Was touch by the understanding that “perfect” is completion of ordinances. I always felt from my temple experience that Christ could not include himself with his Father because he had not completed all the ordinances but to the Nephites He could now speak messianic ally and include himself because He completed the path that we are all to follow if we have eyes to see….
Thought it would be a wonderful world if we addressed each other with Shalom intending that we hope you have ascended to the fullness of the priesthood or completion. You know a prosperous life back in the presence of Father.
Best show you’ve done. He has a second book-show 2?!

I hope you do as well! Hey what are your thoughts on 1 Nephi 16 1-8 being a reference to the marriage ordinance in the temple? 1 Nephi 15 ends with Nephi explaining the Tree of Life vision aka the temple, to Laman and Lemuel, and the ch. 16 opens with him chastising his brothers and asking them to walk uprightly before the Lord and to follow the path of righteousness, and then vs.7 explains who all got married, and then vs. 8 is Lehi fulfilling all the commandments of the Lord. I may be reaching, but I do find it interesting.

I would read the stuff I cite by Mowinckel (all the liturgical significance of the Psalms - it is ALL 1st Temple stuff), Heiser (if you are into Enoch and what's going on there), Eaton's stuff on the Festal Drama, and his kingship stuff, LeGrand Baker - get his book - it is at Deseret Book and I link to a free PDF he has made available, Ricks' stuff in Temples of the Ancient World, and Eliade. Also the stuff I write on the Cosmic Myth. Oh, and read Frankfort's book Kingship and the Gods. These are good starters. The journey is fun. And it is really relevant, depending on how it is presented.

    1:56:00 12 BEATITUDES
3 more beatitudes in the JST before the 9:
    Matthew 6:2
And he opened his mouth, and
    taught them saying,
BLESSED are they who shall believe
on me; and again, more BLESSED are
they who shall believe on your words,
when ye shall testify that ye have seen
    me and that I am.
Yea, BLESSED are they who shall be-
lieve on your words, and come down
into the depth of humility, and be bap-
tized in my name; for they shall be vis-
ited with fire and the Holy Ghost, and
shall receive a remission of their sins.
Creative minds may see the same stars and create different constellations.
There is more than one way to connect the dots.
The important thing is to not get lost.
Thanks for sharing some interesting observations
    worth contemplating.

The future in this verb allows for it to be exactly that. Of course there is nuance here as well. The future indicative can also be read as an imperative in some cases and so this isn’t settled. But I read this as a future and grammatically I (Mike) am on good ground here.

Chris I can't wait till we get to Deuteronomy. What it reveals is mindblowing, especially in light of the reforms that both Nephi and Lehi are opposing. You might want to go back and listen to our podcast that we did on 1 Nephi 1-7, episode 30. You will want to start around minute 7. The scholarship on Deuteronomy is mind blowing and is nailed by Joseph Smith's Book of Mormon translation. There was a massive religious fight in 640 BC that was going on and the textualization of Deuteronomy was the result. So reading this text using the Book of Mormon as a hermeneutical lens is vital to seeing what is going on here. Levinson has a great book on this as well as Moshe Weinfeld. I would highly recommend these books.
