We are so fortunate to have a series that clearly made an effort to combine the respect of tradition with proper story development.. Round of applause for FX and #Shogun
The Japanese mindset of "do one thing but do it better than absolutely everybody else" really shines through in this show. You want authenticity? You bring in the perfectionists.
Very happy that Hiroyuki Sanada finally get the center stage of a major international show that his acting qualities deserve. I’d say he’s up there with Christoph Waltz, Javier Bardem, Aamir Khan etc as global juggernauts of actors
I really appreciate the effort the directors put to showcase japanese culture...because their culture makes a great deal of doing everything with perfection ❤
One of the best limited series ever!!! I just wish there was a way to make it a series just for its beauty and beautiful and heart wrenching storytelling!!!
Shogun might be the finest show on television. Engaging, well paced script. beautiful costumes and staging. Tasteful discretion when it comes to the more mature themes.
This show is amazing! Most series or movies take some time to really get into the plot and can sometimes lose you, but this one drew me in right away. The moment I was on the ship with Blackthorne feeling just as perilous as the crew to being terrified for my life when seeing the samurai. How well this show does to reenact a fictional rendition of a non-fictional series of events is amazing. A true underdog story of the historical Tokugawa Clan's rise to power and overthrow of the previous government.
Authenticity is most critical. This show was a wonder, exactly ad I had imagined it. Thanks Hiro, Anna and Cosmo, crew and cast for perfection. My Mariko is perfect. And this Anjin ensured she was able to visit, as the original pilot promised.
For not much action in a series you would expect to be action pact. This show is phenomenal! The build up of anticipation, the deception. They did a wonderful job on this mini series
I managed to binge all 6 currently released episodes in 2 days, it's that good. I really struggle to sit still, regardless of how interested I am so to be able to sit through all of them at once? What an absolutely phenomenal production!!!
that really sells the whole show...i mean when I was in japan and seeing the geisha's walking in their kimono..i was like that looks rough...get to see traditional japanese on screen...very awesome
I love watching Shogun, salute to all the cast especially Mariko Sama, admire her loyalty to Lord Toronaga, I realised how important a woman's contribution in every Man's battle. I always love Japan ❤❤waiting for episode 10
Great interview - and I hear more on the matter that officially there will be a season 2 to Shōgun. That is really exciting! What’s a great mini-series! I am still debating whether I prefer the original 1980’s Shōgun TV mini-series or what we have here. Both are wonderful in their own right !
This is why this show works so well even tho 90% of the scenes were nothing but heavy dialog The authenticity of it all carries so much weight and the show just entraps you in its world as if youre really there Even the subtle way Mariko and the Mama-san were having such an intense battle with the way they were placing their tea cups down
She is SHOCKINGLY beautiful. Appearing to wear very little makeup (though I'm sure she' using some). Damnit...why did they have to kill her off in the first season?! lol
As much as I can respect and admire the effort for details and authenticity 98% of viewers will neither notice nor know about this detail. They could come up with anything, the viewers would not know the difference
I have to reiterate that the creators of this remake of James Clavells: Shogun, chose to not have the women with blackened teeth. A custom practiced by Japanese women since the Heian period. They took liberty with this distinctive detail.
What’s crazy is even though I finished the show after binging it in two days, I still felt that feeling you get when you finishe a show with multiple seasons and tens of episodes per. I’m glad it only takes me watching some commentaries about the last episode to snap out of it
FX’s #Shōgun is now streaming on Hulu
❤
The attention to detail really sets this show apart from other period correct pieces.
Rome tv Series is as good or maybe a little better
And still ends it like soap opera …
The women not having blackened teeth waa a jarring inaccuracy. Japanese women formerly blackened their teeth.
@@LUIS-ox1bv not in this period specifically. Only the imperial court blackened their teeth
She is so elegant in the series and in real life too.
Winning in the gen lottery definitely makes life easier.
@@esmolol4091 she was still a great actor, not only her even the 'handmaidens' did reall well
The base thirst of the smooth-brained majority never ceases to amaze me. "WoW sHe So PrETtY".. seriously? That's your take?
@@Thenonsocial you prefer we woke?
@@svtinker I prefer what? Was that supposed to be a question? It's not even a sentence.
We are so fortunate to have a series that clearly made an effort to combine the respect of tradition with proper story development.. Round of applause for FX and #Shogun
Wow she is absolutely stunning
Yea but interestingly she’s not with Kimono
@@Aih1616he’s not in traditional dress I think it’s just a more casual interview. She wears traditional clothing in the show.
She is @@Aih1616
I was about to say the same thing.
Right? Absolutely ridiculous how gorgeous she is
The Japanese mindset of "do one thing but do it better than absolutely everybody else" really shines through in this show. You want authenticity? You bring in the perfectionists.
Just give this man all the Emmy's immediately.
I think this wish has come true
The effort made to focus on every detail is worth it. It's one of the best dramas I've seen in years. I'm so grateful they're so dedicated.
I've loved Sanada in every one of his roles. The man has a rare on screen presence I feel
Very happy that Hiroyuki Sanada finally get the center stage of a major international show that his acting qualities deserve. I’d say he’s up there with Christoph Waltz, Javier Bardem, Aamir Khan etc as global juggernauts of actors
Agreed 🎉
She is so beautiful, i love her smile
Shōgun has taken my interest to a place I never thought series-shows would ever do again
I really appreciate the effort the directors put to showcase japanese culture...because their culture makes a great deal of doing everything with perfection ❤
This show is amazing in every way! I find myself emotionally bound to these characters & the story it tells. Well done to everyone involved! 🏆
Give this lady all the awards please, she was just amazing
Masterpiece of a series 💯
How can a culture be, at the same time, so incredibly beautiful and also so violent and callous and indifferent about human life?
It's so incredibly beautiful! ❤
The incredible attention to detail was very well received and appreciated. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
She’s gorgeous and awesome at playing Mariko-sama!
One of the best limited series ever!!! I just wish there was a way to make it a series just for its beauty and beautiful and heart wrenching storytelling!!!
I love this series! Thank you for making this!
The attention to detail is so refreshing! Some movies don't give it their all nowadays. They took this seriously. I love it

Every attention to detail was noticed! Brilliantly done! I was 12 when the original came out but I don't remember much only that my Dad watched it.
They absolutely mastered the walking, this show brought that time period to life
I’ve been watching this on Hulu, I have one episode left. It’s really fantastic!

I love this show. They created such an immersive world. I've watched the entire series 3x!!!
Wow they filmed in Port Moody, BC. I watched the entire show in 1 day lol
Brilliant show ❤❤❤❤

Sanada's acting was amazing in that show.
This show is awesome
THE LOVE THIS SHOW
She is stunnig
1st movie i saw Sanada San is from Rush Hour 2 as Jackies Brother.. His Demeanor Sticks with me so i always recognize him on every movie he's in to.
She is SHOCKINGLY beautiful. Appearing to wear very little makeup (though I'm sure she' using some). Damnit...why did they have to kill her off in the first season?! lol
best show on tv right now

I know this maybe bs for you but it's important for SANADA
But when you do notice the details, it just makes the experience so much better

This reminds me of HBO's Rome :')
I love historical drama
Wonderful show
Took me a long time to sit in seiza wearing a Hakama. Respect ✊
great work
He's come a long way from the twilight samurai. It's good to see how far he's come.
She is incredibly beautiful. Wow.
I really hope there's a sequel or prequel
God, hearing Anna Sawai's speaking voice is staggering because I keep expecting to hear Mariko-sama. Such a talented actress.
Vancouver, this beautiful city on the northern coasts of the Kanto...
Jidaigeki is where the Star Wars characters of the Jedi is derived from
Got to watch this
Very befitting actor for Lord Toranaga
Best in Japan + incomparable Japan ❤
Anna Sawai is lovely and talented.

I watched the entire season in one night! It was amazing from start to finish!
It's one if the most beautiful shows I've ever watched. The original eas good, but this surpassed it by far. Hiroyuki was fantastic.
SHOGUN
Is the Truth!
Seriously who didn't fall in love with Anna after Shogun? For real she is beyond hot
Anna Sawai is Beautiful
Sanada has that Midas touch.
