I love how Madlib talks about Quas, i always thought as Quas as an alter ego of Madlib's but the way he talks about him makes it seems like he a whole other dude.
Madlib packs that super subtle humour and it makes me burst with laughter. i can just imagine Quasimoto starting a ruckus while Madlib just wants to make music
Fun Fact..... 1:11 that sample Madlib used for that Erika badu track was made originally by Daft Punk Thomas Bangalter’s dad Daniel vanguard who was a 70's French Disco producer.
Dilla and Madlib: two genius being the history of modern music, like jazz musicians in the past. 1) Jaylib 2) Metalfingers (DOOM) 3) Pete Rock 4) Q-Tip 5) Dre
Love hows he's stepping out and opening up more. Madlib one of the greatest producers, period. Looks like he's putting on a little weight too! Lol must be eating good.
Haha..seems like i aint the only one who notice some changes!..i think The Beat Konducta just gets a little bit older, thats it...but has i listening to his mix, i can tell you that he just have gets better with time, like fine wine !
That's like saying you think Ray Allen is better than Jordan. You may like Ray Allen better, but he actually isn't one of the top 50 players of all time; whereas, MJ is the goat. I don't know if Premier is the GOAT, but he definitely could be argued to be, along with Dilla and Dre, if you're talking pure hip-hop beat production; maybe Marley belongs in the discussion as well, and RZA had as strong of a 5 year period as anybody, ever. Timbaland, Pharell/Neptunes, and Kanye if you're talking about pop/RnB/hip-hop production--the mainstream lane, basically. Although, Dre Gwen Steffani, Mary J Blige, Michelle Le) Dilla (Janet Jackson, Erykah Badu, D'angelo) and Primo (Limp Bizkit, remixes for everyone from Janet Jackson to alternative bands) also did their share of cross genre producing. All reasons why these producers are on another level compared to Pete Rock. When Pete Rock did a RnB joint, like on his Soul Survivor series, it was still just basically a straight sp-1200 sampler hip-hop joint.
Preemo, Dilla, Madlib, Large Professor, Pete Rock, Alchemist, Dre, Q Tip. Those are the legends in terms of producing. You could throw Just Blaze in there too I guess
pong224 I guess I think so because its more of a hassle to get some of the samples cleared sometimes for example, so instead of waiting and going through all that to just put out some music, people gravitated to just making melodies and notes by themselves. Also, I guess most producers just want to avoid getting sued over a slither of audio. Too costly. I don't really think Trap ruined hip hop, its just another phase that'll probably pass within the next few years. I agree it is a little annoying though.
pong224 the trap is mostly based on synths and virtual instruments instead of samples so it still proves the point of sample lawsuits killed the movement
suing has not ruined fuck all. make your flips unrecognisable and make them your own instead of looping some shit and complaining when you cant get clearance cos its been looped to death.
+Cole Bronson Lists are stupid to begin with, but how is it that every producer you have listed after Pete has more underground classics AND more mainstream-money making classics than he does, yet he is your number one? Did you not intend to make an objective list?
It's all subjective mane, but I think petestrumentals is arguably the best beat tape of all-time, among conversations with entroducing and donuts and shades of blue, and Pete Rock has been making consistent soul classics since the early 90's, I've always though of his nostalgic feel as untouchable, and no doubt he's had a major influence on probably everyone on the aforementioned list. I just don't think anyone captures the rawness that epitomizes the golden-age of Hip-Hop quite like he does, GOAT
bro DOOMs son passed away last year,he even stopped with that notebook series on adult swim and everything, feel so sorry for him :( even his collab with muggs didnt fill the expectations
so madlib gave marsellus wallace's wife a foot massage, after he got thrown off the roof he developed a speech impediment and now that's why he doesn't rap
Beat Konducta India was the dopest shit I heard from madlib. The medicine shows are good to chill and smile to and vibe but the beat konducta in India u can move to that shit
He said that MADLIB was the last one standing for sampled based production! This is what the '90s was talking about..Benji B your knowledge in hip-hop is horrible....Do your homework....SO many well-known sampled base producer that still do music even in 2013

the INTERVIEW I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR
Even though this was not in HD, I quite enjoyed this interview.
Crazy how he says he doesn’t write over any beats he just freestyles over them i felt that so hard
I always thought whether or not he got sued for alot of his samples. Anyone else think that its killed the boom bap-sample movement of hip-hop?
Not really.... I mean how did it kill it? As far as I'm concerned, the whole Trap game killed it. Fuck Trap.
pong224 I guess I think so because its more of a hassle to get some of the samples cleared sometimes for example, so instead of waiting and going through all that to just put out some music, people gravitated to just making melodies and notes by themselves.
