The HIGHEST PERCENTAGE de la Riva sweep! (Is this the craziest uke ever??)

  • This is the FIRST de la Riva sweep I teach anyone looking to learn the guard. It works on standing opponents of all shapes and sizes no matter how big or small you are yourself. Pay close attention to the grip work, as this is what will make or break this technique.
The next video will cover how to still sweep them EVEN when you lose your grip on the sleeve

I love de la riva so little details like the gripping your own wrist before the gi to lock it in is great for me. 🤙 osss!

Looks like he'd be difficult to drill with

Great tip on locking your own wrist before getting the grip. Never been able to pass that arm through before.

Great detail about grabbing your wrist instead of trying to switch hands at first

Man, i like the details here. I usually try to feed it but it doesn't work. JT Torres does this the same way by grabbing your on sleeve (2 on 1) and then trying to feed as the grip is too strong by then nullifying their posture attempt.
Haha I like the subtle jabs... that guy obviously has a chip on his shoulder. I can imagine he'd be a nightmare to drill with. I have a similar guy at the gym who also likes to resist but it's like bro chill so I can get some reps in. It's my first time trying this move lol

Nice explanation. Not sure why you ask if this is the craziest Uke ever though. Did not see anything crazy or amazing from the Uke. Can you elaborate?

At first I was really bothered that there's two guys laying down during instruction but then I realized it's allowing the people behind them to see so I'm kinda confused about how I should feel. Oh, and good video.
