Win or lose, Oscar list of big name fights is just astonishing. Whitaker, Trinidad, Camacho, Gatti, Mosley, Chavez, Hopkins, Pacquiao, Vargas, Mayorga, Mayweather, Miguel Gonzalez, Hernandez.
Current top boxers probably will only get 4-5 big fights during their whole career due to ducking, different promoters, etc.

His corner even warned him to stop clownin around or he was gonna lose the fight but he wouldn't stop. Pernell chose to clown more than fight and it cost him the fight. Mind you it may have saved him from getting KO'd too so who knows.

I don't know how anyone can claim robbery over Oscar's well earned victory. Not only did he outwork Whitaker, he also frustrated him with his skills. Oscar was beating him to the punch in many of the exchanges while landing with more authority-- and he'd throw rapid fire flurries that put Whitaker on the defensive and out of position to counter. Simply put, Oscar prevented him from executing a winning gameplan.

What fight were these commentators watching? They were acting like Oscar was scoring every punch while he’s swinging at AIR! In one of the the middle rounds, Sweet Pea landed 7 out of 9 jabs, then landed a perfect straight left and the announcers said NOTHING!

These kinds of fights are why boxing as a sport is a problem. There’s really no clear winner here, despite what you’ll read in all the comments. With the judges being forced to JUDGE a winner for each round, we’re forced to accept an unsatisfying result. Judges should be able to score rounds as draws when there is no definitive winner. These kind of fights need to happen a second or third time until a definitive winner emerges. If after three fights there isn’t a definitive winner, we can all be happy we saw three great fights and move on.

Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns turned this run of the Mill weight division into the Glamour second only to and at times more interesting than the Heavyweight Division , Division . Not only did those 2 fighters uphold the welterweight Title , but helped shine more light on the up n coming defenders , but as they got older their caused vacuum opened up opportunities for the likes of Donald Curry , Terry Norris and a host of others . During its initial glory era of the 80’s the Motor City Hit Man & Sugar Ray pulled other Champions of other weight divisions into spotlight Big Fights like Marvin Hagler n Roberto Duran. This fight here wouldn’t be nearly as big as it was w/o those 2 Champion Fighters and their camps of great people around them like Emanuel Steward and the one and only Angelo Dundee for starters and on both sides so many more. A salute to those 2 pioneers .!!!!!!!!

I got 114 to 113 for whitaker. It could be a draw if it wasn't for the knockdown. Close fight. A lot of show boating for whitaker. And i dont blame the judges why they have delahoya ahead of their scorecard. It's just that they saw oscar is more active although not landing punches. Mostly landed in the arm or missed. But it could go either way. But my score is 114 to 113 for pernell.
