We had "work experience" in Louisiana schools in the US back in the 1990s. It was called DECA. You went to school for half a day and then went to work for half a day. You got work experience and also got the required credits for school, as well.
Luckily, I didn't have to do that when I was in Grade 12. I already had enough credits that I only had to go to school for 2 classes for the entire year. So I got to school at 840am and left at 1140am to go home. It was GREAT! I didn't have to be up early for school at 7am and I got to come home at lunch 😁

  • @JustPlayItLoud

This video is the absolute perfect example of why the JHS Show is great. Behind every iconic pedal is a person or a small team of people. With smaller builders the story is often still around within the family rather than lost in years of corporate shuffling, but sometimes they don’t necessarily have the platform to get their story told.
I’m a pedal addict but also love hearing the stories behind this stuff, so this is A+ content for me.
I usually don’t like spending that much on a fuzz box but this makes me really want to own such a great piece of history related to the greatest guitar effect. Pepe seemed like a great guy and Lucy seems similarly awesome I doubt there could be a more worthy successor to his legacy.
And it doesn’t hurt that the Pep Box sounds INCREDIBLE.

Great interview! I too associate the whole old school PCB layout (with tape and donuts), chemical etching, soldering, etc. with my dad. I built 25 of the 27 projects from Craig Andertons book- Electronic Projects For Musicians, with Forward by Joe Walsh. On Christmas morning 1983 my dad presented me with a vertical 4" cards/ front panels, 19" rack mount unit for all of my effects. He had fabricated/ built himself in the metal shop at his work. I was thrilled! The blue plastic Radio Shack 'project boxes' I'd put all the effects in couldn't really handle too many more stomps. I got pulled aside when I walked into the airport carrying that rack. lol

I was watching some older episodes and came across the one about under rated overdrive. All I could think through the whole thing was that is the best name for an overdrive pedal ever! The Underated Overdrive. That's my gift to you. I would like one if you make them I guess. Lol. I also should add that Lucy was a wonderful and charming young woman. What a treat this was.
