It seems to be a mystery to me that everytime I buy shrimp for my aquarium a new snail pops up on my tank. They could be hiding on the free hornwort that came with the shrimp. That is what I call "stealth mode".

We are now emotionally attached. If either Alfred or Sven pass you will need to replace with a matching animal or we will react like a grade schooler losing their first pet. This could cause irreparable damage to dozens.....no pressure or anything. Gonna name the ramshorn?

I’ve never seen or heard of Java moss (or any moss, except for Plagiomnium insigne) producing rhizoids that aren’t attached to anything though!

I'm thinking of starting an enclosed ecosphere of my own after watching this video 😍 I have a few questions though. First timer here...
    1) What do shrimps eat? And how often should you feed them?
    2) Do you need to cycle the water first like how you do with fish? Put declorinated water etc.
    3) Should the jar be closed FOREVER? Cuz you mentioned that the universe forbids it to be opened
    4) How often should you change the water?
Tq!! Sorry for asking too much. I just wanna make sure I provide a healthy environment for my shrimp later ♥️

Sven was probably resting because she was already starting to moult! Moulting takes a lot of energy.
If you had let the pearl weed carpet before submerging the plants, they would be healthier and stay carpeting once you close the ecosphere. This also reduces the risk of algae blooms because if the carpet is established, there wouldn't be too many free nutrients for algae to grow.

You will see a yellowish/whitish area on their back called "the saddle". That is the shrimp making eggs internally. When the female molts, males will search her out and mate with her. The eggs will then move to the belly/underside. At this point the shrimp is said to be "berried". She will carry and fan the eggs which eventually get black spots which are the eyes of the baby shrimp and let you know it won't be long til they hatch.

Hey man do you recommend any good books on keeping aquatic plants? Its my first time using live plants in my aquarium and I love learning about them. Most of the knowledge I've gained so far has been from RUclips so I'm looking for some good text now

So I saw this and the thought you can keep the floters by simply putting a circle light to surround the bowl. Lights at top and on the side.

Last night i couldn't sleep so i went into my spare bedroom where my 25 gallon tank is and turned the light on. Sleep deprivation was really kicking in and i had a stupid idea "lets stick my hand in the water" my fish (2 female gouramis and 5 guppie) kinda just stared at my hand like "what the hell is this.." and then my guppies proceeded to peck at my fingers. Eating the dead skin. I was not expecting that I'll tell you that much. So i sat there alone with my hand in the tank until my guppies had their fill. Moral of the story: get some sleep guys.
