I love Jack's approach to new games, so refreshing seeing someone figure things out. Reminds me of playing games as a clueless kid before you could get all the answers online!
It's my preferred way of streaming or making videos! Go in knowing nothing and have a more interesting time than playing some and pretending to be surprised, like some do
Totally agree, a lot of RUclipsrs will approach a new game with a montage style video with gameplay from there hours of playing. Our Jack lad dives head first and shares the experience
Best assault in this game is GROM, a polish operator. He launches gas grenades while being immune to their effects, and has very little recoil with all attachments.
i think GROM has the best operators on all classes, i collected them all and they are easy to play/learn and also with the upgrades are totally unstopable, maybe besides the medic, he is a little too hard for begginers cuz of the shotgun
@king6530 As a current player, it's extremely greedy. I have been playing the game for a couple months now, and what I can say is: don't expect to play this game without at least buying the starter pack for 15 bucks. It's a huge grindfest. Don't play this game unless you're willing to whale or make this a second job. Great core game mechanics though, and some really cool game design put into fixing the 3rd person view problem. It ain't free. It's free to try.
@@aintheidot9111 to be 100% honest, that's not bad for a "F2P" game. Just look at what the likes of Gaijin (War Thunder & Enlisted) and Wargaming (World of Tanks & World of Warships) are charging. Or look at the mobile side with COD: Mobile. $30 for a character is not bad. Buy two or three that fit your style, and you're all set for the life of the game.
I put about 15 hours into this over the last two weeks and it's been a pretty fun time. I'm just enjoying it because I'm so sick to death of all the current shooters. Pretty quality free to play shooter.
Awesome that you gave this game a shot. Will hopefully bring more players. Been playing for almost a year now, and Steam release really boosted playerbase
We DESPERATELY need a SOCOM reboot that is true to the original… SOCOM is easily the best “tactical shooter” franchise in the history of the genre and it has been sorely missed by those who were fortunate enough to enjoy it during its lifecycle. SOCOM just did so many things right… The maps were amazing and they were fairly balanced. The combat was terrific, damage and gunplay were pretty realistic (especially compared to games like CoD with the jumping/sliding bullshit), servers were stable (arguably better than most current games), etc. I could go on and on because I have been dreaming of the day SOCOM makes a comeback, but I’ll end it here by saying: Thank you for highlighting this game, I am already on my way to check it out!
fighting in socom was dog fighting circling around eachother while jumping in and out of prone and shooting. and also waiting around corners with the third person camera. Wasnt realistic at all but imo was perfect. Socom, Socom 2 and Socom 3 were this way anyways. I kinda fell out of the franchise after that.
@bendrix92 yea haha. I'm a huge Socom fan, but to say it was realistic is a huge stretch. I did love the campaign in some of them. My love for the game was the community. The clans etc.
The realism I was referring to was in the movement, time to kill, accuracy penalties for jumping, diving, standing, walking, etc. Also, while I am aware that “dog fighting” was fairly common, it was less and less prevalent as skill increased. A controlled pair was sufficient to end an enemy, even at range, and the ability to utilize cover and concealment negated the likelihood of a spastic gunfight… There were no “abilities”, no jet packs or “redeploys”, no respawns, no laser beams and so on. Lastly, SOCOM was developed in tandem with the DoD and operators from the actual SOCOM at MacDill in Tampa. For a game that launched in 2002 I’d argue it had more realistic elements than the vast majority of modern games (with a few exceptions). However, it is still a game and there are compromises that needed to be made to keep some elements that would draw in a player base. I wasn’t attempting to say that SOCOM was real life combat, merely that it still stands as possibly the greatest “tactical shooter” franchise in history.
Socom, to me, brought online shooters to life. Used to play so much and was so good. I remember getting to the top 12 on the leaderboard (before cheaters took over). I remember one time my whole team was killed without killing anyone on the other team and i literally took out the entire other team by myself. Obviously, that must have been my peak dopamine hit, because i will never forget. Lol
It really did. Idk if you remember GameBattles back in the day but it was created solely for Socom and went on to become the home of competitive ladders for all the top shooters.
I was 14, did gamebattles, then got myself banned learning to moddisk and went to xbox lol I changed the code to make recoil none and be able to jump 200 feet. I wonder if in my 30's they'd let me run the anticheat program now that I know cheating ruins the fun.
In my opinion, the best third-person shooter in a long time!!! I have been playing it since 2017 and it has improved drastically in the last two years. Communication and a bit of strategic thinking are very important, a much higher win percentage is guaranteed, and you don't have to run through the whole map trying to slide and jump spam. There was even a brief period of first-person gameplay Excellent pvp and pve, gem of a game! See you in the game saiyanACE out
Seems much more like a teamwork and strategy game than a proper shooter for once. It requires thinking and communicating instead of just wallbanging and twitchy flick-shots to win. I really appreciate it and wish people would realize that there is more to "skill" than just clicking on someone quickly.
Nice to see that u gave it a try Jack! You were wondering if u could change camera angles, yes u can. There is a setting were u can have a kind of ghost recon over shoulder camera angle and a hotkey to change sides :) Hope it helps, for me its way better.

This game looks like it's onto something. A refreshing tactical based shooter. We don't get many of those these days. I hope SOCOM fans embrace it, because they/we are known to be very particular about games that try to take on the mantle of SOCOM.
Serious potential with this game. I've played a tiny amount and think it could be a regular for me. People frown on third-person shooters...you just need to adjust and think outside the box. I'll be playing this more.
Looks good. One criticism though. The first person "zoom-in" when shooting. For me, a true in game Socom vibe is a fixed 3rd person during the game play.
