I’ve been listening to your podcast since 2023 and find it very interesting and informative, especially with the input from your many guest’s sharing their expertise. I live in Manila. Many here support Ukraine. A friend of mine lives beside the Russian embassy located in one of the gated communities. Around 2022 the embassy burned down. Funny thing was the Russian staff refused entry to the local fire brigade. So the fire fighters had to try to put out the flames from the roofs of the neighbors. And the Russians were drunk and seated on the sidewalk gutter. We heard rumors that they burned their own embassy.

This fiction can easily be disproved. Photos in news articles of the fire , show firefighters in the street outside the embassy directing water at the second story fire: there are no civilians or Russian embassy workers present, just fireman. Furthermore, the embassy adjoins other buildings meaning there is no side access. In order to fight the second story fire, some firefighters had to access a nearby flat roof so they could help direct water at the flames. This also is shown in the news article photos.

Pathetic lies that someone already disproved, not surprising though since the entire narrative of the Ukrobots revolves about manipulating and lying on everything be it numbers (casualties, casualty ratios..), their mobilisation process (The fact that they have made well over 8 mobilisations yet are still critically low on men and that we can easily find videos of young Ukrainians running away from enlistment officers) or even something as simple as the ideology of their own government and "elite" brigades (otherwise they would not have the support of the Western European leftist bots)...

interesting from Charles Michel to talk about investing in war effort, when Belgium is sitting on one of the lowest spending of all NATO members with only 1,13% .. Luxemburg being worst. This is 6B€, of which 4 are going on the next years to 34 expensive F35. It would be interesting for The Telegraph to investigate a bit more on the strategic cost of having smaller nations in Europe, ie Belgium, Portugal, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Romania, Finland, etc buying the most expensive US planes, and callign for more european independance. They are so many european alternatives. What a disaster for the european military industry !

Their support has been so pathetic that the UK gave up Belgium giving promised artillery systems and literally bought + sent them to 🇺🇦. But from what I understand, this in large part down to political divide similar to the one in the US. The population is divided into two camps that hate one another and makes passing anything incredibly difficult.

Well Luxembourg don't have a army and don't really have any territory to do any proper exercise. With a population of 640,064 organizing a army is not really a point at all. Almost all NATO countries are in direction to reach the 2% or go above it. Personally i would like the Norwegian army to use the swedish Gripen jets, rather then F-35s because of price, ease of maintenance and proximity to production.

    • @arnovriends5873
      @arnovriends5873 Месяц назад

Luxembourg does have an army, it even used to have a brigade of which a reinforced company fought in Korea, it also has the highest GDP(per person) in the world. On average 1% of the population under arms is certainly achievable, if so inclined, which would equate 6400 personnel.Half of the NATO countries are below the 2% mark, Armies don't fly jets and Norway is filthy rich and can easily afford their F-35A's, it's the Swedes that should up their production of Gripens and expand their Airforce up to 120 E's and F's and donate their C's and some D's to the Baltic states.Other NATO states and/or the EU should compensate the Swedes for that. If not donate them to the Ukrainians.@@kristiansandsmark2048

Hola from Costa Rica. I almost slavishly follow your podcast which is the most in-depth and varied reporting that I am able to find. I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Nichols. Since 2014, the "western" response to Russian aggression seems to have been to surrender in advance. Every initiative, although supportive of Ukraine, has been too little and way too late. If the trend continues, or even stalls due to the USA losing its collective sanity and re-electing Trump, Putin has no incentive to stop his attempt to reconstitute the Soviet Union. Russia, a country that is nothing more than a mafia run petrol station, only seeks to steal from others what it cannot produce itself. A much more aggressive policy is needed including NATO involvement.

Yes, it's 'Si vis pacem, para bellum'. The only European country taking the threat seriously is Poland; its defence spending has grown from 2 per cent in 2019 to 3.1 per cent today, though some news reports claim 3.9 to 4.1 per cent. Of course, a boost today will not increase capabilities tomorrow, but Poland is on the right track. Nato's two per cent was based on Russia maintaining the status quo of 15 years ago. That's no longer relevant.
A week ago Polish president Andrzej Duda called on Nato members to raise defence spending to 3 per cent of GDP.
The problem is Nato has sponger members like Canada that spends 1.38 per cent. The Washington Post, quoting leaked documents, reported last year that Trudeau had told Nato allies _Canada would _*_never meet_*_ the two per cent target_ . This is not a recent phenomenon. It's not even a post-Cold War one. Canada was at less than 2 per cent in 1973. It blipped above 2 per cent during the period of '83 to '87 and fell continuously since then.
Nato's internal threat isn't Trump, its leaders like Canada's Trudeau, Germany's Scholz, Spain's Sanchez, Denmark's Frederiksen, et al. The reason for the finger pointing at Trump is because much of Europe doesn't want to spend the funds. Has Germany resolved its defence procurement 'problems'? No. Why not? Because the 'problems' allow an excuse for failing to make the investment. Berlin announces it will increase spending - 100 billion euros supplemental funds - but then doesn't spend them. It's a ruse, a performance for optics.

Churchill's speech is always put forward in situations like this. One needs to follow this by saying: 1, the UK was sufficiently on its knees for Hitler to step back on trying to take the land which would have caused many problems because of UK's island geography. That was actually a miscalculation as the allied forces used it as a stepping stone for the eventual invasion.2: in talks Curchill was always the underlying partnet, not quite the powerful leader people made him look like. Both Roosevelt and Stalin determined the outcome. The overwhelming force of the Russian eastern front army eventually broke Hitler's back. If not the western allies would have been defeated.
So, Churchill was the right moral leader, albeit a weak one at the time. After the war they couldnt wait to kick him out of office.
Everybody only remembers the war speech. That is how shallow people think.
And now those same shallow people pose that Putin=Hitler. Mindbogglingly idiotic..Useful idiots in a powerplay i guess. Wake up, people!

He needs to be brought back into the government and made First Lord of the Admiralty, or whatever is the equivalent these days. The home fleet needs to be based in Scapa Flow as soon as possible. Only after so many years of communism they found it hard to adjust. Oiligads practicly stole the countries assets and created so much unemployment.
This enabled years later Putin to take such a hold. From the onset he followed his plan to reverse the path to Glasnost. His model was Stalin and his aim to regain the Soviet regions. He wrote about it in 2021 and Kremlin Rhetorik currently reveales his true intentions.

The Russian side has information that France is preparing a military contingent of 2,000 troops to be sent to Ukraine, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin said.
"The current leadership of the country (France - TASS) does not care about the deaths of ordinary French people or about the concerns of the generals. According to information coming to the Russian SVR, a contingent to be sent to Ukraine is already being prepared. Initially, it will include around 2,000 troops," he said.
According to the Russian foreign intelligence chief, the French military "fears that such a large military unit cannot be transferred and stationed in Ukraine unnoticed."
"It will thus become a legitimate priority target for attacks by the Russian armed forces. This means that it will suffer the fate of all the French who have ever come to the Russian world with a sword," he stressed.
After a conference on Ukraine in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron did not unequivocally rule out potential sending Western land troops to the zone of the special military operation in Ukraine. He also vowed that Western states would "do what is needed" to prevent Russia’s victory in this conflict.

On the evening of March 18, the MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance UAV of the US Air Force, which operated almost on a daily basis near the Russian Kaliningrad region, lost contact and control from the ground in Polish airspace. As a result, the aircraft crashed.
According to the Brigadier General Ireneusz Nowak, inspector in the Polish Air Force, the UAV crashed during a training flight. The UAV took off from a military base in Romania and was supposed to land at the Polish Miroslavets airfield.
According to Novak, the US military in Romania lost control of the MQ9 Reaper around 18:00 local time. After that, they tried to transfer control to the Polish side, but they failed to do so. The area of his possible crash was cordoned off, there were no civilians there. As a result, the drone was found nine minutes after the fall, Novak said.
He added that the investigation of the incident will be handled by the United States with the help of Polish specialists.
In the afternoon of March 18th, there were two two MQ-9 Reaper drones operating in the airspace of Poland, WILEY22 and WILEY33. They both took off from a military airfield in Romania.
During the day, both UAVs faced technical malfunctions. According to the official claims, the crashed drone was WILEY22. There is still no information about the fate of the second MQ-9 with the call sign WILEY33.
Early in the morning on March 19, the Poles closed the airfield from flights and the Polish military department has also suspended MQ-9 flights.
Western media blamed the Russian military for the incident; but the Polish Ministry of Defense denied speculation in the media about the involvement of Russian electronic warfare systems in the incident.

‘T-100’ Incoming: Russia Confirmed to Be Preparing a New Tank Class For Production
Much like the next generation of the T-72 was named T-90, so too is it highly likely, and in keeping with prevailing trends in Russia’s naming of its main battle tanks for a new T-80 variant to be re-named. The designation ’T-100’ or ‘can be speculated and would make sense chronologically, and given the apparent preference for names which carry dramatic weight. Unlike the T-90, which directly succeeded the T-72 in production, and for a brief period was even produced alongside it, there will be an approximately 30 year gap between production of the last Soviet designed T-80s and the new production model. This means that the difference in capabilities is expected to be much greater than that between the last T-72B models and the baseline early T-90. It remains uncertain to what extent the T-80’s design will be modernised, however, an in particular if and to what extent elements from the ‘Black Eagle’ design will be incorporated.
The most extreme case for the new T-80 program could see an effort funded to develop a next generation tank based on the design, which could be more promising than the entirely clean sheet T-14 design produced by Uralvagonzavod. Extreme delays to the T-14’s development mean a competing tank could provide a valuable hedge against the T-14 program, while placing increased pressure on Uralvagonzavod to see it through. Nevertheless, with Uralvagonzavod now owning Omsktransmash, and thus having a total monopoly on Russian tank production, options to increase efficiency through competition remain limited. It is highly likely that the new T-80, likely with a new designation, will produce Russia’s most capable tank other than possibly the T-14 itself.
