I lucked out. I brought a used typhon 1/8 car and it came with the S2200 and 2 packs. G2 is a game changer. Just need a few more batteries for my SWV2. Great video
That Spektrum S2200 G2 Smart Charger is making me want to get back into trying lipos again. The quality of the lipos in the beginning turned me off electric RC. Thanks for the honest review.
These chargers are great and been using for years❤️The S2100 can also be updated for those that have the older single or dual G1 chargers to run their software👍Also the advantage of smart battery’s and the charger is you can set the battery to discharge to storage voltage if you forget to use em❤️Best charger for the money
Great review Big B. Looks to be a nice charger if you have loads of Spektrum packs and if you're running boats as often as you do I can see it being really useful. But at £210 ($260) it's way too expensive for me! I'll happily stick to my S2100 for my Spektrum packs and my Sky RC D100 V2 (awesome charger) for everything else 😉
No I was not fast charging, I've narrowed it down to wet batteries, I mostly run boats and noticed water reeks havoc on the inner battery connection...
@@IRONCLADRC I can understand that 👍 I just got a heli and ordered a g2 battery not thinking of the lack of balance plug. I guess I need a charger now?🤷 most my batteries are Zeee,Hoovo and ovonic
I like the chargers, however I did not have good luck with the g2 batteries. Had a blow over on my first run using them, got water in the boat and the chips in both died within an hour.
Love the s2200, is there a way though to check the new G2 batteries that have NO balance wire? At the pond I have no way to know how much power is left, I do use 3.4 as my LVC, but try not to hit that level. Thanks Big B.
Ok so how many times did you have to "update" the software new out of the box before you could actually use it? I'm a 66 year old Luddite and bought 3 S155 chargers. Two of them went in the trash cause they always told me my balance lead was plugged in wrong when it wasn't. I haven't tried the third one yet but I'm sure that won't work either. I don't even know what a flash update is and it's not my job to. If they won't sell a product ready to use out of the box then they are not getting my $300!!
After my 3 month hospital stay last summer I need a lot of batteries. Have 4 4s remaining, 2 3s remaining, 2 2s remaining. All others were trashed. I can't afford spectrum $$$$. I'm looking for affordable batteries. Gens, Zeee etc. Heck. My zelos 36 is 2 6s ea run. What do you recommend? Thanks sir.
You can discharge it, but you'll need to storage charge it after it's discharged. I usually just storage charge mine, the charger automatically discharges the battery to storage charge which is 3.8v per cell
Specktrum G2 batteries automatically discharge to storage voltages after 3 days. This can be changed from 12 to 240 hours or turned off. They are great batteries IMHO
Store Li-Po packs at around 45 to 50% capacity. Big tip; don't charge packs days before you plan to use them. Li-Po packs don't like to be stored for more than a day at 100% capacity. If your plans change and you don't run the fully charged battery pack, immediately discharge it back to storage level. Additionally, If you want your cells to last a long time and aren't concerned with getting every single minute of run time - charge the packs to 90% capacity - not 100% and never discharge them bellow 10% remaining capacity. Follow these tips and your batteries will last much longer. Cheers!
I'm glad that Spektrum (and Traxxas) make dedicated chargers for their OEM battery packs. It makes the hobby much safer for newbies. Most experienced hobbyist, however, prefer having the freedom of buying whatever battery packs they want, and there are many lower priced chargers (and batteries) on the market that work equally well. Spektrum is a great option if you can afford it. Boat gang!
I havre to say spectrum has gone above and beyond in improving safety slightly with lipo charging… good job!

I'm new to RC and this charger sure is nice for me!
Good video! wanted to see how this charger worked with regular batteries too

Were you fast charging when you had your fire? I have 2 of those venom duo pros. Working over 3 yrs now

Yes, it will. Treat it like any other charger

YES There is spektrum SPMXBC100 for 49.99 and spektrum SPMXCA507 12.99

Nice review ! 👍
Speaking of this review, do you run 50c packs in your sonicwake 36 v1 and v2?
I've run 50c packs but I prefer 100c packs
@@IRONCLADRC thank you Big B I was just checking if it's possible

I've never done a software update. Stock out the box still I've got the s200 dual and the s1400 single

I think ZEE & HBR lipo are great budget battery's ovonic are pretty good too

Great informative video. What voltage should batteries be stored at. Thanks for the tips for us newbies
I use a 1c charge rate and store them at 3.7 - 3.8v per cell

Traxxas chargeurs are trash and overpriced. They wont last u like spektrum
WAY ABOVE MY PRICE RANGE. EVEN IF YOUR PRICE COULD BE IN CANADA. JUST THE PRICE OF THE BATTERYS ARE ALMOST TWICE THE PRICE. OH BUT I CAN DREAM.
My problem is, I buy once, and cry once.
