He and Vanessa have known each other for 25 years. They were together for about 14 years, never married. They share the children. We all know they parted, but it was in 2010. They stayed together for the children, but not as a couple. He is fully bi-lingual but is always shy in interviews, french or english. He also says his kids laugh at him and they all tease each other. He speaks both at home too. He also stutters in english.

Johnny Depp is very humble and struggles with being famous. You can see it in interviews. He is being modest and never wants to come across as superior or prideful. He is a lovely human being.

I think he has the same problem we all have when speaking a foreign language. It's the vocabulary! In interviews especially, he chooses his words carefully in english. Imagine trying to remember the words in french, all the while english words are floating around his head. He understands really well. Accent is also on point. :-)

He actually is a very careful speaker, whether he is speaking English or French. He speaks slowly and considers his words quite carefully (with a very broad vocabulary). Mr. Depp is rather shy and does have a bit of confidence issue. He is also from Kentucky and Southerners generally do speak more slowly and with a more laid back cadence then other Americans.

Hello, really interesting video. Thank you! I just want to add that Johnny Depp is known for having a very good ear. I think that is a good part of why you don't hear an American accent in his French. As you know, that is quite unusual for an adult learning a second language.

You are a lovely, happy person, however everyone always comments on how English speakers must have an excellent French accent and are praised when they loose their own accent, but French speakers never speak English with an excellent accent nor are they expected to loose their own. This is why English speakers are not confident with languages for fear of being criticised rather than encouraged.
yes and no, it’s very easy to say something completely different if your accent is off in French whereas in English it is far more distinct, but I hear what you’re saying, as definitely there is the expectation! I actually know two French brothers who are both fluent in English, and one has the typical French accent the other is determined to prove that you can have a good English accent and honestly he sounds English but this is very rare!
@@serinadelmar6012 I disagree, people constantly say something completely different in English, but we are too polite to be rude about it. The French are not that way. I grew up with a mother who speaks 5 languages and 2 dialects, who constantly criticises my pronunciation, yet speaks English with a Dutch accent. Nobody says she has to loose it. I felt so criticises as a child that I preferred not to learn another language. But don't worry, just you all continue as you are. Maybe one day you'll recognise the damage you do by being so clever.

Most French are like this when it comes to English. Knows the basic and can understand a little.
My French friend told me "I wek up at 5 hayham" instead of "I woke up at 5 am" lol its very cute though
