Congrats to Team Shōgun and FX for conjuring one of the most landscape-turning, all-consuming (like landslide) phenomena for an adapted new series in recent memory.
This show is going to win some Emmy awards , because the detail of the show is so well done . If anybody is not watching Shōgun I don't know what are you doing rigth now ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ .
It was creeated to move away from mostly white casts, not to promote black casts. Hopefully it won’t backfire to prevent recognising different forms of diversity than purely certain numbers within one production.
This show is the perfect fusion of grand-scale Western big-budget filmmaking with the Japanese perfectionist dedication to fine detail. With the right staff, cast and resources, you get a legendary masterpiece.
The esthetic of the show is astounding. Everything from the sets to the costumes to the very way they walk & carry themselves all looks incredible intricate & period correct. Shōgun is setting a new bar in terms of quality storytelling.
That silk bald cap is so magical. You can feel its seamlessness when you think of Buntaro's close-up shots. He is always presented in tricky lightings like around candle lights and in that tea room misty day scene.
I have a impression that historical dramas in Japan these days have somehow modernized in a very wrong way. The way of samurai talking and their acting etc. Compared with the old days, recent ones are just too light samurai dramas. So I was very impressed that such neat drama were produced overseas. On the details I can see the Western sense though, but well balanced made for Japanese watchers and Western background watchers. One regret is that it may be difficult to produce a historical drama of this scale without foreign capital. I hope the Japanese medias, filmmakers will watch this programme and reflect on it.
This remnind me of how an American video game studio created Ghost of Tsushima, an action samurai game that was so impressive even Japanese game devs said that they wish they did it.
I think both the actors and the crew all leveled up after this show. Really amazing series. I hope more ppl watch this and it gets the recognition it deserves ❤
Hands down to makeup artists, hair, and the whole team of making these costumes for all cast and crew. They all look real, natural and authentic. I could tell they work so hard together. Best makeup of the year in tv series.
As a child I loved en enjoyed the first Shogun in the 80's, now years down the road of life.. Shogun is just a treat, so exciting to watch, finally in this era of degenation and transition a masterpiece of art for all to embrace and remember.
I wish there would be more shows like this, that feeling is just wow sometimes feels 1 may feel long or short I watch the first episode so fast but then it got into the show and to be honest it feel I was watching the tv for days.
i absolutely love how much love and care is going into showing us whats happening behind the scenes in this show. My life is film and movies and to have a grand amazing show like this, WITH all these features to watch is just amazing and makes me more excited for more then just the episodes airing every week. THANK YOU
This is what happens when you stay true to the source materials, it is like the book came to life. Fantastic job and the atmosphere is so vibrant and captivating!!!! Great show!!!❤
Loving the glimpse into the costumes & hairstyles 髪型 of Shogun! Those intricate details and meticulous craftsmanship ✨ are bringing 17th century Japan to life! Can't wait to see the final looks in action!
This film will definitely be nominated for an Emmy Award. “Shogun” is currently being distributed worldwide Achieved a record of 9 million views on Fulu in 6 days. It is number one of all time on Fulu. That's how much people all over the world sympathize with it. Comparable to Game of Thrones In fact, it can be said that it is a work that may even surpass it.
The artistry , the beauty and detail that went into this product is just a feast for the eyes. I’m sure it help everyone in their performance. This show is amazing, I just blown away. More please.
This series is simply fascinating and unique, it makes us want to watch and keep watching, looking forward to the next chapter. But it is incredible to be able to see the precious and artistic work done with deep devotion and commitment to what is perfect. Behind the cameras, there is a perfect and magnificent work of art....a masterpiece.
Many of us think that Fujiko is cute and hot !... It would have been better if the other female cast members had smiled more... They all seemed to be very wooden, and no personality, but Fujiko is a real scene stealer... !
@@richardruff8712 You don't seem to quite understand how acting works. Those were not the happiest times, saying that they don't have personalities just scream that you don't know much about japanese culture now or even back in that time period.
@@sheggy1986 Yes, I'm sure that you are correct... I was just attempting to make an apparent comparison between Fujiko, and all the other actors... I'm guessing that it was a serious time for all concerned, but, in this 2024 version, it just seems to appear that Fujiko has more of an outward personality, that we can appreciate...?
The visuals in terms of costume, hair and makeup in this show ar awesome and truly groundbreaking. I do hope it gains the awards recognition it deserves.
I find Lady Ochiba's voice somewhat disturbing, and not in a bad way. It's so intimidating when you hear her small giggles and slightly sharp feminine voice that can make Ishido shut his mouth.
This was actually the way women who were royalty would speak back in the day. The idea was that they were to present themselves as something like a living doll, minimal facial movements, expression of emotion, almost robotic. If you watch any of Kurosawa's films you will see this as well. Throne of Blood is one example, the primary character's wife hardly moves her lips and is like a ventriloquist's dummy. Very spooky the first time you see it.
It's funny because the actress Fumi Nikaido is famous for comedy (Fly me to Saitama, check out the trailer) and in real life is a committed vegetarian and animal rights advocate who is admired by many Japanese women.
If this show does not win all the Emmys we will riot! A show like no other, I've been watching TV series for over 35 years and this is one of the best ever. So sad we only got 1 year but this will forever go down as a masterpiece.
I was very fascinated by the hair styles in the show so it's very cool to see how they did it all, I didn't think about how much work went into this, bravo!
im waiting this show every week! for me who love all about japanese culture, this such a masterpiece of work! i love everything about it. For you, please watch this show, it will be worth of your time!
I haven't seen this much dedication and attention to detail since the production of the Lord of the Rings movies. And I think this show will remain a true classic for decades just like the LotR movies
Just think of how long it took the dress makers and tailors, silk weavers and all to create the incredible patterns back then! Thanks to all! (3 X Nippon style bows!)
If netflix hade made this, Toranaga wouldve been a fat white dude with red hair, beyonce wouldve played mariko, a chinese guy blackthorne and argentinian gauchos prepared the tea. thanks for that great and historically accurate show FX!
Creating such detailed looks for hundreds of people at a time is unbelievably impressive!

It won't due to DEI selection criteria, Emmys demand diversity representation in percentages of onscreen cast.
@@jbagger331thats bullshit.
@@ottenheimer8534 Ehhh, no, they wrote down the criteria for representation in order to be eligible to be nominated for an Emmy.

You can usually tell how serious a production is by the costume design and wow they really nailed it here. Everything looks amazing.
I love how much of the show relied on practical effects, costumes and makeup as much as possible and using CGI in appropriate ways
The esthetic of the show is astounding. Everything from the sets to the costumes to the very way they walk & carry themselves all looks incredible intricate & period correct. Shōgun is setting a new bar in terms of quality storytelling.
This show is better than everything on TV right now
Master's of the Air was good but felt incomplete somehow. This is better.
Let's just say, "I'm going to Japan", I know it's filmed in other places, but it's on my vacation list.

this is no doubt on par with some of the Oscar-winning costume/hair/makeup movies
Even better than some movies nowadays.
Hope you guys win awards for the costume / makeup work, 10/10
Marikos look is my favourite. Her costume, hair and makeup suit her character so well.
Their attention detail is why this show is so good.

I had no idea Jennifer Coolidge did hair and makeup on this show. So multitalented!!

Hope episode 6 back on track
