Rossi stainless snub nosed M88 38 special since 1994. Never found a good reason to change although I tried everything under the sun for a few years. Same gun, same holster same location. By now there is not even a split second of thinking "what or where am I carrying today". Muscle memory is on auto pilot.

I am between you two in age and I always like hearing y'all talk about your equipment and experiences (and your training tips, of course). My smallest carry guns are a commander size 1911 and a HK USPc, both in 9mm. Due to hip and back issues, I can't carry those pistols on my hip more than one day without significant pain. The past two years, I have reluctantly, yet, increasingly been using AIWB carry. After tens of 1,000s of rep's learning AIWB techniques, my discomfort has lessened. As always, thanks guys.

Wilson Combat holds a special place in my heart… In January 2012 me, my mom and my wife were out for a day of lunch and shopping and both were nice enough to accompany me to one of my dealers where I ordered a stainless Wilson Classic - picked it up 4 months later. My first high end 1911 was a Wilson ordered with mom - today in addition to that Classic, I have 2 CQB’s, 2 CQB Tactical LE’s and 2 EDC X9’s. Wilson Combat is such a fantastic company, wonderful people, phenomenal guns and these videos are icing on the cake! Love these vids!!!!

My everyday carry is a 5" steel 1911 in .45 acp. It is a Springfield Armory Custom Shop Professional that was made for my agency. I'm retired now but still carry this gun every day. Yes, a government model 1911 is heavy but it's also slim. I use a very stiff gun belt from We The People and an IWB leather holster from Milt Sparks at about 3:30. I use Wilson Combat 8 round magazines. One in the pipe and an extra mag gives me 17 rounds of .45 acp. I use Golden Sabers or Hydro Shock or whatever duty ammo I have on hand. This is the most comfortable rig for me. Thanks for producing these videos! I love learning the habits of legends in the industry. I would love to own that pistol Bill is currently carrying but I just plain can't justify the cost when I already own this Springfield that has proven to be the best handgun I've ever had the privilege of carrying. Its a smooth, tight, reliable, tack driving powerhouse. Maybe I'll come across a clean used Wilson one day. I'd love to own one his masterpieces.

Great guys here and love the civil and respectful comments without a bunch of bad language. I wish I could afford one of these guns but many of us just can’t afford a $2500+ gun. They are a piece of art however. Maybe one day. For now I’m sticking with the 365 because it allows me to pocket carry it in those places I can’t get by with a larger gun. It fits me well and it shoot better with it than anything short of a 1911. Thanks for the video. Love the fact that you are still in the game even though you both could rest on your laurels

My EDC for 20+ yrs was some form of Colt .45, Combat Elite at first, then a 1991-a1. Decided about 5 yrs ago to go a different route, so my EDC today is a Sig p229 Scorpion Elite .40. Absolutely love it. I've always admired Wilson's quality over the years from what I've shot or held; can't really tell why I've never bought or carried one.

Great video you guys. You laid it out in simple terms for a guy that has been carrying daily since the mid1980s, and I completely agree with your assessment. I carried all kinds of guns in the beginning from a full size 1911 down to a S&W 5 shot double action only 357 mag. I wasn't comfortable with the thought of shot placement with the little but powerful revolver and although very proficient with the 1911 it was too damn heavy for EDC. I finally settled on an aluminum frame Commander in 45 ACP about 15 or 20 years ago and I doubt I'll ever change. I own a S&W 1911sc and a Dan Wesson Guardian and they both function flawlessly. Don't be offended Bill, I own one of your guns as well and love it. I've also taken classes from Massad.

Last pistol I bought before leaving Idaho, same pistol Bill Wilson showed. I sent it back to Wilson to change the sights, dumped the fiber optic for one of his big orange night sight front and had an adjustable rear on the back ( was the combo the shop suggested) and I have no worries. The pinky extensions are a must for my size hand and the holster is the Plain-Jane version Mr. Wilson showed. Outstanding combo In the 10 round, have to state I live in now, this gets it done 8/10 hours a day. Gonna have to pass on that odd bullet but I respect highly your pick. Had to go with Mr. Hackathorn’s call on ammo, 135 HP. Thanks gentleman for a great video.

I have gone from a Glock 19 to my relatively new Wilson Combat SFX9 3.25 INCH with no rail. I carry it in a Milt Sparks IWB leather holster. My biggest concern when carrying a 1911 platform has always been the safety, and the chance it may disengage at the wrong time. The SFX9 has a crisp safety that has a crisp engage and disengage, which gives me the confidence at all times. I carry 124 grn HST in mine.

About 45 years ago, I shot in the I.P.S.C. national championship match and as a custom gun builder just getting started in the business. I gave away a free Chanpionship custom gun package. Worth about $1000 at the time. As luck would have it, Mr. Ken Hackathorn, picked up the prize package after asking Ross Seyfried if my work was any good, and when Ross told him I was a good pistolsmith, Ken picked up my prize off of the table and later sent me a new Colt 1911 to have me do my work on for him. From what Ken told me, that 1911 45 was his carry and match gun for many years as it was both accurate and reliable at the same time. Thanks to Ken's review on that gun in a gun mag a few months later, my pistolsmithing business told off like crazy and I was back logged on work for years. Now being 75 years old, I am retired and Fishter Custom Firearms is closed. Thaks to Kens review I had over 30 years of gunsmithing business to keep me well feed. Thanks again Ken. Yours Truly, Don Fisher

I enjoyed that. I guess what surprised me the most was the frequency of changes with each of you with regards to your primary carry. I have the Experior, EDC X9, SFX9 and SFT9 I recently purchased to replace my Kimber Ultra CDP II .45 (maybe) that I have carried for the last 15 years since CCW's were first made available up in MO where I was at the time (now in AR overlooking the state line not far from you all). I have always had a lot of guns available to me as a Class 3 SOT but I never 'rotated' my primary carry which was this platform and what I learned to shoot well in the USMC circa early 80's before the 9mm was adopted. I love your guns and am proud to own them. Keep up the good work and GREAT video's!!

Good show as always. The only gun I would give up either my CZ 75D compact or RAMI for would be Bill Wilson’s EDC X9 compact. It is an absolute work of art. However, we’re getting out of dodge to a country with more sensible gun laws and so I’ll be selling my entire collection of handguns and long guns. And literally, aside from giving up the CZ’s, my biggest regret is NOT being able to get the X9. It’s amazing.

I regret having sold all of my guns. I just had to buy the good ones back at higher prices later, and some simply could not be replaced. If I had it to do over again, I'd find a trusted friend to keep them for me, just in case. As long as you have that lovely blue passport you can always come back to visit them.

I'm pretty new to this and really appreciating y'all's mature and expert perspectives. I bought a brand new Walther Q4 steel frame two months ago and the darn thing has rust in a few spots, as well as the grip screws😭

Well first of all I have never had a Wilson gun but if it wasn’t for you all I would have sold my edc. The p365xl I loved but the grip was just a little to slim to shoot repetitive every time. But after I purchased your grip module for the Xl I am in love again with my gun. Thank you so much for you ingenuity!!! When is the grip module for the 365 a macro coming to the shelves. I need it so bad just don’t tell my wife…. Haha!!

I find myself going down the same road as Bill. Don't have any hip problems to deal with but the larger guns always patterned and they could get uncomfortable sitting or in a vehicle. Now... I don't find myself or my budget in the Wilson Combat category... Yet... So I have found a subcompact, brand SA M2, in 45 with 9+1 and a backup full size mag of 13. I did though invest in a nice Kramer Leather holster. It fits my hand well, I shoot it regularly in matches and it can be concealed just about anywhere. Maybe for a retirement gift to myself I'll be able to step up to something in the Wilson Combat line that is comparable. Keep up the great videos!

Love your channel and videos, especially The Gun Guys. I'd be interested I'd seeing some videos about the development of the AR-15 over the decades into the modular system for defensive and combat shooting as well as its development as a hunting rifle up to the 300 Hamr. Bill's hunting experiences with alternate AR cartridges and Ken's teaching experience and viewpoint during the MP-5 to M-4 transition would be an interesting bit of history to record. It's come along way since I packed an M16A1 eons ago as a Marine. I think You both would have valuable insights on its evolution and development.

Another great video from two legends! Curious to see a video of how you two carry. I know you mentioned how you carry, but it'd be great to see how you do it. More specifically because you both don't carry with a strong cant, I'm wondering about concealment or if you think that even matters. Great channel and I appreciate all of the knowledge from you two and from Mas!

That was interesting and I appreciate the remarks about the holsters and particularly the ammo. So many choices in self defense ammo now. Lots of advertising on holsters. One of the key points was to carry a pistol one shoots well, which implies is fun to shoot. Revolvers are the same way. So many J frames, but they don't pass the shoots well (15 yards) test nor fun to shoot. Revolvers start getting fun with the Model 19 carry comp K frame, a great every day sidearm for self defense in revolvers. The same water line for slide actions exists where the Kahr P9 Covert is above water and Kimber Micro 9 below water. Shoot with a club or buddies to try their sidearms. Military, police, and competition pistols are not every day carry for self defense.

My competition gun is a .45ACP WC CA Protector. It is a PHENOMENAL pistol (especially after escaping California and upgrading it with Bullet Proof parts)...but it's a bit big and heavy for EDC. That role is fulfilled with my WC 4" EDC X9 9mm or my Ed Brown Kobra Carry in .45ACP.

I went to a sig p238 with underwood extreme penatrators several years ago. During the Summer, in the Texas heat, I am usually wearing gym shorts after work, so pocket carrying a lighter platform provided more comfort. I found myself carrying more often, so I decided to use it year round.

The Hornady plant is down the road from me in Grand Island Nebraska. I make frequent trips there cause when I do the tour, which never gets old, I get a free box of ammo of my choice. I also purchase ammo there at a great price. I want to move in across the street. They are great people.

I have one of the early EDC9's. I really need to use and carry it more often, however as they discuss in the video other guns make it into the rotation. Now with cooler weather, I'm leaning to the full size 1911's.

Square trigger guards have always been indicative of up to date modern and futuristic design aesthetics. They look very distinct and state of the art. JEM and Infinity frames accentuate this perfectly. An all stainless or hard chrome 4" commander 1911 with a melt job, contour /bobtail, bull barrel and short curved trigger in .45 is something I've been meaning to add to my collection. Would probably even take priority over my current daily P365XL. Nothing feels as good in the hand as a 1911.

Great video, guys ! A possible subject for a future video could be addressing the possibility of the danger of ricocheting projectiles from steel targets at close range. Considering the amount of new gun owners and the amount of ( hopefully ) training involved in getting proficient, this might be an interesting subject.
