Barrera was at his tiptop prime at this point of his career. Coming into this, he defeated Johnny Tapia, Erik Morales, and Naseem Hamed. All of them were the top dogs of the Division. The last two mentioned were undefeated and Barrera dented their records. Barrera at this point was the King of the Division. Pacquiao was unknown at this time. But on this night a superstar was born.

Do y'all realize how crazy PACQUIAO is to do this? Man really made his name knowm in his opponent's territory. He humiliated Barrera not just by outboxing him, but also by forcing Barrera's corner to stop the fight, IN FRONT OF THEIR OWN CROWD. How hard this must be for them. Legend.
