I do not understand the big deal with wireless charging. First it is not wireless charging. True wires would be able to charge as you walk around. Second where ever you want to charge you need an expensive pad. Just plug in anyplace with a cheaper cable. And no exact placement as with the available pads. Yes I know some cars have built in pads.
I’m sorry, I understand that ppl are disappointed about AirPower going away, but I don’t get comparing the development of AirPower to Space X making a self landing rocket? It would make more sense if you compared NASA to Space X or Apple compared to another, much smaller company, that makes wireless chargers? Your content is usually pretty neutral, this one tho is leaning. Honestly, we don’t really know why it was cancelled. I honestly think it was kinda dumb for them to try an enter a very cluttered, well established, wireless charging market. And let’s be honest, it’s a wireless charger... idk what could have impressed anyone about it. Really, most RUclipsr’s would have been disappointed and bashed them about it.
Its because the power from one coil would be transferred to the overlapping coils causing a back feed of power that would be extremely difficult to deal with let alone extremely inefficient.

I think the animation shown when placing the devices on a Qi charger should still be used, as that is a very cool feature 😊
I have been waiting for the AirPower the whole time and I’m really annoyed how they just cancelled it and not made just a normal wireless charger with set spots for all the devices.
Thanks so much Daniel, because I’ve been so terribly curious as to what the hold up has been after all this time. I appreciate all the tremendous hard work you and your team put into the content you deliver...much kudos!!!
Good it’s pointless anyway. I’d never use it. If you can’t use your phone while it’s charging then it’s not needed. Hopefully they just jump to making an actual wireless charging, something you can wirelessly charge your phone while you’re holding it. Like a transmitter or something.
Ayon Haque Yea right now. It will get better but still. Think about it, I would rather have something continuously charging my phone while I’m at home completely wirelessly while I’m using it. Then have to set it down on a pad. Even if it charges slow it’s still better.
Looks at bit like the long discontinued PowerMat, but that requires a adapter device or a charging case or back cover. Wonder if there was any lawsuit.
Why does the number of coils matter? Surely only a maximum of three would be powered at any one time. It would be just like having three wireless chargers in a row.
Could not Apple make 3 moving coils (detecting the place where a device is located) inside of the mat instead of 25 static ones in the mat? There is no so much heat from 3 coils.
If it does not work then I am okay with them canceling it. That is far better than wireless heating gate, or wireless dead spots, or wireless can’t really charge.
If the convenience was to not even worry about where I place the product on the mat, I don't need/want to wait for an animation to let me know how much battery percentage said device has, specially when that info was already available on the iPhone before putting it down on the mat. Nobody is actually complaining about the actual chargers on the market. They wanted to over engineer something that shouldn't require someone's attention. The fact that they lied will simply put other announcements in questioning as soon as the launch is detailed.
The company was never “worth” one trillion. The stock market fluctuates, and that time it was PRICED over 1 trillion. That doesn’t mean it’s “worth” over a trillion Edit: it’s like buying a $50 bill for $100. Just because someone paid $100 for a $50 bill doesn’t automatically make the $50 bill into a $100. Point is, don’t base a company’s “worth” on stock market price. To do that you look at a thing called a Balance sheet.
