Outstanding interview gentleman. I’m a “Fudd” that lived that 1911 life back in the IDPA days and love to see one of Bills old build guns and hear Ken reminisce. Great job!
One of your best videos yet! Always love to see Kent Hackathorn and you, Sir, founts of fascinating knowledge and Kent's reminiscences are always poignant. Reminds me of listening to my Uncle Floyd.
Great video. Hopefully one day you can sit down and chat with Ken and Bill Wilson. Between videos like this and Wilson’s The Gun Guys, it’s awesome to document this history before it’s too late.
Growing up in the 90's I remember watching "Nash Bridges" with my dad every Friday night. The two things I wanted more than anything were Nash's '71 Cuda, and his comp'd .38 Super Colt
I love these old school comp guns....I could never afford true full custom guns at the time but I still have both my Springfield Armory PDP Defender(.45) and my Springfield Armory Factory comp in .38 super. I love them both.... unfortunately both have been modified quite a bit over the years by local smiths as I used both in local competition.
I remember in 1989.my brother-in-law went to gunsite. he came back and taught me everything he learned including video tapes. It was like sitting at the feet of a master. I always regretted not being able to go because I couldn't afford it then.
That gun brings back memories. That was "The Gun to Have" when I started shooting USPSA in the late 80's. Back then it was a two year wait for one. One of the guys in my area, was a sponsored shooter for Wilson Combat and he let me try one out. Fantastic gun. Thanks for the video!
There you go kids, one of the legends… He don’t care if you have a light or not. These guys have learned the hard way. I would say if you have a light on your handgun, then you should also have one clipped to your pocket, don’t learn the hard way. Also he just said you WILL shoot better with a dot… BUT YOU HAVE TO TRAIN with it. So, if you have a dot and you haven’t even put 500 rounds minimum through it… then something is probably wrong. Thanks men!
Nobody needs him to tell us what we should be doing. thats the point. its called freedom. fudds need to move on and go back to yelling at kids to get off their lawn
Excellent conversation. Back in the day I worked part time in a gun shop about an hour away from where Ken lived in Ohio. About once a year he would pop in and see what we had going on. The whole place came to a stop as we all would listen to Ken talk about guns. Watching this made me fondly remember those visits.
Mike plaxco was one of the first in the development of the comp and made it popular too, won nationals in 1982, steel challenge and second chance all in 1982 with the plaxco comp
Nice video I love 1911’s and people who really is famous on that platform if you interview Rob Leatham would be. Very interesting video hopefully one day it happens
Let's face it. Any kind of light is necessary in the dark. The rest of the gadgets are nice and fun to have, but you definitely can do without them. The torch, however, is a must when you can't see shit.
Yes I wish Uspsa would make the stages how they were in the 1980s in the hay days real props, doors and walls even cars on the stage, now it just seems there all about the money
Let's face it. Ken lost it like one time in all his legendary career and it happened at the pistol light debate point. The statement got even worse burn from folks aware of the fact that he and Bill made a Magill produced VHS in 1997 teaching people in the use of mounted lights during the night. However, I would not bury him, Paul Howe or Bill, for each of them has done so much good for the 2A community that is hard to even imagine. Even the great and universally beloved Jeff Cooper talked crap at times. Everybody has the right to a bad day every now and then, I guess.
Jeff Cooper, Elmer Keith, Jerry Barnhart and Ken Hackathorn. Legends
We actually rode by and saw Elmer Keith's house!

What kind of American doesn’t know who Ken Hackawthorn is??? He’s an American hero to me and I’m a millennial
Very cool that you are collaborating with Ken Hackathorn. Look forward to more. Utah sure is a beautiful state.
He's a good personal friend!
That’s Idaho.

I think the next video with Ken will be even better!
@@1776_duck heck yeah, man! Miss my Uncle Floyd, but Ken is still here, and thank God for that!
Great video and great collaboration - Duck and Ken!! Two of the great ones together!
I always enjoy listening to and absorbing the knowledge that these legends have to pass down to us. Thanks for sharing.
Every word he shares is knowledge transfer.
Great video. Hopefully one day you can sit down and chat with Ken and Bill Wilson. Between videos like this and Wilson’s The Gun Guys, it’s awesome to document this history before it’s too late.
That is the main reason I am doing these videos- to document as much history as possible!

I didn't grow up in the 90s, but same...
@@1776_duck ouch!
That was a Jim McDonald Mac’s.45 shop built the nash bridges gun, that was jim zubiena gunsmith
Great video. I think Ken Hackathorn is great. You have got a new subscriber. At 70 years old I still shoot and carry only the 1911.
Beautiful Country, Fantastic Old Colt, and The Man Himself! Great Video Duck!
Thanks man!
Thanks for the video. Always helpful to get info and experience from legends keep it coming!
I agree!

It's funny I just came from an alchemy video looking forward to this
Alchemy and 1776_duck go hand in hand!

Outstanding. Thanks much
I'd love to see Alchemy introduce comp options, but geared more towards this old school aesthetic. Y'all are the perfect company to take on this look.
That would be awesome
Glad to see the tactiturds haven’t run Ken off of RUclips Completely. Good to hear from him again!
Excellent information! Keep ‘em comin’, Eli! No worries on the audio…improvise, adapt and overcome.
Thanks Kevin!
Hurry! We need episode 2!
Next week I think I’m posting a Milt Sparks video!

Great video series - Keep up the great work Eli 👍
Check out the Nighthawk Fire Hawk (.45 Comp)
Amazing seeing these two together. I know Eli's first love is ACW but Id love to see him take the reigns over at WC
ACW is my first love, yes.
Amazing team up, I miss the Wilson combat videos with him and Bill. Keep the content going!
I also miss the Gun Guys episodes, which is why I decided I had to make my own!
Look forward to more! Treasure trove of information and history
Man that must have been awesome to hang with a legend.
One of, if not THE best weekend of my life.
Yes elitists enjoying acting like everyone else is the problem. sounds fun

He is the King of Storytelling.
Hope he’s doing well haven’t seen him or Bill Wilson in months
He's doing great!
Beautiful country up that way.
Insanely pretty!
Outstanding 👍🏻

I have two LE comp guns fron that era, a .38 Super stamped Wilson Combat and a two-tone .45 built by the late Charlie Mills. Old times.
13:05 Wowsers I haven't seen this beauty!!
They just recently released it!
Shot Mickey Fowler s comped 38 supers way back when, like shooting a 22.
Great video Eli.
Thank you very much!

Maybe one day!
Alchemy’s new gun line…LE comp
I wish...
Does a comp work as effectivly with .45 ACP as is the case with .38 Super, 9x23 and .357 SIG?
Cool info 👍
I love my Nineteen hundred and elevens.
Great series!
Sensei Ken 🤩
Guys a legend, you don't need red dots, lights, lasers, and all that crap. Great video.
I agree

Wilson threw Larry under the bus.
What happend?
Love to see it
So...Did I miss where he answered the questions about comped guns as fighting/street guns? Maybe I just didn't understand his answer.
You should have taken a red dot and a light. He would have had a stroke 😂
You mean the things Ken mentioned he owns, and Eli mentioned that he shot?
Ken smoked a stage with a Glock 19, fitted with a Radian Afterburner and an ACRO. HIS gun, not mine.
early ipsc was real guns with real stages .. i quit in 1990 as the b/s game guns and stages that were never going to be real ..
Yes I wish Uspsa would make the stages how they were in the 1980s in the hay days real props, doors and walls even cars on the stage, now it just seems there all about the money

Agree on the lights on guns. You kust show the baddies where you are....
“When was the last time you ever needed”…….. #NEVERFORGET
It’s almost like Ken openly discusses this in the video
