I got my Dearmond Tremolo control at 8 years old in 1971 when my family moved into a new house. The previous owners left a few boxes of "junk" in the garage. It was 7 years later when I started playing guitar and finally figured out what it was.

I don't know heaps about Guild other than Muddy Waters is pictured with a black one, and I just bought a powder blue Starfire (a recent reissue) to play out with, as my old Harmony's are starting to kvetch about being too old for late nights. Question 1) you stole my thunder for early cranked and distorting guitar. Nothing beats those Howlin Wolf Sun and Chess tracks. Hubert Sumlin was pretty special - although I think Willie Johnson might still be the main man on that record before he didn't want to move to Chicago with Wolf.
    2) Uni-Vibe is the bomb. Best effect all day long. Other stuff can sound great, then you turn the vibe on and just accept the truth.

Whitey Fisk im confused, do you mind explaining your frustration? If it's specifically that some of his pedals are clones then you may be devastated to know many pedals are clones

@@forresterpayne6879 I completely agree. Josh has actually explained this loads of times. There are not many 'new' designs and saying that he 'rips' things off is harsh. He takes an existing circuit and makes it better - sometimes loads better #morningglory

Jack Middlemiss unfortunately it's easier to rip on people anonymously for things theyve done in the past and attack their character, regardless of whether theyve apologized or not. People seem to love to hate Josh and assume the worst of someone while simultaneously never reflecting on their own past selves.

@@forresterpayne6879 I don't understand how people could hate Josh. He has an awesome company with amazing products and he's a great guy. It's sad to see such hate for no reason.

I totally dig the sound of the snare. The whole drum kit sounds great, but the snare kills it. And I’m not even a drummer.
How do you get such a lovely dry drum sound in a room that seems to consist of blank walls?

I know!! I was wondering that too!! It's dark magic and jiggery-pokery (....or good drum tuning, that AEA, tight room etc?)

@@jhspedals you must have the 57 with pixie dust! No matter what mine either sounds 'ping' or 'doip' or 'ffuddch'. Would you let me to swap? However; my lawyer says I must disclose that I am nuts and I could be using a metal tube with a Parrott at one end (who is an expert mimic.) 'pang-rrr-pollywannacracker?'

Dang those vintage pedals sound so good!!! No wonder the old guitarists had that killer tone, between those pedals, the great guitars and epic amps and tubes... Heaven

Love the old DeArmond trem units. Built a couple micro versions for home use a couple years ago. Surprisingly though the unit itself is noisy, the signal is super clean without any residual noise due to its mechanics and simplicity!
