One of the BEST videos on YT on this repair - thanks for taking the time to go into detail, change the camera view, etc. The crankcase hose tip by itself is worth the money! Send you $20, but you probably saved me 100 times that!
Great video Roger. I’ve been watching your videos for many years now. Got my e46 330ci ZHP in 2012, now with 124K miles and added a 2017 X3 xDrive 35i now with 33K miles earlier this year so all this N55 DIY content will come in handy as well eventually. I’ve noticed there’s not a ton of stuff for N55 like the mountains of content on m54s out there so it’s all appreciated.
Good Job, Roger!!!! I enjoyed your video a whole lot, needed to changed my plugs on my BMW x6 for the first time. I am so confident that, after watching your video, I will do a good job too. Thank you.
Great video, I don't think I could have done it without your help. A couple of comments from my experience. Like you said, removing the filter box definitely made the access easier, but I found removing it first also make removing the air box easier. I'm not a familiar with the mass air flow connector as you and one of big problems I have working on the X5 is not being able see a connector to figure out how to remove it. Also, I removed the air box in two pieces. To try to save that delicate part it made it easier because I had to pull pretty hard on the air box to get it out.
Excellent Excellent Excellent video, it really got into the meats and potatoes of gaining access to those little darling spark plugs--i did mine yesterday but wish i had seen your video as i did not remove the top portion over spark plugs 5 and 6--i went in underneath the plastic shelf for the air filters--it would have made my job extreeeeemly easier had i removed that shelf----at 130K miles I'm not sure if the spark plugs had ever been replaced at all before in my vehicle BMW X5 2016. Now I'm looking fwd to the next time i change out the spark plugs. and yes, I broke that corrugated plastic brittle part,--it didn't separate but under compression it closed the opening-- I'll have to order another one but until then I'll use it--(it didn't set a code as i have driven the car over 100 miles and counting)--also I'll get the wobble extensions and battery powered rachet you used for other DIY things on this vehicle and around the house--saved at least 600$$ by doing this myself--ill subscribe to your videos--thank you so much!!!!!!
Great video just did this myself. Followed every direction. Every sensor and wire is connected snugly, plugs are gapped and torqued to spec. I started the car and was happy everything was okay until I started driving and I got a check engine light along with a drivetrain malfunction “maximum drivetrain output not available” along with shudders between 1500-2k rpm’s and it idles at 1k now. Going to tripple check my work in the morning and scan the codes but if you know anything that can help me I’d love to hear it
Hi David, The spark plugs do not have a separate reset. The replacement is associated with a specific number of oil changes and the information is stored in the key for the dealer to read. Nothing you can see with out having the key information read out. But it will reset with the oil service reset. Micro filters and engine air filter works the same.
Hi Bud, you are BMW master mechanic with lot of experience and knowledge. Question for you buddy. I have BMW X5 2012 E70, few days ago I disconnected battery to work on alternator. Once, I replaced bad Alternator and re-connected battery but somehow it fried my FRM3 module. Now, I have to replace my FRM3 module from dealership... what will be the cause that fried my FRM3 module when I re-connected battery. as, far I know my battery had no issues or any error codes etc.?
Hello Tahir, This is in my opinion is an issue directly with the FRM module. You did the process correctly. Sometimes they fail when the vehicle is scanned as well. Known issue that BMW extended the warranty a bit but not by much.
Thanks for the video. Changed my Coil (Bosch) and spark plugs (ngk). Not too bad compared to the HPFP replacement. Car started up but still rough idle. and Still have the same: 1. Engine malfunction reduce power 2. Chassis stabilization 3. DBC malfunction Heading to Auto Zone to check OBD codes. Do I need to do a reset so the Alerts disappear?
Sorry to hear you still have an issue. The car should run normal if that was the issue. Maybe an air leak? Best to check tue codes clear them and then rescan to see what is current
It could of been the spark plugs or coil packs or even both but I think double platinum is what recommended on the n55 for the plugs..plugs could of been sparking at a higher voltage causing this issue??? Did you put the laser ird plugs?and hopefully you figured it out by now💀
Hellp, Glad to hear you where able to get the job done. It is not too bad if you take off the back covers but if it was your first time it can take a while to do it right.
I wish the camera work was better. You needed a second person to do that. I picked your video but got stuck in a lot of places. I couldn’t how you removed the stuff above coil 5. It was still the best video
Thanks Rick, Appreciated that. I don't really have a helper most days and the wife is NOT into anything car related LOL. You can tell I do all my own camera and editing but I do provide great info!
I started working on things I think I can handle. Spark plugs never were a challenge. I got it done. I got stuck on silly things. My favorite was the bracket that holds the hoses on the back of the engine by the o2 sensors. You take the two screws (I lost one) out and the clamp on the right side. What the heck. Well that took a lot of tugging and opened it by accident. That was it. All those other videos were still not as thorough as yours. Thank you. I ended up with one black screw though…lol. I may do it all over again
great video. thanks.

@@AskTheCarExperts any advice where to look ?
What did you find pls update . ?
@@mohammadhayatca3244 I used a cheap eBay HPFP which was a huge mistake. Only buy parts from Bosch or BMW. The DME will know! Still running rough.

Hello my friend, what is the best type of spark plug, NGK or Bosch?
I would say NGK
at what miles spark plugs are replaced ?
Every 4 years or 60000km whichever comes first.
I followed the video, it is still a 3 hour job, freaking difficult
