Time to look at an interesting guard that's quite famous in the gi, yet a bit under appreciated for no-gi sometimes; the De La Riva guard! We're taking a look at using this transitional guard to sweep, take the back, wrestle up or enter into more established guards. Let's dive into this!
Thank you 🙌🏼🙏🏼 yup, we're very happy for being able to do this and share it with the world. If you want to go more in depth consider checking out our Patreon or BJJFanatics instructionals 🙏🏼🥋
Just ran into your content looking for details on Kiss of the Dragon! Really enjoying what you are showing in your videos. Enough detail to make sense without being exhausting like some others :) Thanks for putting this stuff out there! Definitely some stuff that I am familiar with, but new twists as well as some stuff I haven't encountered.
At your "kiss of the dragon" section... that is not a kiss of the dragon, that is a baby-bolo. A kiss of the dragon is the turn through the legs from reverse de la riva to end up in crab ride...
Yes sir! Sharp! I am aware. It’s an old video and we had been shooting for a while. These things happen unfortunately 😂 thank you for clearing it out buddy
I've been looking for a video like this ! Awesome content and thanks for not repeating every move three times like every other instructional. Rewinding is not that hard.
I have been looking to add de la riva to my no-gi game but have been a bit afraid with the backstep/leg lock options that the top person can have. This video was much needed with the options available to attack. Thank you!
@@hkhawaja3 my pleasure brother! Thank you for taking the time to share that. Keep in mind to play it a bit shallow and be cautious when they try to angle backwards. But it’s later a very good opening for you to chase their back! 🙌🏼
Thanks for sharing and the inspiration, never really liked DLR nogi, but play a lot of RDLR. Gonna give it another shot and work on some of these to further expand my open guard.
Same here but since a while I've now been going to DLR first and RDLR as backup. Also seeing DLR not as a static, but more a transitional guard changed my game for the better 🙌🏼
Ohw man to be honest I think I mentioned a video we were planning on shooting but never really got to it. That or it’s in our de la riva passing video. Sometimes it gets confusing planning this content and then releasing it as planned haha 😅 thank you!
@@EnergiaMartialArts I train in South Korea! Again thank you for the video coach. Hit those moves on whitebelts lmao but not purple ones. I think the pressure is lacking when I get the guard. Always fundamentals that change everything.. gotta focus on putting some tension in my de la riva guard.
@@EnergiaMartialArts Montreal, Canada! Living just outside of Medellin, Colombia now. Sending you positive vibes brother, always have lots of love for the Netherlands.

Hahah hidden in the Netherlands! But you've found it! Where are you from?
This is great. Pretty much a whole instructional in 15 minutes and for free. Thanks 🙏

I love De La Riva in the Gi, but find some difficulty applying No Gi.
Osú brother! My pleasure! Yeah just be sure you stay dynamic and be careful when getting your dlr hook in too deep as mentioned in the video!
Very informative video. Will make some of it work tmr
