Julio suffered from weak scar tissue later in his career, also not to mention his age that caught up to him with all his 89 undefeated fights. This man will never be forgotten. The real GOAT.

7:36-7:38 oscars reflexes , speed and explosiveness were no joke . That jump back and dash forward for a strike was beautiful.
Exactly, that really bamboozled me how he managed to pull that shot off, and he did that again close to the end, but connected with the body shot, then hooks, then started the vicious combos that sealed the fight, shown at slow motion near the end.
The exact same move started the end of the fight.
Chavez was old already. A prime Chavez would have easily KO'd Oscar...

I remember seeing this fight on PPV at the D.C. Armory. Immediately after the fight a group of hispanic men (around 40) were gathered outside in the parking lot. Suddenly it turned into a tornado of men brawling. Apparently over the fight

ESPN had both of them some years ago and they admitted that Chávez had that cut during the training, Oscar did said that he knew but Chávez didn’t cancel or said anything about postponing the fight
Without the cut, I believe Chavez would have eventually worn Oscar down, much like he did to Meldrick Taylor.

I remember watching this fight live at my best friend’s Salvadoran house. As only Mex-Ame, I was only one rooting for Chavez, lol. Oscar was so light on his toes, had great defense, great chin, lightning fast left jab and hook. He had beautiful technique and balance. He was boxings PPV king for many years. People try disrespecting him nowadays but, Put some respect on his name forever…he was a beast.

@@noesantillan975 I think it's because they didn't keep in shape. Oscar went fully into promoting and he also had to go into rehab. As for Chavez, he had a lot of financial and domestic burdens and that's when he lost the edge in his training.
