Win or lose, Oscar list of big name fights is just astonishing. Whitaker, Trinidad, Camacho, Gatti, Mosley, Chavez, Hopkins, Pacquiao, Vargas, Mayorga, Mayweather, Miguel Gonzalez, Hernandez.
Current top boxers probably will only get 4-5 big fights during their whole career due to ducking, different promoters, etc.

These kinds of fights are why boxing as a sport is a problem. There’s really no clear winner here, despite what you’ll read in all the comments. With the judges being forced to JUDGE a winner for each round, we’re forced to accept an unsatisfying result. Judges should be able to score rounds as draws when there is no definitive winner. These kind of fights need to happen a second or third time until a definitive winner emerges. If after three fights there isn’t a definitive winner, we can all be happy we saw three great fights and move on.

Whittaker was the king of defense. Conversely the king of no power.
Tho it did pave the way for other boxers to incorporate more power & offense of that style bc as we see Significant shots and damage are most important in boxing/ scoring. For that reason Oscar was the clear winner to me.
Tho Whittaker did what he did best but light jabs and shots dont seal the deal. Its hard to rule a victory when you dont do damage, it will always be questionable.
Same issue vs Chavez, albeit i do think pernell outboxed chavez in a way but chavez still dealt the most damage and significant shots.
I truly believe Chavez & Mexican boxers where the reason Americans perfected their Defensive technical style & honed it with more power & incredibly timed offense

I don't know how anyone can claim robbery over Oscar's well earned victory. Not only did he outwork Whitaker, he also frustrated him with his skills. Oscar was beating him to the punch in many of the exchanges while landing with more authority-- and he'd throw rapid fire flurries that put Whitaker on the defensive and out of position to counter. Simply put, Oscar prevented him from executing a winning gameplan.
