I purchase. Again, I appreciate your input, I feel a little better about leaning towards Rep.

There are jsm fitness dumbbell that looks interesting. They seems to be mosty metal, a lot of small increments, with simillar change mechanism to nuo. I'd love to hear your oppinion on this.
Nah 60 is more than enough for most people, because most people only use dumbbells for complementary movements. People like us who watch home gym videos for fun are the exception, not the rule. But yeah, I'll keep using my old U-90 Powerblocks, which unlike most of these newer options like Nuobell, will probably last me the rest of my life.
Cool video I really like all these adjustable dumbbells and a really long time ago I got a pair of power blocks but at the time they were like the only adjustable dumbbells on the market I believe but since then there's been a million different ones but you said in another video that pepin was going to possibly make even heavier ones than their current 120 pound versions so how heavy are they gonna go just curious?
Have you tested this in a unbalanced load configuration? Lets say I wanted to do something like a mace style routine, how does it hold up there? Or Maybe I'm just kinda dumb and I load 20 on one side and 30 on the other. Great review, interested to hear more thoughts.
Coop, can you do asymmetrical loading on this? To replicate a club (like the ones hanging in the back) or to do heavy pronated curls, forearm work, etc?
Could these handle being in a commercial environment - durability wise? I"m sure people would leave the extra plates lying around in rando locations around the gym, but maybe the next version will have a better way of organizing the adjustable weights.
Will you review the Trulap 8592 adjustable dumbells? they look sturdy too (but only 3 years warranty) and the weight increment seems interesting (3.5lb). Do you think the 52lb version can be compared with the Rep quickdraw ? Thanks for your very interesting channel (and sorry for my bad english).
How do these compare to NordicTrack Select-A-Weight Adjustable Dumbbells??? I would like to see a direct comparison as I am seriously considering purchasing these the only issue I have is want to make sure they are worth $100 more than the NordicTrack ones which I also like a lot.
Just received mine and I think they are great! Glad I got them. Hey Coop, do you recommend or know of a dumbbell stand that will work for these? Rep does not offer one and I would love to get these off the ground for smoother workouts.
recently got the 50 LB Nordictrack smart dumbbells for $160 brand new. I would consider those nubell or these but cant justify the extra $300-600 dolllars 😂
The maximum weight isn't sufficient and the two extra side bars make them even less appealing to me, as they're not compatible with Spot grips, Like Pepin fast series and PowerBlocks.
60lb (ca. 27 kg) really isn't enough to defend buying a set like this. A mid-weight shoulder press warm up is going to 70lb (ca. 32 kg), and it's going to top around 120lb (ca. 54 kg) - 130lb (ca. 59 kg), depending on how I'm feeling. I couldn't get a good chest press in, chest fly, row, etc... so for me, these just can't cut the mustard. I think a set of adjustable dumbbells really needs to hit at least 80lb (ca. 36 kg), and really 100lb (ca. 45 kg) to be a good deal. However, the price isn't terrible, so maybe for a light at home adjustable set I could see this working.
Ativafit and Bowflex are both unreliable and prone to breaking, posing a risk of injury from falling plates. Consider opting for Rep Quickdraw instead.
If the plates are interchangeable is it possible to take the plates from one dumbell and add it to the other to make it more than 60 lb? For like heavy rows.
i started off so pissed that i already have nuobells and these look so sweet until coop said 60 lbs and how big they are then i was like ok i love my nuobells :D
If these came out in 80lbs+ I'd be very interested. There are just too many cases where 60lbs isnt enough.

If he can do a one arm standing shoulder press at its full weight it’s not heavy enough.
Just received mine and I think they are great! Glad I got them. Hey Coop, do you recommend or know of a dumbbell stand that will work for these? Rep does not offer one and I would love to get these off the ground for smoother workouts.
Do they have as much slop as the ones in the video?
I thought the thumbnail said these were budget dumbbells?
Did anyone else see the massive flex at 2:00?
recently got the 50 LB Nordictrack smart dumbbells for $160 brand new.
I would consider those nubell or these but cant justify the extra $300-600 dolllars 😂
The maximum weight isn't sufficient and the two extra side bars make them even less appealing to me, as they're not compatible with Spot grips, Like Pepin fast series and PowerBlocks.
Will the cradle also fit the ones for Nuobell? They seem similar. Or do you recommend another stand in general?
Hope affordable good ones comes to india too
I agree with you these are too light for many movements
Did you mention how much the adjustment interval is? Looks like 10lb increments only?
Compare to trulap please. Where is the stand alone trulap video?
Would you recommend REP quickdraw or ativafit? I don't know what to do!!!! I was about to get bowflex, but changing my mind
Ativafit and Bowflex are both unreliable and prone to breaking, posing a risk of injury from falling plates. Consider opting for Rep Quickdraw instead.
Can you do a review of the leverage gym from powertec and the IM2000 from iron master , pretty please
When are the 120s coming out?
Someone needs to make a 55-120 pound dumbbell. I wouldn't mind having my 5-50 and then the 55-120 for 2 sets.
Better than Snode?
If the plates are interchangeable is it possible to take the plates from one dumbell and add it to the other to make it more than 60 lb? For like heavy rows.
i have smartbells and they are great
make a video about them
Compare with Nuobell plz!!
i started off so pissed that i already have nuobells and these look so sweet until coop said 60 lbs and how big they are then i was like ok i love my nuobells :D
Would love higher weight pairs
